"We had never had any prior contact with the [Member Information Removed]. He told us that his furnace had failed and it should still have some warranty. We did not install his furnace. We told the homeowner that depending on the factory warranty there would probably be a labor charge as well our diagnostic and trip charge of $95.00 in advance during his setting the appointment. Our NATE certified technician came out within the hour and spent half an hour diagnosing the furnace to determine that a variable speed motor and transformer hub had failed. We called two suppliers and verified the motor parts were covered by a factory warranty for a part swap. The tech went downtown to a parts house and waited for the motor to be pulled from inventory and then he took it back and spent forty five minutes reinstalling and testing the new motor. His total dispatch time was three hours and we billed [Member Name Removed] $400 for the labor involved on changing out a complicated part. His total invoice was $495 and he became upset that we charged that fee for his perception of our response. When he became argumentative with our technician he excused himself after cleaning up and left to avoid any further conflict. The [Member Information Removed] was all about the price-value of work. The owner called two other company's and their labor rates alone were over $600 for this part replacement. The fact that our technician was factory trained, efficient, and competent was never acknowledged in saving the [Member Information Removed] any money. We're sorry he was disappointed."
We got several other bids on the AC unit and install and Front Range was by far the most of affordable and we got the better product with them. Plus the crew was very nice to work with from start to finish.
They also provided coupon discounts based on promotion they were advertising elsewhere. I wasn't fully aware of the promotion and appreciated the discount.
Will use them again and refer to friends.
I originally accepted three separate company bids for the work which was ultimately accomplished on 10/13/2011. Besides being well below the other two bids cost wise Steve walked me through everything thoroughly. I ended up feeling very confident in his company's ability to perform.
I would recommend Front Range Mechanical for HVAC services to anyone without reservation.
"Our company provided a professional installation as promised of their air conditioner. We had suggested to the homeowner to consider purchasing a new furnace to improve the air flow of the new air conditioner at our estimate. They were on a limited budget and wanted only to add air conditioning. We had no reason to believe that the motor was as weak as it was. When it struggled, the homeowner was frustrated with the combination of issues from their old furnace. We worked with them and provided a new furnace at cost to help them. We had not provided any prior service to their furnace and had no knowledge beyond what they represented as a working furnace. It was not our intent to cause them any frustration, just provide a comfortable house working within their budget."
"The customer was given a quote for $275 which included the trip, diagnostic, and repair part for the furnace. He did not pay that amount, because he did not have us repair the furnace. He was charged for the trip and our diagnostic fee only. He had a friend purchase the part at wholesale and install it for him. His problem is a value perception having a friend install it at cost with the expertise to repair it regardless of voiding a factory warranty and giving no credence to our trained staff or response."
