"We appreciate any constructive feedback we receive from customers, and take all comments into consideration when conducting business. This review is not from a customer, but a potential customer that we did a bid on for a Basement Remodel (not plumbing as stated.) [member name removed] did not hire us for his remodel project. Prior to doing the estimate, we obtained the square footage of the space to be renovated. The original estimate was for $75,000, but after speaking with [member name removed] the following day and adding a bathroom to the remodel, the price did increase by $5,000; it was not just an arbitrary increase. It is also our practice to collect a 50% down payment on any large job, but as a courtesy to [member name removed] we reduced that by $10,000."
Received the invoice and the hours billed exceeded the actual hours the plumber was onsite in addition to a $75 travel charge.
Contacted the company with an email to point out the discrepancy and asked that this be corrected as I was sure it was an oversight and I wanted to use them in the future.
I was directed to the owner, Eddie Bullock, to discuss the matter expecting a reasonable conversation but was met with a
hostile attitude and demands for immediate payment in full by credit card (the same day I received the disputed invoice).
This was followed by a voicemail (which I have saved) threatening to call the Denver Building inspector to create trouble for me if I posted anything negative about him on Angie?s List or any other site. Also threatened to file a police report for ?theft of services? if he did not get my credit card number and paid in full (again, the same day I received a disputed invoice). Also stated that ?This is not the first time that we have ever done that?. Dishonesty and threats are no way to run a business. Plenty of honest contractors
out there. This is not one of them.
"We value and appreciate each and every customer and strive to be courteous and professional in everything we do. As with all companies who do the type of work we do, payment is required at the time of service, and as a small business we have limited recourse when a customer does not pay as agreed. We do apologize for the misunderstanding in this situation, and as a result of your feedback we have changed a few of our internal procedures to ensure that nothing like this happens again. Eddie's Home Services has a loyal base of happy, satisfied, and repeat customers and our goal is to keep providing quality service at reasonable prices."
