After 23 years as a customer I will absolutely never do business with anything even associated with Dish Network. About 1 1/2 years ago my Reciever DVR started acting up real bad I called Dish Network and they had a repairman come and he replaced my broken equipment with the Hopper and Joey, little did I know that they were locking me into a 2 year contract for the new equipment "NEVER EXPLAINED TO ME" so roll forward to a couple months ago I was able to upgrade my internet from 3mb to 100mb making streaming a real option. So I decided to call and Terminate my Services because I liked the streaming service better. Well the Agent "never told me that I was under contract" talked me into putting my account on standby just incase I didn't like the steaming services. Fair enough, I waited a few months and decided to call back and Terminate my Services only to find out that I am under contract. The Agent tried to tell me that I would have to wait 8 months before I could cancel. She offered to lower my bill from the $120+ I was paying a month to $59 and so much but, but, but from them. Finally I was told after asking that I could buy out the remainder of my Contract for $20 for each month remaining for a total of $160 I took this option. Just hate that it took me several disconnect callbacks and nearly 3 hours to get my Service canceled. They really made me mad, can't believe that I was treated as I was after being a customer for so many years.

This has to be the most incompetent and least customer focused company I have ever dealt with in this field.  It is pure frustration to work with them.  It's a long story but I recommend staying away from this company.

I like Dish the best. If I got more dollars then I’ll get more services. When there was a really bad weather, the quality of the channel wasn’t so good but I have stuff stored on DVR so I didn’t really care. Their price was average. If they have a better deal, I would go back to them.

DISH seemed like a good deal when I signed up with them 2 years ago thinking I could combine them and Earthlink for internet and TV services. It was $25.00 cheaper than a bundle with Verizon at that time. Then Earthlink could not make the DSL work at my house.  The only other internet option was Verizon.  Verizon + DISH was $75.00/m more.  So $25.00/m extra for a Verizon bundle wasn't looking too bad.
Three days into my DISH contract I called to cancel.   DISH said they would be happy to cancel if I would pay their $400 cancelation fee.  I thought there was a 30 day grace period and said so. I had just bought my first house, done more repair work than I thought I would have to and didn't have $400 laying around to throw away.  I argued but they didn't budge.
That was the start of my deep dislike for DISH.
In two years I have had them out multiple times to repair my reception.  They talked me into the Hopper about 6 months into my contract since it would "improve reception".  Reception did improve, but I was paying a fortune for TV and internet with no way out. I reduced channels to the bare minimum to save costs.
Today my 24 months ended so I called first thing to cancel.  The DISH rep was nice enough on the phone but then at the end he tried to tell me when I got the Hopper I renewed my 2 year agreement and still had 6 months to go and thus owed them $80.00 cancellation.  No one had said that to me at the time I got the Hopper and there is no way I would have signed anything that would extend my time with DISH.  After arguing they finally waived the fee.
In retrospect, it would have been far less expensive (and less frustrating) to just pay the $400 cancellation but I didn't have the ready cash for it nor could not get past the principle of the thing.  I would never recomend this company and would prefer to go without TV than to ever use this company again.

We really haven't lost signal. We've got our dish in the right place, I guess. It doesn't get snowed in or frozen. We chose Dish because everybody else wants to raise the rates. They suck you in with introductory rates and then raise the rates. A competitive satellite TV network does the same thing. We did sign a contract. We had Comcast before but we didn't like the fact that they raise the rates. The price is a little high with Dish.

When I called for service, one of the channels I mentioned I specifically wanted in my package was AMC. Dish has cancelled this and other channels that we watch and one that I specifically stated I wanted in my package when calling to place service with them. Dish is refusing to let me out of my contract without a 332.50 charge. They have cancelled the programming, which are channels that we watch and yet they are not lowering the bill, nor letting me out of the contract without a nomianal fee. I am sure they were in a disput when I called about going with them, and  I specifically asked about this channel and was not given a heads up that they were in a dispute, this is a misrepresentation.

Installed the dish with NO obstructions in my yard on a poll. I was told by technician that as long as nothing is in front of it the satellite will never be interrupted. Few months later, no reception over and over and over. New Technician comes out, says the satellite needs to be re-installed, that first Tech, did not do it right. Told him that when it rains I have no TV reception, AT ALL. He said that should not be happening. No explanation, just "that should not be happening". Here we are a year later, nothing has been resolved and the bill goes up more than $29 and I still cannot watch ANY tv when it rains. If I want out of the contract (24 months) it will cost me more than $210.  No service when it rains, no explanation of why, not holding up their end of the bargain and I am getting charged MORE. Then if I want someone to come out AGAIN to do nothing, they will charge me a minimum of $95 unless I am willing to get the service package for $7 a month. Website says $6 but I guess that means nothing either.Worst absolutely the worst service and billing I have ever had.

I don't really like them very much at all. We don't have a lot of choice  here. Their customer service is not good, when you call them about something  that something is wrong with the DDR, they will put you on hold forever. They'll try to lure you in with specials and then when you call them, it's not really what it says it was.

I didn't have to pay anything for the service because I have a monthly service fee that is part of my service agreement. They came the next day after I called. I will continue to use them.

They make it very difficult to get out of a contract. Some of their methods are very deceptive, such as: they say you can make unlimited program changes but when you do they freeze your availability to change programming for a whole month. I think that is very deceptive. Once we cancel Dish Network we will never go back to them again.

The experience has been good. They are attentive and helpful when you have a problem. The problem with satellite is that whenever it rains you loose the signal. They had to come back and fix something twice.

I'd have to say that the communication and installation process wasn't perfect. Installer had wrong info from the customer service rep. Ended up having to argue with installer to do the job I asked for. But after that I have had no problems. The service, price and programming have been great.

The installer arrived on time and called about ten minutes before arriving which was nice. He was very professional and explained what he was going to do and how he would do it. He went over all the new equipment with us thoroughly so we would understand how to use everything. We were switching from cable TV to satellite so we had several questions and he was very patient with us.

I called the next morning because it was not working. They said the telephone tech would have to help us. I said that we needed a tech to come to our house. Your husband can listen and can try to do the repairs over the phone. Doing what the tech said my husband got a shock and the TV started to thump. I put the phone to the TV and the tech told me to shut it off and she would send out a tech. He came the next day and said the TV was blown out. Dish would not take responsibility for the damage. So I had to hire a TV repair man myself. I did not want a new TV, I just want the satellite company to pay for the repairs.

Looked good at the beginning but the tub refinishing bubbled within the first four months. Over time, more and more bubbled and finally ripped open. Because this service was paid for by the previous owner to our home, Tub Doctors would not guarantee it. We later had another refinishing company come in who said that the tub wasn't properly prepped. That is why the refinishing bubbled and ripped so quickly.

I would really rather go with cable, but they charge too much. I actually went with Dish Network because they have the best PVR (Tivo recorder), and it's the best integrated package. Menuing is slick, and the TV-guide is well integrated, plus you can't beat a wireless remote that works through walls (unlike regular remotes that have to be line of sight). As with any Cable provider, I think they take advantage of you for the price, but it's the best I could find for feature vs cost.

Installer came out the first time, identified two trees as obstacles, offered solutions. Installers returned when we decided on placement of dish, they were running behind schedule but did call to tell us this. They were friendly and explained clearly how the new system worked by walking us through each step. Even though it was past 7p, they stayed until the job was done. One of the guys forgot some paperwork but brought it by later in the evening on his own time. We were having trouble with one of the receivers and he fixed it right there even though he was off the clock.
