CHRISTOPHERS PLUMBING INC
About us
Christopher’s began in Colorado over 50 years ago, by Elmer Christopher and his son in law Robert (Bob) Ardrey. The name Christopher’s has become synonymous with quality plumbing Since 1959, and we've worked hard to do the same with fine home remodeling and quality bath and kitchen products since we opened our showroom. Christopher’s Bath & Kitchen Design Showroom was established in 1981 as a one stop center for your bath and kitchen needs; an alternate to the box stores where product quality, service and selection has always been our standard.

"Monday Feb 3rd, 2014 we were called by the agent in charge of this property for the owner. The service request was to run a water line to a refrigerator for the ice maker. We were given the property address, which is in a neighborhood we regularly service. The agent requested that we try to be urgent in getting to the property as she had a sale pending for the unit. We were given permission to gain access to the unit and did so late in the afternoon of that day. Once we were at the property we pulled the refrigerator out to inspect behind. Upon doing so, our plumber noted that the proper connections were present but that the hook ups/box had been painted the same color as the walls - this could not be seen without pulling the fridge out. We spoke with the agent the next morning and explained that the proper connections were present. We attempted to collect at the time of this call. As is industry standard, we do not provide free estimates and must charge a price for sending our trained staff to a job site. The total we attempted to collect was $75.00. This was a discounted rate for the labor of 1/4 hours and our standard trip charge of $49.00. The agent stated that she would not be paying and would contact the property owner. The owner of the property contacted us and stated that he also would not be paying, as he was not aware of any charges to be made. During this call Robert explained that he had not formally invoiced him and that we would not do so. Our business has thrived since 1959 by charging our customers an extremely competitive rate for our expert services. In the majority of cases, our services are much less costly than those of our competitors because of the way we structure our fees."
The estimates for the demo and installation were the highest I have ever seen. Probably the work would have been well done, but since I waited 2 months for the initial estimate, I didn't have any confidence that the work would be done in my lifetime. I was also not willing to pay $15,000 to redo this small bathroom.
I did order all the plumbing parts and fixtures (faucets, valves, drains) from Christopher's. The designer - Heather - was often very hard to get in touch with. At one point, we had scoped a custom vanity, 32" wide. Then I decided that I wanted a certain travertine counter top, which was 30", so I asked Heather to re-estimate the vanity for 30" wide instead of 32". You would think that making a smaller cabinet would cost less? No, the price increased from $1,200 to $1,500. The reason? "Because of the heavy countertop, we need to make the cabinet in plywood instead of particle board for the strength, and because we did not estimate sufficient profit." What? A $1,200 custom vanity was not going to be sturdy? The profit remark was just unprofessional.
If you want high-end fixtures, Christopher's has a good selection. Be prepared to pay a premium and wait a long time for the order to come in.
Be very careful about hiring Christopher's for a whole bath job, and be very careful that you know what you are getting for your money.
"Christopher’s Showroom’s designers spend many hours on designs and take great pride in the work we do. Christopher’s does require payment of a design fee that was never made, thus we did not complete any further designs. The prices that Christopher’s quotes for design and remodel are very competitive and reflect the quality of our work and product offerings. The quote of $15,000 for the bathroom was based on products and designs that the client selected. The products that she selected were high end products, whose prices reflect their quality. It is our goal to go above and beyond for each and every client. On more than one occasion, the designer stayed after hours to return telephone calls and emails. The client did not show up to three scheduled appointments, and Christopher’s continued to make every accommodation for the client. The client also cancelled orders she had made that were beyond their cancellation window, which we also accommodated. We are grateful for each and every client and eager to satisfy them all. Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience that we caused, we felt that we were making more than reasonable accommodations on all fronts."
"[Member name removed] was very kind and patient to work with. It is always our effort to give the customer a quality job with quality parts. Her existing faucetry is a specialty type product (catalog order) and not a typical name brand faucet that can easily have a new trim put on it. A lot of time was spent to find [Member name removed] requested parts in the Brushed Nickel finish with no positive results from many different sources. After the scope had changed to Chrome it is still a non-typical valve body, and once a retro-fit trim kit came in it still required additional soucing to complete the kit to allow for the different depths of handles to match to the existing valve body stems. Because the finish did change the original tub/shower door needed to change as well and a miss communication with our supplier needed to be corrected. There are hundreds of different faucet manufacturers and almost none inter-change parts. it did take extra time to locate the parts for these unique faucets and we do regret the wait time as it did seem excessive. We were very sensitive to the productive time on the job as we felt that [Member name removed] should not be responsible for a source gap of available materials and had worked our pricing accordingly."
My one complaint concerns getting information from the company about the water heater they were selling me. The representative on the phone couldn't tell me the model number and then he failed to call back with the information. I didn't know what I was buying until it arrived on the truck. I went ahead with the purchase because of the professionalism of the repairman. Hopefully I did the right thing.
I am guessing that "Bob" has nearly 50 years or more of plumbing experience under his belt, so I do not think you could have a plumbing related matter that he has not seen before. As such, Bob is able to come up with the right fix the first time without the customer having to deal with a lot of trial and error.
Much thanks again to Christopher's Plumbing for a job well done!
