It went great.  I have dealt with Blazer automotive for years.  They have kept my VW Van running well.  They are knowledgeable and fair in their pricing.  They always provide pricing and get approval before performing any work.

Had a lot of work done as long as the engine was out--new tranny, vapor lines replaced, intake boots, fuel filler neck, fuel pump, several other things. All great work and a bargain considering all the work that was done.
This is an "old school" shop, so don't expect it to be squeaky clean with a coffee bar. But these guys know VWs like few others in town and always do a great job (not just air-cooled, either--they've also worked on my '01 GTI VR6).

The 50,000 mile service was done quickly. I have no way of knowing how well it was done. This cost about $600, which is slightly cheaper than the dealer. Unfortunately, my local dealer does incompetent work, which is why I sought out another shop. My only knock on Blazer is that, after this service, the interior stank of oil and fuel for a couple of days. I believe that this could have been avoided by more careful use of plastic liners over the seats and carpet. Blazer looked for, but could not find, an obvious problem that would cause the spurious high temperature warning light, but they did note that the coolant was a little low. They topped it off and told me to see if that fixed the problem (it did). If not, then they would do a more detailed analysis. NO CHARGE FOR THIS SERVICE! The left headlight went out. They had to replace part of the headlight assembly and also the bulb. Total cost about $120. Just prior to that, another company had told me that the entire light assembly would need to be replaced for about $400. A couple of days after the repair, the light failed again. This was due to a defective new light bulb. They profusely apologized and replaced the bulb for free in about 10 minutes.

I have used Blazers for years and they are always reliable and the pricing is exactly what you would expect. They communicate well about your car's problems and what can be done to fix it. They are always up front about the job and pricing.

My vehicle has 135,000 miles on it and it is still running great because of these guys. They have been servicing it ever since I purchased my van. I have also had them install a new water pump and just do regular maintenance in the past. They are always reasonable in price. There are nothing but good people that work there. The business is family owned and they have been around forever.
