Steve was very helpful getting my moms house ready to sell. He installed carpet and flooring in house and kitchen. They also took care of the replacing the roof. The job was done very quickly and was fantastic. He facilitated with the insurance company and was professional throughout all of it. I give five stars and was impressed with the work performed. Great experience overall. The wind had blown down part of my fencing and had other posts broken. Steve called me Monday, saw the property Tuesday and completed the job Wednesday, so extremely swift turnaround. Very kind and understanding, worked with my schedule and got what I wanted done. I was wary reading the other negative reviews but I personally had no issues. Thank you Steve and Austin for your help!

They came in on time (Just a few minutes late, but it was only by two minutes, so it's not that big of a deal, especially since it was snowing and foggy on last Friday). Once they got to my house, they were friendly, efficient, and even gave me good advice for how to hand the frame for whenever I move on day. And the price was very affordable as well. 5 out of 5, would definitely recommend.?

Prior to hiring Steve as a contractor to redo our basement. We had two other contractors that said they will assist if we get a permit. Their work was lousy. Their expertise was pathetic, and we wasted quite a bit of money. When we hired Steve, he was very professional And explained everything to us as per what would happen. He went to the original building plans, modified them and got the plans and permit approved in a quick manner. Steve and his team of professional contractors sheet rockers plumbers heating and air-conditioning and electricians are amazing. We said we needed the project done before the middle of December. And just a little over 50 days the project was complete. excellent work by all and when I get more money together, I will definitely contact Steve to make sure that I get professional work done on my next project and his timeliness on the job was impeccable, and there was someone that was always here making sure that everything was done right everything was clean And had a lot of patience and making sure that everything was correct and done in the proper fashion. Steve and his crew are true professionals and I am glad I hired them. I am very grateful for my basement remodel and now that is another room that we can have in our house that is super fantastic to use for a big get together Ariel And a great place to have company.

FIRED! Builds by steve! Detached garage. Contracted September 2022 with completion written as December 2022. Today is 9/1/2023 and project has still not passed framing inspection. Reason for termination: Sub-standard work, delay of project and THEFT of private property from residence. This is an engineered garage, complete with plans. So many errors had to have engineer out to re-do plans including corrections for as built. Steve does not have the skills to read plans and has no basic knowledge of construction. I had to stop him when he was framing windows without any headers. Basic stuff. Failed FIVE framing inspections: 7/20 failed, Too many items to list, 7/31 failed and project locked by inspector, must be followed by lead inspector due to too many issues 8/2 failed, discussed defects with contractor via telephone because he was not present for inspection. 8/10 failed, Ten items called out 8/30 failed, Three items called out Search pikes peak building department permits by address. PM me for address. In no way would I ever recommend this contractor!!! It is been a nightmare.

PROCEED WITH CAUTION! Steven Schroeder, from Builds By Steve, is a nice guy but this nice guy cannot do the job! His crew finished our attached garage-the drywall mudding/taping work was subpar. Along with hiring him to finish the garage, we contracted with w/him to build an outdoor kitchen as well. Throughout the process, he provided minimal (at best) oversight of his crew (the installation of the stone veneer on the outdoor kitchen was so terrible he had to redo it himself/extend the project), he provided us with what turned out to be terrible bids (and tried to keep up-charging us for work/items that should have been in the original bid, to include charging us for new materials he had to purchase due to the awful original veneer install), and the overall quality of the work was/is subpar! We continue to discover more issues with the projects we hired him for. We paid our deposit in early September and he said us he had to be done with the job by Thanksgiving 22, no problem. The job was finished on January 31 and 23! We are a retired military couple (41+ years of military service between us) and have collected numerous challenge coins over the years. We trusted Steve to create a custom live edge bar top for us with the coins inlaid in resin, he told us this work was his specialty. Somehow he is affiliated with Sasquatch Cookies and has done all of their woodwork as he sent us to their locations to check out what he is done on the live edge bars there. We liked the work so much that he won the bid, which included creating a unique, custom live edge bar using the IRREPLACEABLE challenge coins we have collected over our years of military service, our ribbon racks, and other memorabilia. He charged us +$3K JUST FOR THE BAR TOP. This custom bar is falling apart not more than 2 months after he finished it. The coins are falling out of the resin and our IRREPLACEABLE COINS ARE FALLING APART! Additionally, the bar is not smooth and flat. He wanted to keep charging us for resin saying that he did not expect to have to put multiple coats of resin on this CUSTOM bar top--we finally had to tell him he was done with this project as we could not afford to pay him anymore. Furthermore, he did not finish the underside of the bar whereas, the undersides of the bars at Sasquatch Cookies are all finished (False Advertising?!) There are resin drip marks all along one side and we have pointed/splintered pieces on our bar. This does not look like a quality piece. If this is his specialty he is an absolute failure or he is a fraud! For comparison, Stop by Sasquatch Cookies and you will see a flat, smooth, bar that is fully finished on all sides, with no drips, pointed edges, or cloudiness. Our bar is, sadly, none of these. Oh, there is more-he failed to seal the veneer on the outdoor kitchen, and his crew was very disrespectful of our time by being late or failing to show up when they said they would (which is probably why this project took 2 months longer than projected!), I caught his workers smoking/vaping on my property even after asking them not to, they did not clean up their mess daily and left safety hazards each night. His crew showed up on the FIRST day asking ME what to do. His crew would just up and leave the job without notifying anyone home at the time, leaving the property unsecured/gates/garages open. The frame for the countertop was so poorly built that it had to have multiple braces and shims placed before the granite installation. Thankfully, Tops In Stone installers were kind enough to fix his mess. Sadly, Steve was here the day Tops In Stone was here taking measurements for the granite template-he even discussed the issues with them yet he did NOTHING to correct them. Bottom Line: Do not hire this company! They will take your money and you will be left holding nothing but a $3000 piece of firewood if you are lucky.

The owner does not not follow up on his employees work and offers excuses for work not being properly done. He did offer to fix mistakes, but again had his crew do it and still did not follow up on the finished product. The work took much longer than promised, was not completed, his crew lacks experience and did very low quality construction. He has the knowledge and is very personable, but as an owner, he did not follow through on his employees finish work.

Diligent, professional and affordable. I would utilize them again.

Steve and his crew were phenomenal from start to finish! They showed up on time everyday and did a wonderful job with our patio concrete and pergola structural changes. 5-stars and I highly recommended to anyone wanting any type of work done to their home or business!

Professional first meeting, estimate, and install. Professional clean up and walk through. Steve did exactly what we asked him to and his team of workers were all fantastic. Hard and heavy work on a very hot day. Highly recommend.

Steve did an entire remodel of my basement, over 1500 sqft. We are so excited about the finished product, itâ s gorgeous! We already talked to him about 2 other potential projects in the future! Extremely responsive, up front with everything and he was willing to roll with a few modifications along the way with a smile and can do attitude! He even came back over a week later when I noticed a few minor touch ups that we missed in the initial walkthrough. Canâ t wait to hopefully work with them again!

Steve was available within a few days and did a fantastic job. Put the curtains up exactly as I wanted!! I would recommend Steve to anyone looking for a instal of drapes and curtain rods.

Steve and his wife took great care of getting my fence rebuilt after a major wind storm. Both were extremely professional, yet very personable as well. They explained everything that was going to be done and even presented a cost saving opportunity for me. I have already recommended Steve to some friends and I look forward to working with Builds by Steve again in the future.
