However, we would like to provide some context regarding this particular project. This job involved patching two separate areas on an aging roof, which we were called out to handle on short notice as you were trying to sell the house. We always aim to be prepared, but in this case, the scope of the repair changed once we inspected the actual damage, which required a specific type of material not initially anticipated. That did result in one trip to the hardware store. We never charge for time someone is “sitting in the car” — our billing reflects total time on site and travel related to the job. Regarding the 6-hour duration, roofing—even minor patching—requires setup, safety measures, removal of damaged materials, proper sealing, and thorough testing to ensure water tightness. We take this seriously, regardless of job size, to prevent further issues for the homeowner down the line. As for the conversation around cost: when asked, we transparently explained how business expenses like insurance, materials, and labor are factored into pricing. This wasn’t meant to be defensive, but to help the customer understand where their money goes. We normally wouldn't have fixed a job on the spot like this without giving you a proper quote but considering the time restraint with selling the house, we thought the faster we could complete the job the better it would be for the owners. We regret that you felt disrespected—that was never our intention. We always strive to treat our customers professionally and respectfully, and we’re sorry that wasn’t the experience here.
