Too many receipts to understand details (maybe that's the point), but my daughter bought a new iPhone7 last October. The phone cost $749.99 + $43.01 tax. The offer was $300 off, but the bill shows only -$12.50 monthly deducted from another account of ours, not $300 off original price right away. When I paid off the phone, the remaining cost was $605.33 since $187.67 had been paid so far--but the total cost of that phone was a very real $793 (!) with only 6 months of that $300 discount of $12.50 x 6 months = $75. Hence $793 - $75 = $718.00 total.
