The Door Store

The Door Store on Santa Fe engages in deceptive business practices, specifically employing bait-and-switch tactics in their door sales operations. Their showroom displays products that are unavailable for purchase, a material fact they fail to disclose at the time of order placement. Our company placed an order for 37 custom doors and remitted an $18,000 deposit based on the quality and specifications of the showroom samples. Upon delivery to their facility, the doors presented bore no resemblance to the approved samples—they were of substantially inferior construction and quality. The owner, Tim, claimed the differences would be imperceptible once staining was complete. As the owner of B&B Design Build, a remodeling firm with 30 years of industry experience, I possess the expertise to identify substandard products immediately. This was unequivocally a case of product misrepresentation. I rejected the delivered doors and demanded full return of the $18,000 deposit, citing material misrepresentation of the product specifications. Tim has refused the refund request. Subsequently, he has sent two emails alternately offering discounts and threatening to file a mechanic's lien against our project. We have retained legal counsel and will pursue full recovery of our deposit through all available legal channels. Furthermore, we intend to ensure that The Door Store and its proprietor are held accountable for these fraudulent practices to protect other contractors and consumers from similar exploitation.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. The Door Store does not stand by their warranty or provide customer service. We had a door installed last summer and experienced severe cracking in multiple spots of the door within 90 days and after several attempts to communicate with this company, they haven’t responded once. After spending $10k on this door, I am severely disappointed.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Our doors were installed over 2 months ago but they installed the handles very unevenly and need to fix the weather stripping - both of which they have acknowledged need to fixed. But they have been very unresponsive. We spent thousands of dollars on these doors and are very unhappy with the unfinished work. They admitted they are understaffed and do not have people to do the work. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, their service is too unreliable for such an expensive purchase. Go with a company that can deliver. I wish we had.

I went back to the store when my handyman had trouble installing the doors I purchased at the Door Store. I'd hoped for a win-win resolution. Instead, two salesmen and the owner barraged me with constant interruptions, loud voices, hostility, intimidation, defensiveness, blaming, inflexibility, arrogance, smirking, and a whopping unsatisfactory resolution-- as in, no resolution. It was a scene like I've never seen in my life. I would recommend potential customers hire the Door Store's crew instead of a handyman to install your doors. That might avoid the volatile confrontation I ran into. Or maybe, as other reviews have indicated, maybe this is how they treat their customers.

HEED THE WARNINGS OF THE REVIEWS! Not sure how a company with a proven track record of failed customer experiences (2.5 stars out of 51 on yelp, at the time of this review, 05/19/2020) is still in business. My experience was much like that of the warnings I ignored - failed finishes and warped wood doors, non-responsiveness to customer correspondence, failure to stand behind their product and craftsmanship, denial of warranty, blatantly rude (owner, Tom). See images taken within a few months after install. Tom does not understand the need to take a pragmatic approach to running his business. Reviews are a clear indication, and writing on the wall... I can only guess it is a matter of time until his poor attitude leads to the demise of the business.

I was amazed at how good this turned out.  I was a little nervous of using them because of a couple of negative reviews I read, but I decided to use them anyway.  I called their number and talked to a gentleman, told him the style of doors I needed, said I wanted them to match the other doors in my house. So I snapped about 10 pictures of where I want the doors placed, the other doors in my house to match, etc. and he said that he can get those doors and gave me a price that was very reasonable.  They said the doors should be in on a thursday, which they were, they had someone come out the same day and installed them beautifully.  Amazing.  On time, good price, exactly matched my other doors.  Took only 15 minutes of my life.  What else can you ask for!  I will use them again if I ever need doors.

Overall experience was very dissapointing! This Company and their employees do not value customers. The employees at this Company were more interested in talking to each other, texting and eating we were lucky to get a hello. They seemed bothered by our presence. We also looked at many display doors in show room and they seemed like seconds all seemed to be damaged although when we asked about some cracks etc... that we saw in doors they assured us there was nothing wrong. We knew we were looking at sub-par doors and didnt appreciate being lied to. We left and will not return but will be sure to tell anyone who asks about the negative experience we had.
