My husband and I hired The Basement Finishers based on the recommendation from our neighbor. We called two more companies to get additional quotes and The Basement Finishers provided the best pricing. The workmanship was very good, and the work staff were friendly. They met all our expectations. The project cost went up slightly but that was because of the additional work my husband and added. Very happy with the results and would gladly refer to friends and neighbors.

This past year (2022), The Basement Finishers completely remodeled our main floor Kitchen, Family room and 2 Bedrooms. This included a full Kitchen with island, stackable washer/dryer, new gas stove, laminate flooring throughout, new carpet, new paint and more! It looks fantastic and we have referred The Basement Finishers to our neighbors. Great job!!!

My family contracted The Basement Finishers, LLC, on 2/17/2021 to complete a basement finishing project for our home. Actual work on the basement began on 5/5/2021, with framing chalk lines being put down, and now we are in August of 2022, with the project still not being completed. We want this job completed and finished as we are now at 15 months from when actual work began on this project. This month on 8/15/22, we filed a complaint with the BBB regarding the project and received a "Breach of Contract" due to a "Non-Disparagement Clause" within their contract. At this point, the owner Mark Stone has stopped responding to emails and has yet to respond to the BBB complaint. Per The Basement Finishers, LLC, they will terminate the project if I do not retract by BBB complaint. I will update this review after the situation has been sorted out.

I hired these people to refinish my basement. It is the company whose owner or representative was Mark Stone. They promised to do things in a timely manner, had us sign a detailed contract, said they would start work within a couple of weeks and get it done within a few weeks. Their project manager was an incompetent, disorganized manager who seemed to be unable to properly manage his schedule, hence the constant delays. The weeks dragged out to a start time of about 6 weeks. We had given them a deposit of about $6000. During this time, they occasionally turned up with a new employee who was being paid close to minimum wage to tear out drywall, and dig out a basement window. The concrete cut for a new basement window was handled by a sub who was paid on my front lawn in cash by their project manager. I finally got fed up when they left a stack of framing wood on my lawn for about 3 weeks, in the rain and sun, and then claimed that it was fine to be installed in my home. Despite their detailed contract, they failed to include in their contract, a bid for reframing and electrical which was required by code. We made sure a basement wall was exposed when they bid the job so there is no way that a competent contractor would have missed the existing code violation with the framing and electrical. They wanted to add thousands of dollars to the job right before their delayed start due to this error. We lost all confidence in this company despite the fact that their sales men, or owner Mark Stone was very convincing that all was ok. Mark Stone refused to return any of our money despite the fact that they did nothing but dig a hole, cut concrete on a small window, and tear out some drywall. The work done would have totaled no more than $2-3k at most. In fact they claimed that we owed them another $2500 above the $6000 they already had. I should have sued them, but don't have the time or the energy. I promptly hired a competent, honest contractor and got the work done on schedule. These people should not be doing business.

"This person is not a valid client of The Basement Finishers, LLC. It is assumed that this person is a competing basement finishing company trying to disparage our A+ Ratings on this site. The Basement Finishers, LLC has excellent ratings with all pertinent agencies throughout Denver and surrounding areas, which can be easily proven. This person is not valid."

I have to echo the other reviews of this company. Lack of communication and responsiveness is horrible. There is a lack of taking ownership and making customer happy. Our basement was supposed to be done in 6-8 weeks but took close to 5 months! There would be many days or even weeks where zero workers came over. Company would blame me, the customer, for delays due to "all the changes" I made or inquiries on options. Really really poor project management.
The craftsmanship was fine but they are just the sub-contractors. We opted to save money by going with them vs. a more expensive option; in hindsight I wish I choose differently. The headache was not worth it.

Be very careful not to believe what is said to you. Our basement was supposed to be done in 8 weeks and now we are at 8 months and finally almost done. It has been a constant struggle to get clear answers. Emails do not get responded to in their entirety. The invoices are vague and you don't know what you are paying for. It has been such a struggle to get this project done that I've basically withheld paying the final invoice until he last items are complete. Of course they are threatening late payment fees and even legal action. The workers themselves are very nice and good. They are clearly unhappy with the poor project management and are often apologetic for the haphazard way things are managed. While the finished product looks good, be prepared to closely manage and challenge everything. I would pay more to ensure I get a contractor that does what they say they are going to do within the timeframe promised. This is not Stone.

We got 3 different bids for a very basic basement finish. Their cost was almost half of the competition. Most of the other alternatives wanted to "jazz" it up, but we didn't feel the current market warrants spending those kind of $/SF.
Estimated time to complete at the beginning of the project was 2 months. In reality, it exceeded 4 months.
In general, the workmanship was excellent. There were a few details with
the framing that resulted in minor adjustments having to be made
(bedroom door had to open out instead of in). The plumber, electrician,
drywall crew, and painter were all top-notch. My only complaint was that
the project management was terrible and resulted in things having to be
redone & the handyman doing this work wasn't as careful to cover up
the work area (shower pan / carpet). I also had to keep on the project
manager repeatedly at the end on the punch list items. I think they are
probably better in the south suburbs (my project was in Longmont) which
was on the far north end of their range.
Their crews were very neat and did clean up each day they worked.

I found them as they sent out a mailer that so perfectly described my basement, that’s exactly what I wanted done, what they described they would do. Even though the price has gone up for the part they sent out, they have been very fair and reasonable in pricing things. The work has gone on fine so far, everything’s fine. I think they are tad bit behind where they want to be, may be a time that was off schedule. Otherwise everything’s great.
