My 83 year old mother hired squeaks to repair her a/c. Rather than looking at the NEST thermostat to assess if the temperature settings might be contributing to the problem of frozen coils, the technician told her she needed to replace her entire cooling system. When it still wasn’t working adequately after the system replacement, the squeaks technician was continuing to bid out complex repairs of duct work and blowers costing thousands of additional dollars. We discovered on our own that the NEST thermostat was set far too low on an automatic program and was freezing the coils- thus stalling the air conditioner. At no point did the technician think to rule out this very simple solution, and it was in fact, the solution to the problem. Further, the Squeaks supervisor Larry did not take responsibility for the incorrect diagnostics and the exorbitant costs associated with a system replacement that may have been entirely unnecessary. Any repair technician that fails to rule out a simple solution and continues to charge more and more money is irresponsible at best, and possibly engaging in predatory business practices on older adults.

Horrible!! Charged me way to much and the job they did broke in 5 days. They won’t fix their own work. They said I could pay the same amount to have them do it again. What?? There is no way I’m going to pay them again to do the same job they were supposed to do in the first place. This is a scam!! Buyer beware!!

Buyer beware: go elsewhere! I recommend going elsewhere and will never use this company again. They are way overpriced and there were substantial discrepancies in their pricing schedule between the estimate and the final invoice. Very deceptive pricing practices. They agreed that the estimate and invoice were confusing when compared and alluded to making it right, yet went radio silent after that. Not a word since. However, they have been very quick to respond to public reviews (great for public optics), yet unresponsive in returning the phone call they promised (poor personal service).

Squeaks Heating & Plumbing came out to repair a furnace that supplies four condo units. I saw the van and went to the furnace room. I explained that when the furnace works, it causes a high pitch, continuous humming that vibrates through the pipes in the walls and ends up being heard in my home. I asked if he could make a point of fixing this. However, throughout the entire time, this Squeaks employee came across as dead inside. He showed no emotion, or possibly was intimidated. He only responded (in a lifeless monotone way) when I asked initially if he was with Squeaks. Then, I asked if he knew the two men's names I gave him (who are on the HOA board); and then who had arranged to have him come out. This was relevant to the humming issue. Unlike what a true professional would've done, he didn't even say as much as, "Sure, I'll try to fix that hum." But I didn't challenge his apathy because I thought I might accidentally further intimidate this mousy man, and that this would discourage him from investigating the hum - which could always clearly be heard in the furnace room when the furnace is working. He showed ZERO interest in my situation. The high pitched hum is not normal and was NEVER there originally. It's a NEW-ONSET noise that the previous repairman failed to remedy. In the past I've had two people stand inside my home to listen for it. The first man admitted he could hear it. The second man admitted to having hearing impairment and was not able to hear it. I don't believe for a second that eliminating this noise was beyond the technical skill of a typical furnace repairman. When I left the furnace room after speaking to that zombie, I JUST KNEW that he wouldn't give a flying fudge and that the hum would still be there after the furnace was fixed. I did not ask the Squeaks employee to step inside my unit to listen to the hum after he brought the heat back on, because I was completely put off by his apathetic, robot-like demeanor. And sure enough, the hum was still there after the heat was brought back on. Yes, I have heat again, but it comes with the CONTINUOUS hum-pitch, and it's WORSE than ever!! It's like my home has tinnitus. I should NOT have to hear a continous, 24/7 hum in my home. This is not a smooth, gentle hum. It's a hard pitch that can easily be heard.

From start to finish, this has been a fiasco. The plumber that showed up quoted $350, and proceeded to tell me the reason the cost was so high. It was because the cost covered his health insurance, company liability insurance, the drive time, the company overhead, etc. He removed and replaced the 6" piece of pipe within 15 minutes, and a week later three additional leaks occurred. Harder and harder to trust the service world...especially if you're female -- it's like they see a blank check and charge anything they want. I complained and was promised a call from the owner/President, and I'm still waiting more than a week later for his call. Absolutely abysmal customer service after an obviously poor "repair".

Contracted Home Depot for kitchen remodel, they subcontracted to Squeaks to reinstall sink. When plumber arrived he stated the sink reattachment was an additional $650 as the sink was too deep. It was smaller that previous sink but attached as under mount. After much hassle Home Depot agreed to split the additional cost . They ended up putting in one PVC pipe. We were ripped off. I was stuck as I needed to have kitchen sink.

Not good. I was low balled on price 45.00 when using ThumbTack for project estimate. Tech came out and evaluated the problem and then advised that the price quoted was only a trip charge and then gave 3 options ranging in price from 340.00 to 550.00. I told the tech that those prices warranted further estimates. I paid trip charge and hired another company to do the work which was 124.00 for what Squeaks would have charged 550.00. Had brass cleanout plug replaced allowing easy access and main line snaked.

It was awful. He told us our AC and furnace were really not worth servicing because they needed to be replaced immediately and quoted us $6,000 - $8,000. Since this service is something we have done every year (by various companies), we have always been told they are in good shape. We specifically asked if there was any repair that could be done to extend the lives of these appliances and we were told no. We got a second opinion and were told there is nothing to worry about.

Paid Angie's List.  Even though all equip was working, I only received a quote on replacement and was told that a service and tune up could not be done.  So I paid $99 for a "free" quote.  Very unhappy about that.

My garbage disposal was not working correctly. I did not know if it could be repaired or needed to be replaced. I spent time on the phone with Insinkerator and was not able to get the unit working again. I sent a message through Angie's List to Squeaks and got an immediate response back with a quote and scheduling options. They were able to come the next day's morning and gave me a 8-10am time frame. Two workers promptly showed up at 8:20am and put on booties when entering my house. They were able to quickly diagnose the problem and determined the unit could not be fixed. I believe I dropped a fork down into the disposal. From a trip to Lowe's the prior day I picked up a replacement and was just charged for the labor. Work was done fast and clean. New unit is running great. Check out was done on an iPad and the receipt was promptly emailed to me which was convenient. Great experience across the board.

Staff did not seem very knowledgeable and when comparing notes with others, price was high.
Response from Squeaks Services
"I apologize that you thought our staff was not knowledgeable about the repairs. We ask our call [Member Information Removed] not to quote pricing or give information on repair due to the fact they are not technicians. We want to make sure that the communication is clear to you regarding pricing and repair options from a trained technician. If we can ever help you again please feel free to contact us and we wish you luck in the future."

I've used them before. And I'm very very satisfied with them. They try everything possible to send the same technician every time. You get to build a relationship. He explains everything in detail to me and let me know what I should be doing. Very responsive, come out quickly and come when they say they will come.

Great service but then try and take advantage with any additional services/parts. Must be why their plumbing services were slow and sent plumber/tech. Therefore, I will not use again.
