North West Roofing

Over a year later and I still have a missing vent, it took almost a year to replace the porch awning, it took almost a year for them to get a permit, I replaced a tire on my suv due to multiple roofing nail left in my drive way and alley way. I was screamed at by my project manage why I asked why they wanted to be paid in full months before the work was supposed to be completed. The sent employees twice to wake up my family and babies at 7am for full payment when the work still isn’t complete, they haven’t paid for my tire. I sent them referrals and my neighbor that used them found a vent not secure properly on their roof. I found it hanging on its side. I regret sending them any referrals. I would rather jump into a den of lions than use this company ever again.

Ron at Northwest was quick and professional about providing a quote and explaining all the details. His team finished the work quickly and followed up well on some fine details. Very happy.

My sales rep was very ambitious and helped with my initial claim with my insurance company. I liked that he took the initiative and helped me with an unfamiliar situation, so I went with him. The workers were amazing and put in a very long day after seeing my house was not up to code. After the old roof was taken off, I found that my front door would not open or close without difficulty and my caulking on my ceiling molding had separated on 3 walls. I pointed that out to the sales rep after his return and he was baffled as to why that happened and made several inquiries as to what happened, and then left. After the roofers added the wood and shingles, the front door would open and close with no difficulty, which was a good thing. The most disappointing thing was that he never checked back to ask or follow up on the problem that I had. I was also told that they had a huge magnet that they would run around my house that would pick up all the stray nails. A lot that I found got thrown out, but I kept finding nails, so I started saving them to show upon his return and I never seen him. Overall, they did do a great job with my roof and gutters, but not sure why I did not get a follow-up on my door not closing and opening without difficulty, or the caulking separating. I now have 2 other interior doors that I have a problem with, one is difficult to close and one will not close at all. Not sure if that is their responsibility or not. I said yes that I would hire the again, but I wish there was a Maybe box, because what if my front door did not correct itself on opening and closing? What do I do with the doors that have problems with closing?

The roof looks beautiful and we are so pleased with the workmanship! We had no idea that the entire process would go this smoothly. I just wish there were words enough to say thank you. It looks beautiful!

Roof was completed within one week of signing the contract. All work was completed within budget and ahead of time. All workers were very cooperative and knowledgeable. I have worked as a construction manager for 40+ years and this was one of the smoothest jobs I have been associated with. County inspector indicated that the completed job is one of the best that he had seen.

Roof was damaged by hail.  North-West Exteriors  and all their representatives were very professional and kept us informed about schedules.  Richard explained the insurance process to us and answered all of our questions.  He was available when the insurance adjuster was here and helped with that process.  The office was very helpful and polite when we called.  The response time to our concerns was exceptional.

Bill Uveges, Production Mgr,  came to my house today and was extraordinarily professional, polite and efficient.  I needed a simple re-caulk of skylight and gas-stove venting, which took him about 10 minutes max.  I didn't have to plead with the company to send someone back out for warranty work.  One 30-second call was all it took.  Bill said their production staff has changed since 2008 when I first did the re-roof.  What a massive difference in customer service now.  I would not hesitate to recommend this company now.  My roof project was extensive and complicated the first time.  The quality was good, no question, but the service was challenging to put it mildly.  Today, their attitude towards customer service makes them seem like a different company.  I thought they were, actually.  Very good experience today.

The work was completed as described and on time.  Matt Rawson and his crew where professional in provide advice, estimates and sub contractors to complete the work required due to hail damage to our home.  I recommend Matt and the team for future roof and exterior work.

We had the greatest experience with North West Exteriors, not only did they upgrade our roof tiles at no charge, they were done by 3:00
PM the day they started!
Mac with the Carrigan team walked us through the entire project a few days before so we knew what to expect. The work crew was courteous and did a fantastic job of cleaning up. I have recommended them to friends and family and they have had nothing but great things to say about them as well. Our new roof looks awesome and we have gotten tons of compliments from our

UPDATE:
This as an update to my original review posted in November.
Now that the work on our home has been finished (final touch-up paint work was completed yesterday), I am pleased to say that overall I am quite happy with our new roof.  Mac was there for us through the whole thing and did his very best to make sure that everything was completed to our 100% satisfaction, despite winter weather challenges that prevented the team from completing the project more quickly, and the initial hurdles of having to fix sloppy work done by the original installation team - which I have been informed no longer works for North West Roofing.
Despite some initial challenges on the job, the team made everything right. We now have a great product on our roof that will hopefully last for the next decade. With just a new roof and a little fresh paint, our home looks 10 times better than it did when we purchased it.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
We were referred to North West Roofing by our insurance provider, State Farm, to repair our wind and hail-damaged roof.  According to our agent, North West Roofing does a lot of their work with State Farm and have a good reputation in the business. Mac, our sales rep and project coordinator, was very personable and nice to work with.  He was very responsive by phone and email and always came to meet us when and as agreed upon.  Once we signed the papers to get the work done, he really got on the ball to schedule the team to come out and do the work, and stopped by the house a couple times during the day-of installation to see how things were going.  He also made sure to check local code issues and submit several code-required changes with State Farm for approval before beginning the work, which I appreciated. The deal that North West Roofing offered us was to install a qualifying high-impact-resistant roof product for the exact amount that we were allotted by State Farm for the repair of our roof per the claim we submitted.  State Farm was only willing to pay to replace our old 3-tab roof with standard shingles, which makes sense, so the deal that North West Roofing offered was much too good an offer to pass up.  Since we were still responsible for our $1,000 deductible and were having a number of other repairs done to our home at the same time, we didn't have any extra cash to spend on the roof, so this really seemed like our best option, though we did interview a number of other roofing companies who would have been excellent options had their prices been more competitive.
Fast-forward to installation...  The guys came out and in just one day our entire roof was stripped and re-roofed!  I couldn't believe how quickly they worked!  My husband and I are extremely particular, so I had asked Mac to be sure that they did a very thorough job of cleaning up afterward and they left the house / sidewalks / yard looking nicer than it had before they arrived, which was very impressive.
The quality of the roofing work, however, was a slightly different story.  The roofers got overspray tar on our newly painted eaves and siding, the flashing around the chimneys was cut crookedly and left with jagged edges sticking out, the flashing under our eaves had gaps and was left unpainted - the shiny galvanized metal visible from any viewing point, there were big gobs of silicone patching up holes in the flashing, there were two places on the roof where the shingles weren't nailed down tight to the roof, and the roofers split two of our newly-repaired / painted facia boards and tried to nail them back together, but failed to mention the damage to us.  For someone who isn't as particular as we are, maybe this wouldn't have been a problem, but if you hire these guys and care how things are finished, I recommend looking things over at the end of the job.
On the positive side, when I emailed Mac to discuss these issues he came right out with the Project Manager two days later to look over everything with us and make arrangements for getting them fixed.  North West Roofing has agreed to send someone out to redo the poorly installed flashing and silicone work, and is paying to repair and repaint the damaged areas of facia and siding. In summary, I feel that while the work wasn't done 100% to our liking on the first go-round, Mac and the guys in charge have been extremely punctual, communicative and easy to work with, and the company seems to be committed to making things right.  We also couldn't have asked for a better deal on the product we got for the price we paid, and the whole process has been relatively stress-free, despite the issues we found.

***Please note, I revised my original rating since the work on our roof was completed recently (it took a little while due to snow and winter weather conditions that prevented the work being done sooner), and we are very satisfied with the finished work.  Mac was great to work with and the whole team worked together to make sure all the issues we encountered were corrected and that the final product they delivered was 100%.  I will happily recommend North West Roofing to anyone that wants a team committed to customer satisfaction.***

Great! the salesman was helpful and knowledgable. The finished in one day and i now have an impact resistant roof that is saving me on Ins premium. Call them and talk to Mac!

Our sales rep, Don Nichols, was a bit strong at the onset but provided everything promised  and was very attentive to the entire project.  Because of travel plans, they had to reschedule the project to an earlier time, which they were able to accommodate.  Don contacted me several times on the day of the project to keep me apprised of the progress and waited until I got home to do the final walk through.  The job was completed in one day as promised.  The crew foreman was conscientious and polite, asking our neighbor if it was okay to enter her yard to do some clean up.  The roof looks great, and they were thorough in all phases of the project.  Very thorough clean up.  No complaints at all from us.

My experience with North West Roofing, and especially their representative Don Nichols, was one of the smoothest and most hassle-free I've ever had with a contractor.  A few days after a major hailstorm hit my area, Don was out in my neighborhood talking to people about roof damage.  He was very friendly and totally no-pressure.  He looked at my roof up close and advised me that he thought it would probably need replacing.  I made an appointment with my insurance adjuster, and Don came to participate in the adjuster's inspection to make sure every element of damage was caught and reported.  North West Roofing's policy is to match their price to what the insurance company agrees to pay, which they did.  The company also did have a policy to credit the price for the amount of the customer's deductible - but a very recent change to Colorado law now prohibits contractors from doing this.  So, as an alternative, the company upgraded my shingles to the top-of-the-line (vs. standard, which I was going with originally) at no cost to me. After just a few days, my insurance claim was finalized (thank you, Amica!) and the work was scheduled for just a few days after that.  The crew arrived promptly at 7am, and I left for work.  Around 3pm, Don sent me a text message with photos of my new roof attached.  When I got home, everything was in perfect order and cleaned up, with barely a trace that an entire roof had been replaced that day.  The next evening, Don came to my home to pick up my check for full payment (I was not required to pay ~anything~ up front).One thing I especially appreciated was that Don coordinated for me all the other work I needed to have done as a result of the hail damage - about half my window screens were shredded, and the cedar pergola on my deck needed to be refinished.  That saved me a lot of time having to "babysit" several other contractors to get this work done, and I felt comfortable that the contractors North West referred were reputable and would do a great job.Overall, I found Don Nichols and North West Roofing's staff to be extremely professional, prompt, proactive, very communicative, helpful and friendly.  Not once during the process did I ever feel pressured, and I had complete confidence that the work would be done well.  I would HIGHLY recommend this company to anyone.  Hopefully I won't to replace my roof again...but if I do, I would absolutely use North West again.

They were a pain in the a** from start to finish. Materials unexpectedly delivered, put in wrong place, shoddy work, poor responsiveness, etc... Made two referals for them (before the bad experiences) and was supposed to get $100 each. It took FIVE MONTHS to finally get it, after many phones calls and bugging them. Finally when I threatened them with the BBB and state attorney general, they finally sent the check. I don't understand how j****** companies like this stay in business. If you choose them, good luck. You'll need it.

Northwest Roofing was recommended to me by a cousin of mine. I did not put the job out for bids and once they learned of this I believe that they raised the price, citing "increasing gas prices" as the reason why transportation was raising the total price. Also the damage to the roof was from regular wear and tear, however Northwest Roofing told me that they would try to convince my insurance company that it was due to a hailstorm to have them cover the costs. I found this practice to be rather unethical, and Northwest roofing even went so far as to give me false dates to make a claim to my insurance company. I did not make the claim and paid for the repair myself. Also after they had finished when it was inspected it failed the inspection and they had to return to fix the errors in the work. Although this was done at no additional fee it was frustrating that the job wasn't done properly the first time. They also promised me a special finish that they would return to install however they never followed through with this. I did not pursue it because I was happy to be finished dealing with this company. Also to be noted is that none of the workers spoke English so anything I wanted changed I had to call the owner and ask him.

The insurance company will take care of the charges. My interaction with them was good. The workers were punctual. They worked hard. They have done a pretty good job in cleaning up. I wouldn?t be able to comment on the quality since I didn?t get a chance to go up and look at the roof in daylight. They were very responsive. Their followup wasn?t quite as good once I signed the contract with them. I had to followup with the guy who I dealt with a couple of times since I asked him for something. So they were great prior to signing the contract. If they had followed up, then I didn?t have to do that. Everything looks okay when I go outside.

They were very good, very efficient, and professional. I did not pay anything out of my pocket. He had initially told us that he would absorb the charges from the deductable on our insurance. However, I don?t think that he knew that our deductable was $2000. Then whenever he sat down to give us his presentation we told him that he would take it from the deductable. He told us that he thought it would be $500 but when he got to know it was $2000 he was taken aback, and he said he would not be able to absorb that. He then went on and looked at our estimate which the insurance company did for us and they give us an allowance for $1800 and he came back and said he can do it. So basically they have absorbed from the policy. We were very pleased with them. I would definitely give him high recommendations. The supervisor who gave us the presentation came two to three times. Once they were running short of shingles, and he went and brought the shingles. They replaced the whole roof.

We contacted Northwest for an estimate in September. The estimator, Bruce Brown, arrived fairly promptly and came up with a middle of the road estimate, more than one company's estimate, less than another. State Farm was strong arming us into high impact shingles. Bruce found a way to upgrade us to high impact Malarkey shingles for no extra cost. Northwest even had to absorb some of the expense for work they performed that State Farm would not cover. At no time did they ask us for more money. I am generally pleased with the roof. We have had no leaks or other reason for concern. As several months have passed, I will note that I had to resecure almost all of the second story aluminum siding fascia panels, which were removed to install the ice shield. The crew was not very conscientious in how they reinstalled them. I noticed this after some of the big winds we had last spring. Nothing actually came off, but it was close. Clean up could have been a little better, but I have heard far worse stories than mine regarding other companies. I had Northwest sub out the gutters and downspouts, thinking it would be a seamless (no pun intended) transition from finishing the roof to installing new gutters. This was not the case and I went the better part of January and February with no rain gutters. Plus, the company owner (can't remember name) was surly and unresponsive to my requests (which were minor). The quality of the gutters is acceptable. Just the attitude and lack of interest by the subcontractor in the customer (me) was off-putting. Overall, I am pleased with Northwest, despite the issues I raised here. As I noted, I have heard of far worse experiences with other companies.

We had a very good experience with NW Roofing. Everyone we dealt with, from the estimator Joe, the foreman Bill and the owner Tom, was very professional and genuinely concerned that the job was done right. With their suggestion, we put an "Impact Resistant" shingle on and now we get a 28% discount from our insurance company on our homeowners insurance. They included many upgrades in their quote and we were able to cover everything, including the deductible, with our insurance payment. I would highly recommend them.
