There aren’t enough words. I explored many options for designing and implementing a major landscaping project for my mid-century modern home, including hiring a landscape architect to design and manage the project, to utilizing a design/build company that would do it all. It was clear that each option had pros and cons and there was no clear answer at the outset. The stakes seemed high: my property was overrun by juniper shrubs that had not been touched in close to 60 years. There were portions of the quarter-acre property that probably hadn’t been touched by human feet in decades. The house itself was completely remodeled prior to my purchase of it — it is a local mid-century gem and so deserved to have landscaping that honors it vs. detracting from it. I knew this would be a major project and I desperately wanted to work with someone who cared as much about this place as I do (or almost as much, anyway). Enter Will Hyde and Mile High Landscaping. After all those interviews with architects and other design/build companies, it became clear that this was my best option. Will is extremely knowledgeable, experienced, easy to get along with, and he listens as well as he advises. He’s a phenomenal designer who has hired and trained other phenomenal designers. The man is honest. I mean truly honest. There were many opportunities for Will or his employees to do the wrong thing — hiccups and the unexpected that come up naturally. And every single time they had the opportunity to choose, they did the right thing. Even when they didn’t know I was watching. It was simply astonishing, and so heartening, to witness people who cared about the work, took pride in it, worked well together, and communicated well and often. Here’s something else that could be easy to overlook: the owner’s relationship with his crew. I met at least three of Will’s foremen during the time my project was underway. They, too, were honest and knowledgable, as well as respectful of me and my home. And the guys who worked for them — essentially the laborers — were all clearly happy in their work, took pride in it, and got along well with those who were senior to them. I never saw a person do something halfway, and I often saw someone go above and beyond. I never heard a whispered complaint or saw an expression of frustration or anger. Everyone just seemed to get along, support each other, and know what needed to happen for the job to be a success. Over the months it took to complete the project, I saw the same faces. There appears to be no revolving door of crew at Mile High. Engaging in a project of the magnitude of this one was scary — it was a significant commitment financially as well as in time and attention. Working with Will and his team was a delight, even when the inevitable challenges arose. It’s so important to work with people one can trust who will adjust as things evolve on the project. I am so glad I took the time and effort to find and ultimately decide to hire Will and Mile High Landscaping. I will honestly say that going forward, whenever someone tells me they’re planning a landscaping project and are considering any other company than Mile High, I will respond “Why the heck would you do that?” The appearance of my beloved home is testimony to Will’s design and implementation skills. But the experience of working with Mile High can’t be seen. From my experience there is every reason imaginable to hire these guys.

From the first contact with Will, I was blown away by the professionalism, creativity and responsiveness of Will and his crew. I was involved throughout the entire process and Will worked with me to realize a vision that became an amazingly beautiful back yard that I and my friends and neighbors enjoy all year long. Even though the work was completed in 2015, Will and his team have stayed in touch and are happy to come tweak anything that arises, such as replacing lighting bulbs or repositioning the water feature to maintain a level water flow... all free of charge!

We are not "visionary" so needed help at the very beginning to help figure out what was possible as well as within our budget. Will was extremely helpful in this regard and very clear on the expectations and possibilities. The work required removal of existing concrete patio and grass, placement of new hardscape, raised plant beds, a water fountain, irrigation, lots of lighting and many plants. All of the work was performed very professionally and Will and his staff were available for and very responsive to all of our questions and any concerns. The "finished product" is amazing! It is even better than we imagined. And Will's and the company's attention and availability has continued even since the work was completed to tweak some of the lighting and irrigation in a very timely manner and to our complete satisfaction. This company might be more expensive than some, but it is entirely worth it in our estimation.

I have waited a few weeks to submit a review, given that the services provided naturally took a few weeks to show results.  Now, two week s later I can say that the service was well worth the price - the lawn shows a vast improvement in color, strength, and new growth.   I must admit I was a bit surprised that the person doing the work accomplished it all in less than 45 minutes, but it worked.
I actually had no reason for trepidation, since the work was backed by a full "do over" at no additional cost guarantee. which is rare nowadays.   Mile High will be my primary lawn care service for all my future needs.

I moved into a flip last summer.  While the inside was completely redone, on the outside the nearly quarter acre, double lot in the Highlands was all dirt.  The back door of my house opened up to a small 2x8 concrete slab, that's it.  While I had an idea of what it could become, Mile High Landscaping gave me a complete design and really challenged my thinking. Now it looks like something out of a magazine.  The most enjoyable part of the experience for me was working with Will and his team on the creative aspects.  They really worked within my budget and found cost effective solutions to obtain the desired effect.  And while we roughed out a basic outdoor kitchen area with the grill, Mile High Landscaping designed for the future for me to come back and add a bar and built in BBQ when my budget affords it. I found their pricing to be fair.  Some mornings I would come out and the crew was already hard at work.  They were friendly and efficient crew.  Working with Will was a blast and he kept me informed as to schedule and next steps.  I would highly recommend

We have absolutely no complaints about the work performed by Mile High Landscaping.  The work they performed was of the highest quality and any questions or issues we had were answered or corrected very quickly.  Because of the extent of the landscaping job, it was very much a construction zone for a couple of weeks.  Upon completion of the job, everything was cleaned up in a very professional manner.

I asked them to give me some ideas as to what I should do with this space.  The designer came back with a beautiful drawing of what my space could look like.  It was way beyond my expectations.   The workmanship was great, the plants are beautiful, the service was great and the time to complete was just as they estimated  I couldn't be happier...I just wish I had a larger yard for them to work with... I've seen pictures of some of their water features...beautiful!

This project didn't go very well for us.  I'd suggest that you take the day off and supervise ALL work being done.  They started off by digging holes for caisons in the wrong location which involved tearing up part of our paver patio that shouldn't have been torn up--supervisor read the plan wrong.  Next issue was that staining of timbers was done on our concrete driveway without proper drop cloth so very dark stain seeped into driveway.  They tried to clean it with a solvent but that didn't work, just made the driveway a dark mess. Then they tried to clean that with some acid that was applied to dry concrete so we have a splotchy mess of white spots on a dark stained drivway.  Next error was touch up staining over the patio pavers, with no drop cloth!  They tried to clean that mess with solvent and some abrasive scrubbing which destroyed the pavers.  53 had to be replaced.  Arbor is off level on one of the posts by about 3" over a span of 15 feet, clearly visible to the naked eye.  Way too many errors and apologies, I wouldn't use them again.
Response from Mile High Landscaping
"Mile High Landscaping has been installing high quality, artistic landscapes for over 9 years and has NEVER has a bad review. This client was very hard to deal with. Nit picking everything we did and saying things didn't look right even if we weren't finished. The wife sat out on the patio while crew constructed arbor and gave orders to our foreman who has over 15 years in the industry and has installed projects as large as $1.5 million. You can imagine how this makes a tough job even tougher. In construction, once in a while things need adjustments or additional cleaning. However, if the contractor is not given the opportunity to do the adjustment or cleaning, then how can it be rectified? This review represents exactly this case. Let me address the accusations one by one. We removed approximately 4 square feet of patio to dig caissons and pour concrete. Then we reinstalled pavers around posts just as we had planned and patio looked the same as before. Second the client suggested that we stain wood on driveway. We used 3 tarps to keep stain from going through, but unfortunately some stain did go through. We cleaned it with an acid based cleaner specifically used for cleaning concrete. What happened is that the areas where we used the cleaner it actually cleaned the concrete to its original color. Once we saw how it reacted, we realized we needed to clean the entire driveway with the same method, a 2 hour solution. The touch up staining some of the bricks is over exaggerated. There was a few pea sized sprinkles over a 1 square foot area that could have been cleaned easily or replaced with pavers that were removed where posts now were. The client was comparing the levelness of the arbor with the levelness of the siding which was definitely not level. There were a few things that needed additional cleaning on this job; however the client refused to let us come back for the last half a day and do remaining clean up. BOTH the client and Mile High Landscaping AGREED that if we were not to come back to do remaining clean up that we were to reduce final invoice by $500, far more than the dollars in payroll it would have taken to finish the clean up. So if we did such a bad job and the arbor was off level 3" then why did we get our final check? Anyone reading this please don't let this single bad write up in a 9 year span ruin you opportunity to work with a great contractor.
