Mike and his crew did a great job on the new roof. It was done quickly and looks great. There was a small issue which caused the roof not to pass inspection but this was repaired immediately and the roof passed the inspection.
I would not, however hire Mike's roofing again due to problems with gutters, screens and painting done along with the roofing contract. The Screens took more than two months to rescreen. Screening was loose on all screens. A friend and I removed the screening out of the windows and redid them. We used the material in the windows. The patio door was to be replaced and I asked Mike serveral times if it was ordered. He was "doing" it. I finally ordered the new one myself. He did have the old one rescreened but the screening was loose and there was a cut along the side in the screening. I have kept this one as a back up should I need one.
Gutters took days to complete and leaked (they continue to do so) in several places. Most were repaired. Corners are out of square and work is poor. The down spouts were cut and left with jagged edges and continue to constantly fly away each time it is windy (the original gutters did not do this even once in 6 years!). I have removed a couple of them to replace with drain hosing. Mike and his crew continuously showed up late for the job, a couple of times not at all. Mike and his crew were often not prepared for the job. Mike left several times to buy supplies needed to my job (and others!) after arriving. His crew would stop working until he returned.
Painting of the porch and back of the house was satisfactory. The color purchased was unfortuantely lighter than the 6 year old fadded paint on the house. Paint was spilt and splattered on the new roofing in several areas. Was told it would not hurt the integratity of the roofing materials. It does look bad. Paint on brick trim and a 3' section was missed in the back near the roof line. Due to painting issues I had to have my home repainted and chose to use another company.
I would say if you want to have your roof repaired or replaced (only) Mike's Roofing will do a great job for you. Make sure you deal directly with Mike and not others on his staff or office and that you get a timeline for the completion of work in writing. I don't think you will be disappointed with the quality of his roof work.
"Member was a custormer in the Fall of 2010, we were unable to satisfy this client after many attempts. The matter was taken out of our hands when another contractor was involved and that point we were no longer able to correct any problems. I very much wish that the matter would have been handled and that this customer would be another satisfied customer."
"Mike's Roofing LLC wants to thank you for your excellant review."
"We contracted with Member on 8/17/2010 the roof was started on 9/8/2010. The Gutter and work was then started approx. 1 week later, unfortunatly their was an error in ordering the gutter material, the wrong color was purchased and about halfway installed before it was identified as wrong. The homeowner then told Mike that the correct color was cream the metal for the cream gutters was then purchased and installed when Member then realizing the color she meant was egg shell. Again we replaced the gutter metal and reinstalled all new gutters in the correct color. Mike's Roofing took full responcibility for the error and did not charge the homeowner any additional monies, of course this caused a major delay in compleating the project. The painting was then started approx 2 weeks later we were contracted to paint the rear of the house and the porch. The job was hand rolled also requiring additional time. Apparently the homeowner noted some area's on the sides of her home which were damaged and required painting. Unfortunatly this was not brought to the attention of Mike or Mary and the worker at the job offered to do some spot painting to cover the damaged areas and protect the wood he did this on his own time and did not charge the homeowner. Member was dissatisfied with the way the spot painting came out and requested the entire house be painted, she was informed to speak with her insurance company and we would be able to get the damaged sides painted. We were quite busy this season and by the time I came back to estimate the remainting painting and contact her insurance company she had another company paint the house. Member then expected Mike's Roofing to pay for this. The matter was taken into court and a judgement for Mike's Roofing was the result, finally getting paid almost a year later. It was an unfortunate situation and measures have been taken so that the errors that occured will not happen again. Member was satisfied with all the work that had been done only that it took so long to complete, for this we bent over backwords to compensate but we refused to pay for painting done by another company. Had she allowed us to approach the insurance company she would not have had to pay for the painting herself."
