LAKEWOOD MUFFLER & BRAKE

My car was making a horrible "roaring" sound.  I took it  to the dealer to have recall work performed and asked them to determine what the noise was while it was there.  They attributed it to "just engine noise".   It definitely was not just "engine noise".
I called Nicole and Adam and they said to drop by and they would take a look/listen and see what they could figure out.
Adam drove the vehicle and in 5 minutes diagnosed an internal issue with my muffler.  They scheduled me in for the next day - worked within my schedule - and fixed the issue immediately.   Now my car just "purrs".  I am sure I would have spent much more time and money at the dealer trying to get this issue resolved.

I had a loose (swinging) tail pipe assembly that needed to be repaired. It had been replaced 18 months ago by a "discount vendor", but they short changed the job and it had failed.
The dealer can't / won't weld pipes and their only solution was to replace the entire assembly, for approximately $1200!
I showed up to Lakewood Muffler and Brake unscheduled and asked if they could do the work. They looked at it and gave me an estimate of $65 for a replacement flange/weld job. I asked if they could do the work right then and he said yes! I showed up un-announced and they were able to have me fixed and back on the road in under an hour.
It was top notch service and responsiveness and unquestionable value.

I receive an estimate over the phone for $250 and the actual price was $237, so not getting a larger surprise bill at the end was a good thing. The work was completed while I waited. The estimate was for 1 hour but it was done in 40 minutes. I crawled under the truck and looked at the work; the welds were beautiful and everything including the hangers were replaced. The technician solved a rattling heat shield problem too. Lakewood Muffler and Brake did a great job, I will definitely have them do work for me in the future.

Great service and great price.  So glad we found them - literally saved us $3400!!  The engine light came on in the truck, so took it to the dealer, who diagnosed that we needed a new catalytic converter that would not be covered by warranty.  The dealer wanted over $4200 for a new one!  Immediately went to Angie's List and found the Lakewood guys - who explained that they could weld a new  in while leaving the factory flanges in place - not sure why the dealer couldn't do it! 
The Lakewood guys, and the very knowledgeable woman who works there, were all very nice and professional.  Only drawback was that it can be hard to get them on the phone - but keep trying, the savings are worth it!

My "check engine" light was on and I had the problem explained by an auto parts store (catalytic converter).  I took my car to the usual place that I have auto work done and they told me the cost would be $1,800 because my auto has "California Standards Eqpt".  I told them 'no thanks'.  I looked on Angie's List for a muffler shop and found Lakewood Muffler and Brake, I checked the BBB and they were A+ rated so I took my car to them.  They suggested that I pay $90 to analyze why the catalytic converter went bad in the first place, so I did.  They discovered the underlying problem, fixed it, put on a new catalytic converter, changed my oil and my total due was $835.  They also advised me of another problem on my car but, it was just an 'advisory', absolutely no pressure to return to fix it.  Even though the sign says "Muffler and Brake" they are a general repair facility and you can guess that I have a new auto repair shop.

Lakewood Muffler and Brake was recommended to me by another shop who didn't do exhaust work, and they were great! I thought there was a leak in the manifold of my Jeep GCOverland, but it turned out only the gasket needed replacing. Labor price was reasonable, my Jeep was finished in a few hours, and they didn't find anything more wrong with my vehicle, (which, sadly, happens every time I bring it in for any sort of work, except this time!)
They were honest and competent, I highly recommend them!

They worked out well. They did a good job. We had it done before we sold the car and they seemed to do it pretty efficiently and cost effectively.
