I will never use this company again. It was a terrible experience from the first day on the job, until present -- where they have not returned my phone calls to schedule the warrenty work. Yes, after two years there is some peeling paint. I had the house painted by Ken Caryl during the summer of 2012, and it required daily babysitting on my part to ensure that they properly patched, primed, and painted the trim. They skipped over items mentioned in the contract and painted over wet work. In a word.....SLOPPY. The owner is very nice and convincing during the estimate, the painters gave the impression that they were being rushed by management and thus forced into low quality work. The paint brushes they used for the hand work, were thick and gooey with dried up paint, clearly not how one achieves a nice brush stroke. On their behalf, I do expect very high quality work when hiring a professional at a fair price, my expectations are probably much higher than average.

First of all, Ken Caryl Painting is NOT an accredited BBB business. He falsely advertises on his website that he is an accredited BBB business and is illegally using the BBB logo. I filed a complaint with the BBB yesterday after an hour of conversation with the BBB. They are NOT happy.

My contract clearly stated they would use REDWOOD, which is a higher grade wood known for its longevity and appearance. They completed the deck using 100% cheap treated lumber and tried to slip that past me because I was out of town during most of the construction. It saved them approximately $1000.00!! The job was promised to be complete in 5 days and it took them 28 days. The owner, Rick Kubacki told me numerous times they would be at my house and there were days with no work being done. The crew would often sit for hours wondering what to do because there was little to no communication between the owner and the crew. I was repeatedly lied to by Rick and his crew leader concerning the actual scope of work to be done. He would argue with me over details of the job instead of act professionally. They built the deck up against a leaning fence that didn't belong to me and argued with me when I demanded that it be repaired. They advertise that they never add something extra to the final bill but they attempted to charge me an extra $670 due to their negligence in the original estimate. They attempted to use lag bolts to connect the deck to the house when I specifically told them not too, due to the age of our foundation. I was constantly being "bulldogged" by the workers to do things differently than the way it was discussed. We had a bench built along the house to hide the foundation cracks. The foundation was supposed to be 100% concealed and they insisted that they use cheap lattice and therefore not built the way we discussed.

Whenever I confronted Rick about the debacle in my back yard, he would lie to me. He told me I was taking advantage of HIM!! The fact is that his workers are untrained and inexperienced and had no idea how to build my deck and cost him a ton of money standing around with nothing to do and he refused to correct the matters above because he would have been further in the hole financially. When he came to me for payment, I told him we needed to make amends somehow with the wrong and cheap lumber that was used. I was not happy but I agreed to a $400 discount and he told me when Spring came, he would personally come over and sand the entire deck and then stain it at his cost. Spring came and can you believe he had the audacity to stain my deck without sanding it? I confronted him once again about lying to me and he got irate with me and insists he sanded it. The stain job is sub-par and has drips everywhere. It looks like a 5 year old stained my deck.

If you want a contractor to lie to you every step of the way, then Ken Caryl is for you.

I cannot even tell you how perfect the ceiling lines are in all the rooms!  Spot on perfect!  There are a few spots that were not painted heavy enough, but they painted 2800 square feet with cathedral ceilings.  I would highly recommend them to anyone!

Did not execute plan as discussed during the scope of work evaluation. Workers complained within first hour of job. Re-texturing job was awful and had to be re-done. Did not follow paint specifications - some areas were painted the wrong color. Door/hinges were not marked or put back to their original location.  Owner never returned to fix the problems as he promised.  Overall, a poor quality job - several areas need to be repainted.  Do not use this company - you'll just be frustrated.

Awesome job. I would definitely use again. they did not require me to pay until I was 100% OK with the job - which i was. All the guys were great!! They give you a quote (and hashed out certain details that I wanted quoted individually) and stick to it.

The crew was on time and efficient. They listened to everything I asked and were very willing to do the little extras like install the new shutters and do the front door over when it wasn't quite right. It took 4 days from start to finish which was a little longer than I expected, but hey it didn't cost me any more.

I sent four photos of the upper story of my home to seven paint contractors that I found on Angie's List, told them what needed to be done and to please contact me if interested. Rick from Ken Caryl was one of the first to come out and made a very professional bid. Two others came, and several others contacted me after the bid had been awarded. Rick's bid was not the lowest, but his very impressive and informative packet of information that arrived with the bid was a strong selling point. Once he received the bid I was contacted and told when to expect the house to be power washed and when the painting would begin. Everyone arrived as scheduled and the work was completed, and when they left there was no sign they had been here. They were meticulously neat and clean. A very professional outfit!

One thing I really liked about Ken Caryl Painting is that they guarantee their work. They were very helpful to me in color selection. This contractor was very responsive and called me back quickly. I had checked with other painters and none of them returned my calls. They were on time and cleaned up very well. They did exactly what I wanted them to.

Gave me an estimate within a few days after I called. Started the job on time and substantially finished within the time they said job would take. The very end of the job took quite awhile to be completed. They did a good job of cleaning up before leaving each day, but there were paint spots I cleaned after they left for the day. The end result was the best paint job I've had in 30 years.

We couldn't have been more pleased with the job done by Ken Caryl. The job took more time than they estimated, but they were thorough in making sure things were done right. I was hesitant to have a painting company repair so much of my damaged siding, but their work was superb and at a reasonable price. Their price was not the cheapest we received, but also not the most expensive. The crew led by Steve was very polite and courteous to my wife who was home alone with my infant son. Only non-A rating was for the delay in making it to my house for an estimate. The estimator was more than an hour late, but they did call to let me know. Were always on time for the job itself. The house looks great and we plan on using them again for an inside job!

WE WERE VERY SATISFIED. THEY SHOWED UP WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD, WORKED WITH US TO SUPPLY SAMPLES TO OUR HOMEOWNER'S ASSOCIATION, & FINISHED WHEN PROMISED. THEY DID NOT EXPECT PAYMENT UNTIL THE JOB WAS COMPLETED & WE WERE SATISFIED. WE HAVE ALREADY RECOMMENDED THEM TO SEVERAL NEIGHBORS.
