They were very honest. He told us about an issue with mu neighbors fence that required a retaining wall. I was very happy with the results. They fixed a rose garden in my front yard. I think he a super nice guy. I was very impressed.

He does a really good job. He does beautiful work and I have been using him for 5 years now. I will continue to use him. He is dependable, he shows up every week on a specific day. He does very through work and he has even done yard clean up. He is very efficient, quick and we have a good working relationship. I will continue to use him.

I was on vacation for a few weeks and I called Hector and told him if it snowed to come by and shovel any day because I didn't want my house guest to have to shovel. He did take care of it and sent me a bill later. I like him.

Someone in Hector's family always answers the phone--maybe his wife? She tried to be very helpful, but she didn't know Hector's schedule so I had trouble getting a specific time for an estimate nailed down. She would say something like, "he might be able to do it tomorrow afternoon, I will have him call you tomorrow." This was problematic for me--I couldn't just wait around the house all day for Hector to call me. As a result, it took several attempts and rescheduling to get Hector to the house for an estimate.
When we were finally able to set up a specific time, Hector came to the house on time. I walked around the house showing Hector what I wanted to do. Hector seemed very thorough, professional, and knowledgeable. He asked a lot of questions and made what seemed like good suggestions. After we walked around, Hector and Jacob (who works with Hector), walked around a lot more taking measurements and made phone calls to material suppliers for current prices. I had Hector provide me two different estimates--one for doing the whole backyard in 3/4" rock, another for doing most of the backyard in 1 1/2" rock but one side-yard in mulch.
Hector's two estimates were $4000 for the 3/4" plan and $4400 for the 1 1/2" plan. This seemed a fair price--the estimates I got from other landscapers were $3500 and $8000. Hector provided a more thorough and comprehensive review for his estimate than the other landscapers I had provide estimates. I also sensed that Hector was more trustworthy than the landscaper that gave me the lowest bid. I could tell that Hector would be closely involved with everything and took great pride in his work.
I told Hector I would hire him for the job, but I wanted a little time to figure out which plan to go with. Hector left to go get samples of rocks for me, and my fiance and I drove out to look at other people's yards. About 15 minutes after Hector left the house, he called me back to tell me he'd made a mistake he realized in talking further to the rock-provider. Because the 3/4" rock is more dense (fills in more), more weight would be needed to cover the space, and the rock would cost about $800 more than he told me. Because this was his mistake, Hector offered to split the cost of the mistake with me, making the total on the 3/4" plan $4400, the same as it would be for the 1 1/2" plan.
We ended up going with the 3/4" rock plan. Hector told me he could start the next day and that the job should take two days. He explained that he would drop someone off in the morning to start doing prep-work, and then the full crew would start later in the morning when all the supplies were there.
The job went as Hector had explained. He dropped someone off in the morning to start digging and cleaning up. Later in the morning Hector showed up with the truck full of mulch and the walk-behind kind of shovel (which Hector explained he rented instead of a skid-loader because the bigger skid-loader is h****** the grass and he would need to drive across the grass a lot to spread the rock around the perimeter of my yard (the middle was grass and the borders were all dirt).
Hector's crew worked hard. Everyone was careful with all of our property and things. Hector was clearly careful with what he did, and when he was unsure about anything he would bring me to look at it and ask if I thought it was ok. This was rare, and I was always ok with what Hector had done. I wasn't entirely satisfied with how Hector had corrected the grade around the back of the house and I pointed it out to him. Hector was quick to make corrections, and fixed the issue to my satisfaction.
Hector was concerned that we hadn't found all the sprinkler heads because there seemed to be a big stretch of yard without one. My fiance and I had just bought the house after the system had been winterized so we didn't know where the sprinkler heads were. Hector suggested that we turn the sprinklers back on to find out where they all were--then we could have someone come out and blow them out again for the winter. We did, and found that there was a sprinkler head we were missing. Hector provided the name of a sprinkler-worker who was able to come out and blow the sprinklers back out the next day.
Hector finished on time and we paid the price that we agreed on up-front. Overall, we were very pleased with the work. Hector and his crew were punctual, thorough, careful, hardworking, and professional. I will use Hector again for any other landscaping I do.

They were extraordinarily reasonably priced, did high quality work. I highly recommend them. I can't wait to be able to use them again.
