I had a few projects done by Grandview deck and patio. First it was a patio and then two years later I did a covered addition to it. I was promised from Darrell that they were going to send somebody out and fix part of the patio that had concaved in. I was also promised to have somebody come out with concrete and fix the bottom of the concrete poles that were put in to my patio cover. Numerous calls were made and no one has ever gotten back to us. They basically took their money and ran.

We chose the pavers for our new patio, in part due to the expansive clay soils in our neighborhood and the effect they had on our old broken poured concrete deck.  The final appearance of the patio project has proven to be a real upgrade of our property, and we look forward to entertaining outside on the new patio!
Overall, this deck project went very well, and we are very pleased with the final result.  The new deck was built according to our originally agreed upon design, and completed within budget.  The complete job took about 10 business days.  I was home most of the time the work was under way, and the quality of the workmanship and attention to detail were impressive.  We have some extensive mature landscaping in proximity of the deck project, and the crew did an excellent job of both working around said landscaping and cleaning up at the conclusion of the project.
Darrald's team did a great job for us!  The decision to contract with Grand View Deck was reached after both the receipt of the bid and Darrald provding me the opportunity to inspect a number of other local jobs he and his crew completed.  In each, the quality of the workmanship was apparent.

Their price is comparable for the work they have done. Daryl, who is the owner, did a very good job on the proposal. We had no problems there. The guys came out when they were scheduled. The concrete guy that Daryl subcontracted with, he had a crew that wasn’t his normal crew and so on the concrete work, they had to re-float the patio because they didn’t stamp it. They brushed it instead of stamping it but they did a great job. They were really good. The guy that was subcontracted that did the deck was absolutely phenomenal. He did a fantastic job. They made everything right which other companies don’t. They came a little bit earlier.

The paver patio turned out great, and the guys who worked on it were fast, professional, polite and did quality work. The stairs however were a different matter. The stairs crew leader was supposed to come out and mark where the posts would be while the patio was going in, but never showed up so the patio guys just finished all the way. Then it took a month and a half to get the stairs started. So of course the patio had to be ripped up in the area where the posts needed to go. Then the stairs were built, with a landing and right angle turn for the bottom third. Somehow the hand rail didn't tie in to the posts correctly, one was left with 8 inches sticking out into the landing area, and some of the ends of the spindles were left unstained. They came out and fixed things, and the mistakes weren't glaringly noticeable, but I wished the details had been handled better. I would recommend them for patios, but the deck stairs part of the project was a little frustrating. Overall the stairs are functional and sturdy, but not done as well as they could have been.

Requested a quote via Angie's List on 13 June 2012 for labor & materials to repair a deck staircase that had some rotted wood.  Darrald, owner of Grand View Deck & Patio, performed an on-site consultation on 19 June and verbally provided me a quote for $300 for the repair.  Later that evening I received a formal written proposal for the job from him for $340 (a $40 increase from the verbal quote).  Job was scheduled for 22 June 2012.  Darrald's foreman, Hugo, and his two workers (Junior & Brandon) arrived early and completed the job.  Soon after they departed, I noticed a quarter-inch separation between the right-side fascia and the deck and a quarter-inch extension of the fascia past the first stringer.  Previously there was no separation or extension (both were flush).  I informed Darrald of this issue the same day to see if he could resolve the issue, but have yet to receive a response (17 days later).

When I contacted Grandview, Darrald arranged promptly to review the condition of the supports for the steps leading from my deck.  He quoted me a very fair price (including my 5% senior discount), and arranged an appointment for Hugo to do the work in a few days. Hugo communicated with me about timing so that I would know when to expect him.  Hugo completed the work in a timely manner, and was very friendly and knowledgeable.  He told me that further work would be required in about one year's time to replace the side supports.  I asked him to notify me next year as a reminder, which he said he would do.  I was very impressed with the professionalism and friendly manner of both people, and would recommend this company highly for doing deck work.

The job went very well overall. the only problem I had was communication with the management. They did not always call back with updated start time as promised. The clean-up after the job took 2 days longer than planed due to equipment promlems. Overall, very good job.

They did an excellent job.  They had two different crews.   A two man crew worked on the deck, and then more men tore up the existing deck at that time.  Then an additional 7 or 8 that worked on the patio itself with paving stones.  They were doing some grading and tamping and getting the stones around and then one man that cut the stone and placed it.  He was an artist, he was really good.  I was very pleased with it.  Darroll the owner, a very likeable guy, was out on the site three to four times looking everything over to make sure that it was being done correctly.  They came in on budget and on time and did just an excellent job.  We had a number of contractors come out and take a look at it, but Darroll was not the best price, but he was not the worse price either, but he was right in there with everyone else.  They came right in at about what I expected and that's what they did the work for.  I think they did a much better job.  These guys laying the stone did a great job too.  Darroll was there any time I called he answered quickly and came out on site if I needed him.  They got it done on time.  If there were any questions, Darroll had the answers.  I would continue to use their service in the future if necessary.

He did the most perfect job of building a deck, that I was glad to pay the extra amount for the job that he did. I needed some minor corrections, and they sent someone out very quickly to correct everything. They were very courteous and did not mess around. They are a good company, and I highly recommend using them for builing decks.

Job went very well; Darrald worked with me to get the design right, and his crews did a fantastic job of getting the old structures torn out quickly, and a fantastic job building the replacements.  In all, I couldn't be happier with the work.
