Our furnace would not come on when we came home from a weeklong trip. I called Golden West, made an appointment, and Carlos arrived right on time to check it out. In less than 5 minutes, he had the panels off, and located a loose wire at the control board. He installed the wire, and the furnace fired right up. He then double checked the rest of the wiring. He suggested and we had him do a maintenance / inspection of the unit. Carlos explained everything to me as he went, and did a superb job performing and documenting the inspection. It is obvious he knows his stuff. We are very pleased with the quality of work Carlos performed, and will call Golden West for any HVAC issues.

They had a special running for a $39 service charge, so I had a guy come out and inspect my garbage disposal which wasn’t working. Guy was on time. He spent maybe 2 minutes looking at the garbage disposal, spun the top blade and then the bottom blade, attempted to turn it on, and said it was broken. I had done all of those things previously. Then he offered to install a garbage disposal off the truck for $1000. He proceeded with a further sales pitch about a membership program where you pay more to pay less. I bought a garbage disposal for $100 at Home Depot and he tried to charge me $500 for the disposal on the truck. Not sure about other work, it if it’s a problem with your garbage disposal, don’t call these guys

I cannot recommend Gold West highly enough. We had a pipe burst in our kitchen and flood the kitchen and living room shortly before we moved from out of state. Luckily a landscaping company noticed the water coming out of the house and shut off the water too the house. Unfortunately, when he did this our 40 year old boiler stopped working. We called Golden West to find the burst pipe in the wall, as well as repair the boiler. Not only had we not moved to Colorado yet, we were actually on vacation in Hawaii when this happened. Working with Jason and Zach was a huge relief. They kept us informed of what was happening in the house and helped us find a restoration company to dry everything out. Given our fantastic experience working with Jason and Zach, we ultimately decided to update the plumbing throughout the house and replace both the boiler and hot water heater with a combination unit, which is much more efficient. Given the extent of the initial leak, we were able to actually see their work when we arrived, as the walls were not repaired yet. The new plumbing looks clean and the combination boiler is wonderful. The contractors that have come to the house to give bids to replace our kitchen have all commented on how nice the boiler install looks. Highly, highly recommend Golden West. The picture uploaded is before the cover was installed on the boiler but shows the mounting and metal plating.

Worthless. $90 down the drain. I will find anther HVAC company. This one has moved into the toilet. Had a previous tech brag about how much he was able to charge people. This bunch is the bottom. Do better, select someone else.

After using this company for years my last two projects with them have not been good. The most recent one it took them a month to complete a two day job because of their workers not showing up for work. They missed 3 scheduled appointments on nice weather days. They own employee didn’t even know that his co-workers weren’t showing up until I told him by text (see pictures). I paid them in full before they completed the project since I had used them in the past. BIG mistake. Do not pay them until they are 100% done or they may not finish the job. Only when I threatened to go to the BBB did a manager step in. Even with this poor customer service they wouldn’t even give me a 10% discount to account for what they did, and only gave me $450 of an over $8K project. They think not showing up for work is fine where at most companies no show no call means that someone gets fired. Also do not trust the BBB’s rating of them. I filed both a complaint against them and gave them a bad review neither of which the BBB posted on their site or took into account in their rating since the BBB said that this issue was outside of their scope. Be careful using this company because they cannot be trusted.

I rarely ever give bad reviews but I feel that I must in this situation.  First, I was referred to this company by two of my best friends right I after I went into a panic after getting a washer/dryer delivered and found out that I had 2 leaky faucets - so bad that we couldn't wash clothes until this was fixed.  Here I am a naive new homeowner who hasn't had to call a plumber in the past so I'm not totally up on going rates.  I will give GW props for 1) they were great on the phone when I called to see about getting a same day appointment, and 2) the plumber was on time and got the job done.

Why am I  giving a poor to fair review?  After I had the work done and I paid the plumber, I tell my story to multiple other contractors, 2 independent plumbers, and my prior landlord who has rentals and has experience with contractors.  They all told me I paid WAY too much for having 2 faucets replaced.  I thought it sounded high when the plumber told me the price before doing the job, but, again I was desperate and in a bit of panic mode.  Hindsight is 20/20 and going back, I would have never paid such a high price for that job.  I must also point out that I take full responsibility as I accepted the price and OK'd the job to be done.  Here's the part that made me leave this bad review.  I call GW and ask to speak with someone to get some clarification about the exorbitant high cost of this job.  I didn't want to call and ask for money back, again I made the mistake of not being more patient and getting at least 2 more quotes.  The nice girl who answered the phone at GW acted professional and respectful of why I was calling.  I explained that I didn't want to go post bad reviews for GW and she agreed that they take their social media reviews seriously.  So after getting my name and phone number, she said a Service Manager would contact me within 24 hours.  That was 5 days ago and I have not received a call.  That is why I am leaving this bad review as I feel that if someone tells me they are going to call to discuss my concerns, it's very bad form to not call at all.  I threw away the $50 referral coupons the plumber left me and will not refer GW to anyone.

Support your local independent contractor - even though they can be headaches to deal with at times.

The person who booked the appointment was pleasant enough, and the technician came out promptly.  He said the  AC unit was 20 years old and recommended replacing it, which I was not willing to do at this time, and certainly not without pricing various options. He then said it would be $1000 to clean and service it.  He tried to upsell me an anti-freeze unit for an extra $300, which I declined.  Since it's right before a holiday weekend, and no other HVAC shops I called had availability, and I have a tenant living in the house, I didn't have a choice but to pay the outrageous amount.  I think the fair value of the work they performed was about $300.  Complete rip off.  When I questioned what cost so much (were there replacement parts needed?) he said no, it was just the time involved.  Two people - a certified technician and a helper, about 2 1/2 hours, $1000.

Other than write this review and hope others avoid this company, I don't know what other recourse I have.  Try Comfy Cave or MacVik in Golden.

We were out of town and our cat sitter informed us that our heat wasn't working. We called Golden West to take a look at it. The technician said he needed to fix our "low voltage control system" and it would cost $350. I figured it must be something kind of complex but we didn't want our pipes to burst, so we agreed. In the back of my mind, I thought, "Surely they aren't just scamming me by referring to the thermostat as the 'low voltage control system.' That would be like a car mechanic telling you that your 'primary lubrication system needed overhauling' and then charging you $350 for an oil change." But yes, they were scamming me in exactly that way.
It took the technician about 10 minutes to install a $50 thermostat (I checked the same make and model on Lowe's website) and the bill was $350. I don't even want this thermostat (I want a programmable one) and he never told me he was installing it. Had the technician used the words "replace your thermostat" I would have told him not to because that price is outrageous.
On top of that, it didn't fix the problem. I had them come back out to take another look and they claimed that there was a different problem now so that cost me another $200 to fix. That would have been reasonable (the technician cleaned out our combustion gas venting), except that shortly after the technician left, it stopped working again.
I'm calling someone else to fix the problem now. Hopefully third time's a charm.

The price was good bit left dents in the wall, one of the heating ducts was not sealed and they installed a vent such that we couldn't replace the cover. Rather than fixing the problem they left the vent cover for us to deal with.

The furnace replacement did not fully fix the issues and Golden West was very responsive to live up to their warranty. They visited 5+ times until it was repaired.

The workers were very nice and they worked incredibly hard. We were totally surprised by the price; we did not have time to search for better pricing and after the fact we discovered we could have had a bigger and better boiler put in at a much lower price. They charged us about $8600 and we could have had a bigger and better boiler for $4200. Needless to say their pricing is totally ridiculous. They are responsive and try to be on time but we more than likely won't use them again due to their pricing.
One other comment: when it was time to get the permit finalized through the municipality, the girl who called to get the permit # was rude and impatient because we were in the processing of packing our home to move and we could not find the permit. She sighed and said she would call the city to get the permit #.

Came on the day called, although we had a hiccup when we didn't answer their phone call that they were coming.  We called back later and they came that evening. Rick did the work and was great to work with, showed us with a camera what our problems were and gave us our options for a final solution.  We are now putting out bursting our sewer line for bid, and Golden West is one of our candidates.

Company was very responsive to my request and was able to send someone out next day.  Technician was right on time.   Spent about 2.5 hours replacing a 7 inch section of copper piping that went from the water meter 'yoke'  to the rest of the house.  Service was expensive as it cost almost $400 with minimal material  to replace (the afore-mentioned 7 inches of copper piping).  Although the technician was up front about the expense based on his pre-defined work order estimates.  Still, I would shop around for better rates.

They arrived later than expected due to another job going longer.  They did communicate with us regarding the situation and offered to reschedule if a later time didn't work.  They were unable to clear the pipe & showed us why with a camera.  They gave us an estimate of what it would cost to fix the issue.  We contacted another company for an estimate.  Their estimate was lower.  If we had gone with this company, they didn't have a clue where the pipe was (under cement).  It would have cost us even more, as they would have destroyed concrete in the wrong place.  They were correct in reason the pipe wasn't draining.

Called them on Thursday morning when our drain clogged for the entire house - our house is older, and has earthen pipes leading out to the street, but complicating matters was the fact that their drain grinder was a very heavy model that couldn't make the turns to get through our drain from the toilet - forcing them to remove the toilet, and then to quote out digging up our drain pipe and installing access in the front yard.

Annoying as this was I permitted them to proceed.  When they got into the pipe, they then put in the grinder and cleared the pipe - and then the put in their video camera and checked the entire length of the pipe - they found significant roots getting through the links in the earthen pipe (each buried segment of this pipe is only 3' long) - they then saw a small puddle collecting in one of the pipe links (an inevitable consequence of this pipe design) and then started pitching us the $4500 dig up the yard and install a new drain pipe quote - and not the $1600 access.  I reluctantly agreed to move forward with the pipe installation, however, that night, I dug through the paperwork and talking with the wife, realized that the $4500 was a DELTA and that the total was more like $6100 - I freaked out as they'd run my credit and the price of the work seemed to conveniently suck up all the credit they'd been told about.  I then did some more googling about drain pipes and found stuff talking about those puddles in the pipe, and that they're common, but not enough reason to replace the pipe - earthen pipe can last for a LONG time without being replaced I learned, and that as long as it's not broken, leaking or otherwise compromised beyond roots coming in the segments, it can go just fine - as long as you install the access and plan to grind it out from time to time using a rental grinder from Home Depot.

The next morning, I called them up and called off the $6100 new drain pipe installation - I got a little disappointment from them, but they came out anyway and performed the access installation - and they did a great job - once they were done, aside from a couple of access ports (one going each way) in the front garden, you can't tell they did anything.  They'd even gotten the city to map out my gas lines and complete drain path, and they had the city come out and inspect the work when it was completed.
