We decided to remodel our basement in 2019, and, of all the companies we interviewed, FBC Remodel offered the most organized, best designed, most exciting plan. They took care of everything, from conducting an inspiring design meeting to contracting to mitigate asbestos and wall bracing to carefully working to add finishing touches to make it all beautiful. They stayed exactly on schedule and communicated clearly with us at every step. We are in love with the result. In fact, FBC’s renovation of our basement has made us feel like we purchased a new home. They turned an outdated, largely unusable space into a multi-use space we love. We would recommend this company to anyone.

After a flood in our lower level, a friend referred us to FBC and it was the perfect answer to solve our problems. The design group was excellent in their creativity, Captain Kyle was our project manager and he was my life line keeping me informed of every detail ... the work was first class ! I highly recommend this group which goes beyond expectations in every way?

I wanted to share about our recent basement finish project. We worked with FBC Remodel out of Denver. It has been a dream from start to finish. They provide design services including 3D visualizations. They clean up daily way beyond what we anticipated. There is an app that has a project calendar that was basically perfect timed. They always showed up when they planned to and we never got any excuses for delays. The project manager showed up daily to log the progress, take pictures, ensure everything was clean and check in with us. I just couldn't imagine a better experience. They work on everything from unfinished basements to bathroom remodels, home bar/theatre build-outs, and beyond. Check them out at their website ([*** Link removed ***] or call them directly. 303-227-3636 Please reach out to me if you have any questions about the process. PLEASE TELL THEM THE GAMBEE'S REFERRED YOU.

It turned out great. They were very good. They were not the least expensive but for the quality that we felt that they gave to us, it was well worth it. I would grade them very highly. I had no issues all the way through and they met the deadline that we asked them to meet even though there was a delay that my wife and I created during the middle of it. We ordered the wrong type of tile, decided against it and had to re-order tile. They still ended up meeting the deadline. We've referred them. It took them eight weeks to do it. They left the area extremely clean throughout out the process. They keep things picked up and cleaned up.

EXCELLENT. VERY PROFESSIONAL, EASY TO WORK WITH! The project took a little longer than expected but we were more concerned about quality than time. That is what they provided- QUALITY!

Finished Basement Co was one of 5 basement finishing companies that we solicited bids from. It came down to them and Basements and Beyond. In the end it was an excruciating decision because they both put together amazing designs for our basement but in the end you can only pick one and we thought that FBC had just a touch better design. (Both B&B and FBC use computer 3D visuals to walk you through their designs which is an absolute must in my opinion) Our thanks go out to Julia Zettler who put together an amazing design. There's not a single design element that we would change and she really did a great job capturing exactly what we wanted. She also was very good at steering the money for our project towards those elements that we cared most about.

The project started on time and without any issues. David Grebe, our project manager, did an excellent job bringing Julia's design to life and working with all the trades to make sure everything went off without a hitch. He even went to great lengths to get our 12 ft shuffleboard table through one of the window wells. One thing that FBC does exceptionally well (I'm sure David deserves a lot of credit for this as well), is having all the various trades (subcontractors) work together seamlessly. For example, if an issue came up the framer and electrician, they would just dial each other up and speak directly. Having such great communication between all the trades means that things get done right the first time. Even for subcontractors that we were responsible for (the wine closet and audio/video) were able to directly contact FBC's trades if an issue needed to be worked out with the electrician or framer. I can't imagine things going smoothly without such good communication. FBC's trades are also very good - great craftsmen.

The project came in only a few days after the deadline and on budget. Really can't think of anything meaningful that we would have done differently and I would recommend FBC to anyone looking to redo their basement. They won't necessarily be the cheapest, but they will be the best.

I received an e-mail from Angie's List requesting me to review this company. I'll start by clearly stating my experience with this company was 10 years ago. Hopefully, they have changed their policies. Matt Cook was our "personal design consultant." He was pleasant, likable and professional. I do believe he is still with FBC but in Minnesota and not Colorado. At that time, FBC required a "retainer" to generate plans. It usually ran between $500 - $2,500 or $1 - $2 per sq. ft. For that amount you would receive two or three designs. If you moved forth with hiring FBC, that money would be credited towards the final contract price. You had up to 90 days to do this. If you did not hire them, the money was not refunded. Today, I would not even considered them for that very reason. At the time, life was hectic and I thought that they must be pretty confident in their work if they charged that price up front. They had six pages, front and back of references. I called several and got all good reviews; therefore, my husband and I proceeded to give FBC $2,000 to design plans. They in return gave us three designs, none of which we could use. We knew almost exactly what we wanted. We had been designing our basement for probably two years, if not longer. We had measured and drawn out our plans but the software we used was pretty primitive. There were also some problem areas that only a professional could determine if what we came up with would actually work. The plans they presented to us disappointingly were nothing like what we had showed them we wanted. Second thing I would do differently today, I would fight to get my $2,000 back. I can't imagine how FBC, in good faith, could justify that kind of money to design plans in the first place. No one else at the time did this. We had another contractor come out. He obviously was a visionary because before our meeting was over, he had all of our problem areas solved. We hired that company and have a beautiful basement. This is somewhat sad on my part but I still get angry at myself when I think that we allowed ourselves to literally throw $2,000 away.
Response from FBC Remodel
"Over the years we have evolved a lot as a company. Today have offices in Denver, Minneapolis and Chicago. In these markets we do not charge a fee for our up front design work. Instead we meet with our clients, outline project expectations up front, and then work with them through the design process until they feel comfortable with both the plan and the budget for the project, then, and only then, do we collect a deposit on the project. I'm sorry that you had a bad experience with Finished Basement Company! Even though it was a long time ago, I'm bothered to hear that you were not fully satisfied!"
