I did not have a good experience with the administrative offices of Father & Sons Moving. The week of my move I called for a quote and the representative was able to beat my other quotes. He also took an additional 5% of the hourly fee since all I needed was someone to unload a trailer and put the stuff in my garage or apartment. On the day of the move I didn't have the exact numbers we had agreed on with me so I signed the paperwork figuring it was accurate. After the move was complete and the movers had left, I realized I was overcharged compared to the price the representative quoted. I called the administrative offices three times and each time was told I signed the contract and so that was the price - even though I had been quoted a lower price. Each time I called, the person said they would look into it for me and get back to me -- this never happened so I gave up. The movers themselves were fantastic and quick which is why they received high ratings above. However, do to the problems with the administrative offices I will NEVER use this company again and will have to look elsewhere for my upcoming move.

Being seasoned movers, we received three estimates. Father and Son was lowest; they were flexible about scheduling and understanding about weather delays. Movers arrived shortly after scheduled time and worked at a moderate pace. They did not take all pieces in the first load, which took nine hours. The movers urged us to let them go back for a second load, but we declined. Upon payment we were told that we were also required to pay a travel, fuel, and overtime charges. Some damage to doors, walls, and furniture was sustained during the move. We were assured that they would honor a damage claim after the move. When we contacted the Denver office to file a claim, we were told to submit a written request to Florida corporate office for a claims form. We immediately submitted the claim form, completing all info on damage, value, weight, age of pieces damaged, etc. Within a week, we received a form letter of denial, indicating that they were not responsible for any of the damage.

They were an hour late. Then they disappeared for almost an hour (which I had to pay for). I also had to pay for the hour they spent sitting in their truck yakking on the phone while I WALKED to my new home. They wanted me to move the furniture into the house (up 2 flights) because they didn't feel like it. Then around noon they decided they weren't going to finish the job because they wanted to take the afternoon off. I had to be out of my condo, and 2/3's of my possessions were left there. They damaged my furniture. They damaged my house. I had one box marked FRAGILE! THIS SIDE UP! One mover picked it up, read it, turned it upside down and let it drop, then laughed at the shocked expression on my face. Then I had to sign a paper saying everything was in excellent shape and pay them before they'd consent to move anything out of the truck. A horrible experience.

I would never hire these people again and would discourage anyone from hiring them. They do not back up what their employees say and deny any responsibility. I have no problem with the 3 men who did the actual work (they all received a very nice tip from me), but the company is suspect. They may have been in business since 1908 but I wonder how many people have had the same experience as me. They won't be in business long if this practice continues. Scratches on furniture is to be expected during a move but not a computer desk broken before your eyes or a lamp broken in the truck which they are trying to claim I packed. I have filed a claim with their insurance company, filed a complaint with the BBB, and am still trying to resolve this matter. My own homeowners policy won't cover this because of my deductible. Don't hire this company unless you have lots of insurance and want your stuff broken.

They arrived late. They did not work efficiently. One sat in the van while two others brought stuff. They took several attempts to pack things correctly in the van. Had to redo often. They couldn't figure out how to get stuff out the door. Should have been second nature. They worked so slowly that it was dark. They didn't have a light in the van. On the way to the house, they stopped for something to eat! It was so late by the time they got to my new place, I had them unpack everything in the garage to save time, except for the heavy stuff. Many items were broken. The washer and dryer were not properly hooked up or the bed put together correctly. I would never recommend them! When I registered a protest, they were not very helpful, especially the woman on the phone.

Showed up on time, early in fact. Had a three man crew, they worked steadily and had the whole job done in 6 hrs. One minor scratch on banister in new home, they admitted to it and advised how to solve. Never followed up, the scratch was really small.

MY OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS FINE. I CAN NOT COMPLAIN. THEY CAME AND DID WHAT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO DO WITH NO DAMAGE OR COMPLAINTS. I DID HAVE THEM RUN ALL OVER TOWN.
