Family Garage Door LLC

We called Family Garage Door to replace our garage door spring. A company named A1 Garage Door arrived. We received somewhat cryptic replies when we questioned the name discrepancy. There are multiple phone numbers out there as well. They answer without identifying company name. All very fishy. We still don't know about Family Garage Door but they do have an online presence??? A1 charges $135 an hour for labor which of course was not disclosed when I asked prior to scheduling. I was only told about a $20 trip charge. Also we were asked to digitally sign prior to doing the work and only upon receiving an email receipt afterwards did we see the lengthy 2 page contract-for the total protection of the company and not the homeowner. The technician worked one hour to replace the spring and barings. We were charged over $800 which we now know is much more than the average cost for such work. Unfortunately, being locked in our garage we were hasty to hire the first company we found and didn’t do enough research first. BUYER BEWARE.

Family garage answered the phone when we called, scheduled a technician to come out within one day. The technician installed everything quickly and correctly while being friendly and courteous.

I called Family Garage Door on a Tuesday morning after my aging garage door opener failed. They sent over a technician by 1 pm that very same day to replace the opener with new garage door opener. I was so impressed by their professionalism, quality, and speed of service. They also quoted me a very fair price on top of their great service. Highly recommended!

On June 30, 2017, our garage door was gently laid to rest when the cable snapped and it fell to the ground at a rather awkward angle. I was on my way out of town, but told my husband I would look at some companies when my flight landed. My husband, bless him, called a company to take a look as soon as he returned home from dropping me at the aurport. They took a look. One single look. I'm sure they're still laughing. Nothing could be done to save this door. They gave him a quote to replace it. Just the door. They don't replace motors. Oh. Ok. For continuity, he kind of wanted to stick with them. But after communication stopped being consistent, I decided to go use the Angie's List subscription I pay for to explore my options. I found Family Garage Door. I found other highly rated companies as well. None of those companies sponsor Special Olympics. I've worked as a nurse with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities for the past 10 years; I'm a little biased. Family Garage Door also has a really nice website, and they made the effort to ensure ther mobile site is easy to read and navigate. These things are important to me, you guys. I can't explain it. Moving on... I entered some contact information and my garage door needs into an online form. About 15 minutes later, someone called me and we made an appointment for a consultation. The guy called when he was about 30 minutes away, which was great. It gave me time to get home from work and make sure the dogs weren't going to charge the door because "omg omg new friend!! Friend!! Everything is exciting!" He took a look at the door, went over my options, and gave me a quote. Their quote was much lower than the other company and - AND - included a new motor. Not just any motor. This one connects to WiFi. I can control it with my phone. The future! The door had to be ordered because why would I want one already in stock? *pfft*. I was told 2 weeks. Two weeks later the door arrived. It was installed the next day. It took like 3 hours. Amazing. Now we have a new, beautiful, insulated, *quiet*, garage door to replace the 15+-year-old, cracked, chipped, obnoxiously loud, full of holes door we had before. I love it! Many many thanks to the guys at Family Garage Door!

Jared was punctual. He also educated me about how things worked with garage door. He told me the problem and offered options. I thought i would have to miss work because I couldn't get my car out. He offered to replace the springs with the type that would allow manual opening in the future (in case a problem occured) I was barely tardy for work.

Mark was prompt and worked efficiently to get our garage door working like new again. Highly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable and reasonably priced contractor to perform service work on your home/garage

The motor was seized and the springs were worn. Mark replace the springs and gave us a fair price. The whole job took a little longer then an hour. Profiecent and professional.
