Upon giving Excalibur a call for a garage door repair, I was quoted a price. After calling around, the price seemed in line with other shops, but Excalibur was the closest to my residence, so I went with them. On the second call, I asked if I could use the coupon they have advertised on their site, and they said no since I was receiving a "Special" price... which wasn't clarified in the original quote. Upon repair, he decided to replace the cables, which it did need, but was something I had planned to do myself. They are a few bucks at the hardware store and take a few minutes to replace. Excalibur charged $65 to put them on. The final price ended up being $100 more than I had expected to pay... and then when it came time for payment, there was a 3% charge for using a credit card... which goes against credit card processing protocol. Overall, the garage door works great, but with all the hiccups in between, I can't really recommend Excalibur.

"Hello, not sure if you remember but when you called me the first time, I told you that we have a "Spring Replacement special" for the month of may. I tell the same thing to ALL my customers. Just like I said over the phone, the coupon on the site can only be used on repairs that are not already on special. I did not charge you to install the cables, I only charged you for the Cables themselves. The cables take alot longer than 2 min to install, even for me doing this for 8 years. It can be VERY DANGEROUS to replace the cables and there are many different things you need to know to properly change the cables, working with the tension on the springs and setting the cables correctly so the door will be balanced and go up correctly. If you make any mistakes you can be Badly injured. I HIGHLY suggest that nobody other than a trained professional work on the cables or springs. As for the 3% fee, it is not a Surcharge, which is illegal in colorado, it is a convenience fee. Please look up the difference. I am a VERY small local sole proprietorship business that ALWAYS tries to have the best price, with unbelievably amazing customer service. Sorry for the misunderstanding. The spring broke on a Sunday morning with both my cars inside the garage. They were the only company that called me back even though many of the companies listed 24/7 emergency service. They were at the house and had the spring replaced within 2 hours of my call. They also replaced all my rollers and did routine maintenance to the door.

The service is absolutely top rate. He also helped get my automatic garage door working again. When I called him up, I explained the situation and he knew exactly what was the problem after I showed him. He gave me the cost to fix the issue and he was very good. The price was very reasonable, and the whole thing went down just like he said. He put a new roller in, adjusted the track, and lubed the doors. He did it all for the price he said and showed up on time. He was very personable.
