We thought they did a timely job and the doors worked well - for a while. But as soon as any problems developed they didn't return calls, didn't want to deal with the work, and come to find out actually installed the doors incorrectly.
Price - was decent and they worked with me to find the right door.
Quality - the door is a good quality but it was installed incorrectly, thus the F
Responsiveness - didn't return phone calls thus the F
Punctuality - again the initial install was fine - but the follow up and lack of response equates to an F
Professionalism - if you can't guarantee your work, improperly install the product you advertise and can't return phone calls you are not a professional. Thus the F.
We had to find another contractor - who is wonderful! - to come do some repair work and he is the one who found a ton of mistakes and correctly fixed the doors so they work much better, are much quieter and less hassle. Doors Done Right did not return my calls when I couldn't get one of the doors to shut. I understand there was a divorce right after our installation and neither member wanted to take responsibility when I had called on some missing paperwork. I will NOT use Doors Done Right. And I will NOT recommend them.

They did a great job and were reasonably priced. I gave them a B on Punctuality because they were orginally scheduled for Friday, but were delayed in getting the parts needed and didn't do the work until Monday. Other than that, they did a great job!

JC sized up the situation and applied the right parts, know-how, and elbow grease to make the whole thing better than it was before the breakdown.

The appointment was for sometime between 11 am and 1 pm. I called about 9 am that morning to confirm the appointment (having read the review of the person who was forgotten) since I had not received a confirmation phone call. JC arrived at 12:30 pm and did a full review of the garage door. He found a couple of items that could be causing the problem and made the necessary adjustments. I also asked to review the maintenance I am supposed to be performing, and we discussed that. I found him to be very professional and knowledgeable. I won't know for certain if the problem is resolved until the weather is cold again, and will post another review or modify this one if the problem persists (if you don't find a follow up review, that means it was fixed right the first time). The only regret I have is that I forgot to ask for the Angie's List discount!

"Hi It's been months since I was able to get online and check out our reviews. I am stretched in a thousand different directions on a daily basis. I will check you invoice and send you a check for the appropriate discount. For everyone else.... Please mention where you found us and just in case the phone rings and I get distracted before I get a chance to either write it on the invoice or tell the tech on the phone, mention it again to the tech. If you don't, then just call me and I will rectify it asap."

We first looked into Doors Done Right months ago, however we were not able to have the job done at that time. I emailed to have a new quote done, and they called to tell me that they would just use the one they had even though the price had gone up a little bit. They came out in less than a week and had the job done! The installation tech was great, he had it done quickly and we have had no problems what so ever with the door. He had it adjusted perfectly and working great before he left. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for a new garage door!

Fixed garage door in record time. Did clever trouble shooting and found some problems other fixit people had missed. I was very impressed with this guy's expertise. Unfortunatedly I can't remember his name but would definately call these people again.

Overall the service experience was excellent. An appointment time that worked for me was available within 48 hours. The repair person was very courteous once he got there (initially went to wrong street address). He quickly diagnosed the problem and applied the necessary adjustments, etc. The pricing policy is a little strange since the second door cost almost as much as the first. I would have expected a lower price for the second door. However, for the overall service delivered the total price was still a good value. I would go with Doors Done Right again.

Contacted Sue at Doors Done Right the morning after or garage door died..Thought I was calling a bit early...NO WAY, she picked up right off and we scheduled the work for latter the same day. Fantastic, seeing that a snow storm was rolling in. JC presented himself right on time, determined that he would need to pick up a different model of spring and he scheduled for first thing Saturday morning...AGAIN, right on time! JC noted that the center support bracket was not mounted securely to a 'stud' and removed and relocated that support as well as tightened all other fittings. He also indicated that the rollers would be best replaced...We opted not to at this time. JC conducted himself professionally at all times.

I originally called doors done right for a repair to my existing door but after inspection, the technician explained that my old door needed replacing. My door had gaps between panels and was really in pretty bad shape. Sue came to my home to show me samples for a colour match to my cedar home. We decided on a chocolate brown which is not a stock colour and had to be ordered in, this custom order took 3 weeks to arrive. Sue called when my door arrived and we scheduled an appointment for install, I requested J.C. to do the work as I was very confident in his expertise. J.C. arrived right on time and immediately got to work disassembling my old door, I was really impressed with his obvious knowledge of his trade, he didn't even mind the million questions I tend to ask. Job was done quickly and professionally. My new garage door is not only aesthetically beautiful but it is also whisper quiet. I have a second garage door that needs replacing and I would not even consider going to another company. Sue even offered me a discount on the second door when I am ready. Wonderful people to work with, don't even hesitate, call Sue now!

I was, at first, a little hesitant to see that one person came to remove the old door and install the new one. This guy was great. He has fifteen years experience and he showed it. He had to move junk out of the garage, prior to installing the new one, and, would you believe it, he put it all back. The door worked flawlessly and I really regret that I did not contact this company long ago.

JC arrived as expected, but unexpectedly, he told me that my opener did NOT need to be replaced. Huh? He explained why I should hold on to it for now (a good model they don't make anymore), and when it finally dies -- if and when it does -- to call them back. I couldn't believe it! He was honest and I didn't pay him a dime. I was prepared to grudgingly spend $700 for two new openers, but happily, am going to spend a few bucks for a few remotes instead. I can not recommend this company more highly; who ever heard of being so honest as to NOT make a sale? !!!

We had "shopped" for the right door for over a year. Sue brought her samples out and was able to perfectly match our stucco because she had access to several companies and there was variation even within the same color name. The price for a superior insulated door was very competitive with others and the order/installation was only 3 days from start to finish. I was concerned when she said the installer worked alone, with no help. How could he lift and balance 16' panels? No problem! The installation was fast and beautifully done. The entire process was great and now we have the most beautiful garage door in the entire area. We highly, highly recommend this company!

She was prompt. She explained things very well and described things well. Her price was a little bit higher than the one I decided on. Her estimate was $2,200, with a senior discount. The only reason I didn't use her is because I liked the quality of a door from a different company. If they had the door I decided on, I probably would've used this company.

"HAVING SUCH A GOOD REPUTATION AS WE DO ON ANGIES LIST, NATURALLY WE WERE DISAPPOINTED THAT WE DIDN'T DO OUR JOB AS WELL AS WE WOULD HAVE LIKED. WE QUOTED FOR 2 DOORS AND 2 OPERATORS FOR ONE OF OUR BEST SELLING DOORS THAT WAS ACTUALLY GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY. AS AN INDEPENDENT DEALER WE HAVE ACCOUNTS WITH THE FOLLOWING MANUFACTURERS. AMARR, CHI, ANKMAR. WAYNE DALTON, NORTHWEST DOOR, WINDSOR DOOR, LIFTMASTER OPERATORS AND MORE. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK FOR ANY PRODUCT THAT YOU ARE INTERESTED IN. WE HATE TO LOSE CUSTOMERS JUST BECAUSE WE DIDN'T SHOW YOU EVERYTHING WE HAVE. WE ALWAYS START OUT WITH THE PRODUCT WE FEEL IS THE VERY BEST VALUE FOR MONEY AND WE CAN GO UP OR DOWN FROM THERE. PLEASE ASK IF YOU NEED SOMETHING SPECIFIC AND WE WILL DEFINITELY TRY TO ACCOMMODATE YOUR NEEDS. WITH OVER 2000 DOOR CHOICES FROM NON INSULATED, TO INSULATED, STEEL, WOOD, OVERLAYS, AND MUCH MORE. BY THE WAY 2009 IS A GREAT YEAR TO PURCHASE A NEW INSULATED DOOR. LOTS OF OUR DOORS MEET THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE GOVERNMENT TAX CREDIT. THIS ENDS AT THE END OF 2009. SO WHETHER IT'S WAYNE DALTON OR AMARR OR SOMETHING ELSE YOU WANT, DON'T FORGET TO ASK SO THAT WE CAN DO A SIDE BY SIDE COMPARISON, WE WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT WE ARE HERE TO EDUCATE YOU SO THAT YOU CAN MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION."

Sue came by the same day I called her. Showed us various samples. Very nice person, easy to discuss options with. Called other companies prior (did my homework) and she was the best to work with overall. I also asked her opinion of other doors from AAMARR and Clopate and she knows the industry very well. They could install the door in about a week. JC the installer showed up at the scheduled time 1-week later. Also very nice and promptly took down our existing door, track and accessories. Installed the new door and tested everything to ensure proper opening and closure. The whole install was done in about 21/2 hours.

I called and they tried to diagnose over the phone. They got me scheduled and when he came out he said I reported that the opener was struck by lightening! I didn't say that. He recommended replacing the controller board. The opener is 12 years old and I asked if I should just replace the whole thing in case it was going to start giving me problems. He wouldn't hear of it and told me the controller was all I needed. He said he would arrange to come back in a "couple of days." I had to call them to ask when he'd be back. I have to take off of work for this so I don't appreciate just being left hanging and assuming I'll be home whenever. He did the install and everything worked fine. I have another door company's sticker on my garage wall; it has dates that I replace springs and rollers. He doors done right guy put his sticker right over that one and when I peeled it off I can't read the dates for the other company (which is warranty). I think that was very unprofessional of Doors Done Right. There is plenty of wall space to put their sticker somewhere else if they have to!
Response from DOORS DONE RIGHT
"WHILST WE UNDERSTAND YOUR FRUSTRATION THAT WE TOOK THE STICKER DOWN, WE CAN ONLY APOLOGIZE FOR OUR MISTAKE. IT IS COMMON PRACTICE IN THE GARAGE DOOR INDUSTRY TO PUT OUR OWN STICKER UP. WE HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM IN 10 YEARS OF DOING BUSINESS. IN MOST CASES THERE IS NOTHING WRITTEN ON THE STICKER AND PEOPLE RELY ON US TO FIND THEM IS OUR DATABASE, AND MOST REPUTABLE COMPANIES SHOULD BE ABLE TO TELL YOU WHEN THEY LAST WORKED AND WHAT THEY DID ON YOUR DOOR OR OPENER. SORRY ONCE AGAIN. SUE"

I called and got a live person--Sue--immediately. She sent someone out that afternoon, he measured the door, and that was that. I liked how prompt this company was to respond and that I didn't have to leave a message and wait for a call back. Their price was the same as the other company I spoke with, but they were less impersonal. Also, they had a garage door in stock and could have installed it very quickly, but I wanted a different one that they had to order which is why the work wasn't done immediately.

Sue came within 20 min of calling her for a quote. She did not go into detail of things I did not need although I would have liked to hear more about the automatic garage door opener even though I was not in the market of getting that with my door. She was very professional and we set up a time to have the door installed that week. Sue said that her husband was the only installer at this time. When he showed up I did not know his name nor did he mention it, he was a little standoffish and at first I thought he was kind of rude. I was able to ask a few questions from him, which brought him out of his shell a little bit but it seemed as though he was here to do a job and that was it. Which I do appreciate if you want the job done right! So all and all both work very hard I have no complaints and would hire again if necessary.

The spring on the garage door broke. It seemed sudden, but they were, in fact, 10 years old. I consulted Angie's List and chose Doors Done Right based on their stellar rating. I was not disappointed, except for a slight glitch. I called on Wednesday ( the day the spring broke), after 6PM and was pleasantly surprised that someone answered the phone and was able to set me up with a service call for Friday afternoon. Friday morning I received a call that the service call needed to be changed. I was disappointed, but the appointment was moved to the next day at a time convenient for me. That's great customer service. The service person arrived during the time window and was done in less than 30 minutes. The price tuned out to be more than I was quoted on the phone because my door was taller than average. That might be a good question to ask customers when they call. I was asked whether I had a one piece door or a sectioned door, but I wasn't asked about the height. So I was a little taken aback when I was informed that the price would be $44 more. But the speed with which the work was done, and the warranty from the company made the added cost worth it.
Response from DOORS DONE RIGHT
"THANKS FOR UNDERSTANDING THAT SOMETIMES WE DO HAVE SCHEDULING ISSUES, MOSTLY INITIATED BY CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE HAD TO CHANGE THEIR SCHEDULE, LEAVING US TO PICK UP THE PIECES AND FIND A WAY TO ACCOMMODATE EVERYONE. ALL MY QUOTES ARE BASED ON STANDARD GARAGE DOOR SIZES AND TYPES. I AM UNABLE TO QUOTE FOR EVERY SIZE OR FOR CUSTOM WOOD DOORS OVER THE PHONE SIMPLY BECAUSE THERE ARE TOO MANY. WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE MISUNDERSTANDING."
