CLOSETS BY DESIGN

We had cabinets and built-in desks installed by this company in our office. The laminate countertop was installed with a scratch and was 2 inches short on one side. They fixed it by using a Sharpie on the scratch and creating a 2" laminate filler. It looks ok, but not what we expected given the price we paid. After installation, we asked to have one small enhancement made. The salesperson said no problem and quoted us $300. We agreed. A week later they came back and said they cannot do the change for $300 - it would cost a lot more. I've never seen a company quote a price in writing and then decide they can't do it for that price. Would not recommend this company.

OK. While we are not disappointed with the overall quality of the build, there were at least 5 mistakes made along the way, including: misinterpreting design plans for the kitchen pantry, completely sending the wrong layout for 1 of the kids closets, multiple pieces of broken materials that were installed, and then had to be replaced, failing to do simple finishing work (like glueing baseboard trim) all of which required separate appointments to be remediated. Fortunately Closets by Design was a good partner, and they came back and fixed everything that we asked, but the number of service calls that it took, as well as the number of calls and negotiations that my wife had to have with them in order to get things done, was an enormous time drain. Fortunately she was not working at the time, so she had more flexibility in her schedule, but had she been working each of these installs and follow up appointments would have required at least 8 days off work, or working from home, to accommodate. That said, their price was significantly less than their competitors and overall we are satisfied with the end result (with a few exceptions).

Very well but the installer's partner called in sick so he was alone...it was tough on him but he kept at it hard. Left at 2:30 and still had two installations to go. Very nice young man!

Overall the experience was good. The sales rep was friendly and responsive and I'm happy with the end result. The wardrobes look good and I've doubled my storage. One of the two installers seemed very experienced. There were some miscommunications in the order that caused a bit of conflict. They were willing to make the change, but that would have taken more time and I decided to not delay the project. I was also not happy about the post install cleaning job. I requested a return visit and was told they would put it on the schedule. However, I was not contacted again. Those are the main reasons for the B rating.

I obtained three quotes and Closets By Design was the lowest. Michelle was an excellent designer. She was very responsive to my thoughts and tastes. She also communicated well after the deal was signed. The builders were professional and did a great job with the installation. This is really a no-brainer for me. I would definitely recommend them to anyone. Great job!

Because I'm new to the Denver area, I relied on Angie's List to locate many of the services I need to renovate my newly-purchased townhouse. Hence, my relationship with Closets by Design and Janene, one of their designers. She met with me in early July to design the closet in the master bedroom. After the closet was installed so perfectly by Dan and Alum in August, I met with Janene again for her to design the closet in the 2nd bedroom and a large cabinet in the laundry room. Again Dan, this time with Corey, did the installation. Again, all was smooth and correct and came out beautifully.

Besides having a great personality, Janene has an in-depth knowledge of the product line and the ability to personalize the design to mirror the customer's needs. In other words, she was spot on with her questions to me about my wishes, then matched it with closets and a cabinet that were all perfect.

Most people don't think much about their closet - unless they have to struggle with it daily. Ours contained a basic rod and a shelf above. Because of Janene and Closets by Design, I no longer think about my closets. Thanks to them, now I only love them!

They did a good job and we're using them again. They have a fair price and they do a good job and they guarantee their work. We would use them again.

Carole Feldman, our consultant, worked with me to design a closet for the master bedroom and one in the office area of our new home. She was wonderful and shared great creative ideas that will provide us with beautiful, functional, high-quality storage.















Carol really went out of her way to hear everything I wanted that she incorporated into closets that will be 100% awesome. She spent a lot of time on the project and as soon as we settle on the house we will go forward with it.







 







Built-in's are expensive, but the quote was better than I thought it would be. We are so grateful for her hard work, creativity and design experience. She is a gem!

unbelievable.  not the cheapest (I got 2 other quotes) but by far the best design...and the quality of the materials and the expertise of installers are really incredible.  their designer, Michele, put together a great couple of closets that far exceed what I expected and then got me into the schedule quicker (and these guys are busy....because they are good).
I would highly recommend.  the results are incredible.  and these are made in Colorado closets!!

It was positive.  They would come when they came and they did the work and they cleaned up after themselves and then they left.  It was very good.  I would absolutely recommend that people who don't want to spend almost $1,000 more for me you get a discount, I guess depending upon the cost of your closet.  My discount was $500 with California closets, but Closets by design and it was a good deal.  The price was $600 less than California closets and I was already getting a discount with California closets.

The workers were very nice, professinal, and fast.  They covered the job with me before beginning, re-measured the area before installing and it took them about 3 hours to complete the work and it looked great!  I was very pleased.

Very easy process. Kelly did my consult and was knowledgeable. She is used to those trying to do it on a budget so will assume you want all of the least expensive options, if you want to go with the extras or upgrades, don't be afraid to ask. She is very nice and helpful.
The install went in without any issues, exactly as I was expecting. The great thing is that there are so many ways to adjust the shelves and racks so once the basic structure is in, you can customize it to the heights and configurations that you want.

Installation was quick and no damages done to freshly painted walls or new floors.

If you just have wire shelving in your closets now, I would definitely recommend getting a makeover for at least one closet in your home. While we were in the midst of building a new home, I realized that the builder only puts in cheap wire shelving in all the closets and I would not only lose precious storage space but the wire shelves would most likely start to sag and fall apart. I called a few closet companies and Closets By Design gave me a better deal than 2 other companies...plus the gal (Kelly) was amazing with her drawings on the spot. She was very friendly and gave great customer service! They did the job in 2 days (before we moved in as scheduled) and did a fantastic job! Quality and workmanship was superb! We noticed that the ironing board in our master closet didn't swing out correctly, so they put in the correct one within that same week. I would definitely use them again!

Overall, it was a great experience. Our designer was prompt, friendly and knowledgeable. She created a great design for our closet on the first try. I would have liked it if they could have installed the system more quickly - it took over 2 weeks. The installer was prompt, professional and knowledgeable. I would absolutely recommend Closets by Design, but I would warn to get everything in writing. The sales woman said they would fit the system around our moldings. The installer said they never do it that way, and he wasn't sure why she told us that. We checked the contract and it says they will remove the moldings and replace just the portions that show/between the installed pieces. Unfortunately, my moldings are 4" tall, so the damaged dry wall is visible. So, after waiting over 2 weeks, I had to wait another day to get my clothes in my new closet while I sanded, taped and painted.

The installers were very professional. Due to how shelving that was installed, some paint was chipped in the corners. I called Lena to tell her that and she said, what do you want me to do about it? I told her I wanted her to make it right. The installers were very nice, got a paint brush and touched up the areas they had chipped. Lena never reviewed the final product.

The design good until the installers arrived. When they arrived they did not realize we had a big mudsill and could not install the method they had planned. The designer should have been aware of this. They ended up having to jury rig something up using two by fours with a platform underneath. The cabinets were otherwise completed as promised and nice. They at first mounted the workbench way too high to get above the mudsill, but did remount lower down to be usable, although had a different set up because of the mudsill. Two weeks ago the workbench unit fell off the wall . To their credit, they came out immediately and replaced the broken pieces and remounted the unit on the wall with the steel slat method which they have promised should be stronger. They were apologetic and said it was not mounted correctly in the first place. I would not use the same designer again, as she seemed to not convey information properly to the installers, and would be wary of installation next time, making sure they use the strong method. Otherwise we have had good service and it appears to be quality.

This experience was good. The representative told me that there may have to be some shoring up the backs of things because of the age of the house. The workers were great and cleaned up very well. I got a blue print of the design, but not a print of how it would look from the front. I received a discount from the advertisement in a flyer.

From beginning to end our experience with them was excellent. It was amazing how much extra space and storage we gained by the designs. We chose the laminate product and are very pleased with it. When we placed the order, we were told it would take about 3 weeks to do the install. However, after asking them to contact me if they had a cancellation, our closets were installed within one week. The two young men who installed our closets were very courteous, professional, and neat. They removed all old closet shelves and rods and took them away. In our master closet, we chose backing to give it a more finished, professional, designer look. We were happy with that choice. There was no clean up on our part. Since all three quotes were within a few dollars, I really don't know what to say about price. It seemed a bit expensive, however, we did not want wire shelves, so since our job was a designer project, I guess the goods and services we received was in price range for the Denver area. Further, we know that we have added value to our home.

We first met with a designer who looked at the closet space, talked to us about what we wanted/needed in our closets and then created a drawing layout of possibilities. Once decided upon, the work crew showed up and in two days, had the closets completely installed. They did a very good job.

THE CLOSETS IN MY HOUSE ARE RELATIVELY SMALL. THE STORAGE UNITS DESIGNED GAVE US MORE STORAGE SPACE FOR NOT ONLY CLOTHES BUT ALSO SHELVES. THEY ALSO HAD AREAS DESIGNED FOR SHOES.
