Bear Brothers Roofing

Absolutely terrible company. First, Greg of Bear Brothers hires out labor from subcontractors. I speak Spanish and found that the crews they subcontract with only speak Spanish. Good luck if you don’t speak Spanish. Second, when you deal with Bear Brothers you may get an unprofessional inspection and bid before the job, unprofessional work during the job, and finally, an absolutely inadequate fix on a job they did poorly from the beginning. When they first “repaired” my roof they put huge holes in my roof. Nine holes in total. After I received this horrible service, I called a second opinion and found out that the company was supposed to check the roof for “space decking”. They never did. Space decking is the term for beams in the roof being more than 1/2 inch apart. Older homes have 1x6 beams across the roof and not plywood (this is stronger). My roof qualifies as a roof with space decking and they are supposed to put plywood down and preauthorize my insurance for the cost. (Insurance companies often cover the cost.) However, they didn’t. When they put the nails in my roof without the plywood, they caused the beams in my roof to split with chunks of the beams falling out, causing holes. When they came to repair this problem they cut holes in the black water proofing material in order to replace the beams with holes. They never replaced the cracked beams. And, they never added the plywood. The reason they need to add the plywood is so that the nails go into wood and not into the empty space between beams. The nails in my roof could fall through the roof under the weight of snow and fall into my garage which could later cause me flat tires as I pull in. When I called to complain, Bear Brothers asked me how long I plan to live in my house and implied I could sell the house and pass this problem on to someone else. The supervisor for the job, Joe (Jose), can speak English but prefers Spanish was fooling around in my yard with a girlfriend rather than watch his staff repair my roof. For the original job he was said to be sleeping and not present (reported by his staff). I have pictures for this “work”.
