Roofing, Gutter Repair and Replacement
I hired Bear Brothers to replace the roof on my home over 6 years ago- the work was never completed properly and the incorrectly installed gutters resulted in water damage to the interior of my home. Attempts to correct the issues failed, despite repeated promises to resolve the outstanding issues. I'm now being forced to pursue legal action to remedy the situation- a massive waste of time and money for what should have been a very simple roofing job. I would strongly suggest giving your business to a legitimate roofing business- NOT Bear Brothers.

Roofing
AS I mentioned earlier, Chad was awesome - punctual, responsive, explained the difference between the shingles, contacted me to arrange meetings to choose shingles, etc.
I was out of town for awhile at the end of October, and was more or less scheduled to get the roof replaced in November. When I called Bear Brothers, I was told Chad was no longer in charge of my job, and I was speaking with Gary, the owner instead. The job was supposedly delayed due to the storms in late October.
He wanted me to change the shingles to one from a Colorado company, finally made it over with the samples. I was not as happy with the color selection, but he 'sold' me on this other shingle. I left a message with the color choice, and did not hear back for several days, had to call again to get a hold of Gary who said he never got the message, but had placed the order.
Again, we had another cold snap and winter weather, so it was delayed. A crew came by unannounced one random day and put the shingles up on the roof in the middle of a snowstorm, where they sat for nearly 2 more weeks. Since I had initially called the roofer because of water damage, and the snow melt was making that worse, I contacted Gary again to find out when the roof would get done. He said he would send a guy over to clean off the roof so the snow would no longer melt and cause further damage.
The next day I was woken to the sounds of a crew ripping off my roof. I had planned an open house for my business that day and was not able to be home at all during the installation. When I got home that night it was dark and I couldn't tell how the roof looked. The following morning the crew was pounding away at well before 8am, and as I left for work, noticed they were stacking over 10 boxes of unused shingles.
When I got home from work, the crew was gone and I was able to check out my new roof - and first glance I thought it looked pretty bad. The more I examined it, the worse it got. The siding is damaged from where they wedged uneven dented, bits and pieces of bare metal flashing. The overall appearance of the roof is even more lumpy and uneven than the damaged roof.
The skylights were supposed to be re-installed UNDER the shingles, and are nailed down on top of the shingles, with more the the bare metal bits and pieces flashing installed along the sides. Furthermore, the remaining flashing is a dark brown, which does match either the existing gutters, house color or new shingles, and looks as though it was pieced together from scraps. There are several places where the soffits and existing siding is damaged, the 'new' flashing looks warped and is not set neatly up to the edge, and the lip of the shingles hangs over the edge of the roof so that you can read the writing on the back side, and there is no flashing installed at all.
In short it looks TERRIBLE, and I have no confidence that it will function any better than it looks. I almost immediately called the company and asked to speak to Gary who is out of town. They will be sending someone from the company tomorrow to look over the work. I have also contacted the insurance contact person. In short, the job seemed to be going well while Chad was at the helm, but once Gary took over, it has gone downhill completely to the point I am literally embarrassed about my 'new roof'.
