Alex was by far the cheapest contractor we have ever used. His quality and responsiveness however are terrible. One perfect example ( many similar situations ):Less than one year after the remodel was complete, the new ceiling fan fell out of the ceiling. Luckily no one was hurt. Upon inspection, the ceiling fan was installed into an existing plastic elec ceiling box not even close to rated for the weight of a fan.No matter how many multiple calls were placed to him to repair the obvious construction defect still under 1 yr warranty, it was not completed. We needed to pay another contractor to fix it and many other electrical issues.I would use Alex again for simple remodeling items like demo, drywall, painting, etc ONLY because he is so cheap and these items are easily and cheaply fixed. DO NOT use for any plumbing, mechanical or structural, as you will most likely be repairing at your expense.

When people talk about the nightmare of a remodel, now I know why.  Alex quoted our job as a 8-10 week process, and we are past four months with many things left to do.  His crew is nice, but they are not skilled laborers, and much of the work they do (plumbing, carpentry, installations, paint) has to be redone.  Alex has agreed with the fact that much of the work is not up to standards.  At this point, the only things that we are happy with are the things that we outsourced/purchased on our own.
Alex has skipped just as many days as he has worked on the project, and repeatedly lied about using our money to purchase items in the quote.  Finally when asked to produce the things he claimed to have bought, he was unable to do so.  Basically, he lived the high life off our first two draw payments, and then came asking for more money to actually put the money into the finishes for the home.
We selected a General Contractor because my wife and I both work, and we were looking to have someone take the lead on the project.  Alex has been non-communicative, and unresponsive.  He is never on time, and routinely sends workers without a list of things to complete.  It is also hard to direct them yourself unless you are bilingual.
His crew is very nice, and I think he means well.  However, he did not follow through on his commitments.  We are two months past the end date, and we still do not have a master bath, stair railings, or finished exterior window casings.  This is not punch list/picky items...there are multiple outlets and switches that are still not functional.
I would not suggest you use Alex for any job over 1 day, as he seems to be unable to manage the flow of a project.  I would also never give him a dime for materials.  He will not spend it on is agreed on, and you could be left without anything to show for your money.

Alex took a 6000.00  dollar deposit approximately October 10th 2012
installed the exterior siding had framing material delivered.  and waited until december 28th to do any more work then needed a 2nd draw of 3 total  to continue.
He took a 2nd draw and left for Puerto Rico on dec 30th for new years.
After repeated begging for answers and resolution I hired an attorney and  learned he never aquired the permit that he charged for in the contract.
Next I contacted the subs from the job and pressed them for completion . After discussing resolution with Alexs subs I have completed the job my self  and am pursuing legal action against him and his company and his sub contractors.
Al;ex uses other sub contractors to pull permits and then does the work him self. ILEGAL!
damages and expenses ectera expected to be in excess of 40,000.00 dollars
then expect to pursue collections and asset recovery and involuntary bankruptcy proceeding!
look for update

Alex not only failed to show for an estimate (new shower install) on 9/5/07 but did not bother to call. I left work early to meet him at my home. Very disappointed!

I contacted Alex's to come out and give me a bid on a construction project. After not seeing him 30 minutes after he was supposed to be there, I called him and he told me that he would be at the house in 20 minutes. I waited at the house for another hour and a half and he never showed up. To make it worse, he turned off his cell phone so I could not contact him.

Alex and his crew were great. Did a wonderful job. Very enjoyable to work with. Punctual, very reasonably priced, friendly, trustworthy. Had lots of good design ideas. Was very pleased with the experience. I would highly recommend this company.
