AS I WROTE, I WOULD HAVE HIRED THEM ON THE SPOT HAD CIRCUMSTANCES BEEN DIFFERENT.
Description of Work: I REQUESTED INFORMATION ON MY SUNROOM ROOF WHICH HAS BEEN LEAKING. THIS COMPANY RESPONDED IMMEDIATELY AND ON TIME. THEY EXPLAINED THEIR PROGRAM THOROUGHLY AND CLEARLY. THEY HAD SAMPLES FOR ME TO SEE. I WAS SO IMPRESSED. THEY WERE VERY KNOWLEDGABLE AND PROFESSIONAL. UNFORTUNATELY INSURANCE WOULD NOT PAY FOR MY ROOF, OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE HIRED THEM ON THE SPOT. ALSO, I HAVE A REVERSE MORTAGE AND MY HOME WILL REVERT BACK TO THE BANK AND SO I DID NOT WANT TO PAY THE AMOUNT REQUIRED. (I AM 78 AND MY HUSBAND IS 89).

Advanced Exteriors appeared when we requested them last year after hail damage. They gave us a ton of good paperwork on the materials, financing, etc. on their work. They worked with the insurance company, inspected with insurance, took care of all details of the work necessary and then some. Andrew and Andrew were really good people to deal with, and believe me they had our entire neighborhood with their signs out front within a month of the hail storm. The roofers were good in the sense their were few nails if any, and they cleaned up everything very well. We have since then paid them in full. However, here is one issue. They broke our attic fan over the garage when they did the work, we informed of this within a week of it happening, cause you can see the fan going and it had a thermostat that turned it on and off. They replaced it with a used fan. Now, I would hate to ruin all of their good work on this one issue, but several rooms in our 2nd floor get hot during the summer without the fan. They hired a guy to come out to fix it, and it is still not fixed. So it was really good, and now kind of bad, since we don't seem to be able to get them to fix the fan over garage. I will now probably have to go on Angie's List and find someone to fix or replace this fan. This is in response to Advanced Exteriors response. Here is the situation, clear and simple. Our garage attic fan worked, turned on when needed and turned off when not needed before the roof work was done. We noticed it stopped working within a week of the work completed, so we contacted you regarding this, and supplied a fan to replace the one that was now not working. This fan has never stayed on in 90+ temperatures. The issue turned out that the thermostat was set at 110 degrees, reset it to 95, and we will see if that fixes it.
We appreciate all of the positive feedback on your experience with our company. It seems that there was a minor miscommunication regarding the attic fan repair that we are happy to address with you. Our Project Manager and Quality Control Coordinator have both been leaving messages for you today and in prior weeks to attempt scheduling a repair date; as soon as we can confirm a date/time we can proceed with completing the job. We appreciate your business and look forward to hearing from you!

The "Project Managers" that came to my home did a fantastic job communicating to me the whole process of the job. They were on time and very professional. I acquired other estimates and Advanced Exteriors ability to settle my insurance claim from the recent storm damage was a headache I did not need to have. I personally spoke with the owner, Ty, and had the privilege to meet him. For an owner of a company to take time out of their day to speak with a costumer means a lot to me. The work that they performed was second to none. I have and will continue to recommend Advanced Exteriors to my friends, family, and neighbors. I am going to call them to get free solar for my home as well.
Description of Work: They installed my roof, new windows, siding and paint, and I paid for upgraded insulation. They took extra care to protect my driveway and deck. Swept my yard to retrieve all the nails that came from the roof. Got Milgard windows installed that look beautiful after the roof was installed. New gutters that will actually do their job! Then new siding on two sides of my home.

Advanced Exteriors specializes in negotiating their required price from insurance companies and ensuring everyone (homeowner, insurance company and Advanced Exteriors) is on the same page and agreement before work begins. They often will give an advertising bonus that conveniently equals the deductible for allowing them to put a sign in your yard. The sales staff is pro, the installation was right on time and done quickly and professionally, and the warantee is top notch.

I called them for a second estimate as we thought we were going to need to cover the cost ourselves. We've always had a lot of wind damage, but had consistently been told it was not enough to warrant an insurance claim. However Andrew and Andrew explained to me that because my shingles could not be matched I was in line for a new roof covered by insurance. I had the agent come out and do the inspection with the roofers and that turned out to be the case. So we ended up paying nothing after another estimate of $9000. Also we were installing a new whole house fan and I wanted the roofers to install the ventilation upgrades necessary for that AND add two new vents for bathroom fans (to be installed by me). Advanced exteriors was not only willing to do the work but also worked with me for a more attractive end result, using ridge venting rather then whirly birds or other large vents. The end result is beautiful. My only problem came in that since the work was different than the usual and I was out of town when they did the roof it did not get done to the specs properly. I had to have them come back to install the additional ridge venting and move one of the new bathroom vents. That ended up taking another two weeks to get completed, just because of communication issues on their side. Andrew and Andrew were great to work with and were very responsive to my calls and I would definitely recommend this company for roofing.

Blake and JJ came out to our home, completed a full inspection and walked me through the recommended repairs (full roof replacement) as well as their qualifications. I have to say I was impressed with their walk-through of the repairs needed and their recommendations. They certainly seemed to be competent and qualified for the job. The concerns, however, started for me when we got to the estimate for repairs. Or should I say the "non-estimate." After a thorough walk-through of all they would do in completing the roof replacement, the estimate for repairs was (and I quote) "Insurance Claim Amount Plus Supplements." No dollar amount for the repair was assigned to their needed repairs, just "Insurance Claim Amount Plus Supplements." This was followed by discussion of signing whatever insurance claim check we received from our insurance company over to Advance Exteriors. Frankly, as an informed consumer I wanted an itemized estimate for the repairs. We'd deal with the insurance claim and payments later. That said, I wasn't sure if this was standard practice or not. I did subsequently have 6 other roofing companies out to inspect the roof all of which provided itemized estimates with no discussion of signing insurance checks over to them. I subsequently did request an itemized estimate from JJ (via email) and Blake (via voicemail) as I did want to consider them for the job. Have never heard from either of them again. Update 10/2/2012 Soon after I posted this review, I was contacted by Advanced Exteriors. They apologized for any confusion and essentially shared the same information with me as reflected in the response below. I again requested an itemized quote (as I had received from several other roofing contractors). I was told that they would have to go back out to the house to secure more information to provide an itemized quote. They did go back out to the house. I was also asked if I could update my review. Unfortunately, I never received the itemized quote from Advanced Exteriors so I dropped them from consideration. I subsequently used another company who did a fantastic job. Updating the review now to close the loop.

We appreciate the feedback given in regards to our Project Manager's performance when requested to provide a roof inspection and free estimate. Every comment provided is an opportunity for our organization to improve. It is our goal to provide excellent customer service to every customer and potential client. It is standard practice for property and casualty insurance claims to be depreciated (funds partially withheld until incurred with work completion). Most homeowner's insurance policies are written this way and are called Replacement Cost Value (RCV) policies. Many of our customers have suffered storm damage to their property and filed a related claim with their insurer. Advanced Exteriors, Inc. does provide an itemized estimate including a complete breakdown of costs (using industry standard software also implemented by most insurance carriers) for the insurance carrier to release all depreciation and approved supplements (requests for additional payment based on discrepancies in scope) to their insured upon completion of work by Advanced Exteriors, Inc. It is our experience that our customers prefer an assurance that there will be no need to pay for their restoration work with any of their personal funds (other than their chosen deductible) unless our customers choose to pay extra for special upgrades in materials or additional scope of work. If depreciated amounts are not incurred as part of work completion and properly invoiced for by a contractor, these funds are subject to retention by the insurance carrier (only payable if related work is completed). If a set dollar amount is agreed to by a homeowner when contracting a repair company, the customer is obligated to pay that amount to the contractor regardless of the outcome of their insurance claim. Our company's agreement with our customers offers a guarantee of "Insurance Claim Amount Plus Supplements" to ensure that our customers only are required to pay for their restoration work with insurance proceeds and their chosen deductible, with no money "out of pocket" needed by Advanced Exteriors, Inc. to perform all storm-related repair work. This is especially valuable to our customers whose insurance claim settlement has been initially undervalued by their carrier. Advanced Exteriors, Inc. does not want our customers to be burdened with financing the cost of storm restoration (a covered loss under the property and casualty policy) with any personal funds other than their deductible; if a claim is undervalued we will pursue the insurance carrier to provide their insured (our customer) with proper compensation for their loss (rather than expecting our customer to pay the difference themselves). Our business methods are common practice in our industry, both in Colorado and nationwide (particularly in markets like ours where hailstorms are commonplace). One reason that our company has a policy of complete disclosure during our estimate review/presentation process is due to the complexity of storm restoration work and related insurance claim settlement processes. We have found it necessary to dedicate substantial time with all of our potential customers to review all components of this process before commencing with insurance claim valuation settlement and restoration work. We encourage all of our potential customers to allocate sufficient time to have all questions thoroughly answered and all project components reviewed before moving forward with repairs related to any home remodeling project, especially those that involve an insurance claim. Our Project Managers are available to provide education and service for such projects and are supported by our office to provide account management services for the duration of every project.

Unprofessional with questionable insurance claim tactics.
Description of Work: We requested a proposal from AE for a roofing inspection, replacement and repair. They assisted with the insurance claim investigation but the claim was rejected. They became very pushy with additional negotiation with our insurance company. In addition, they solicited throughout our neighborhood and would contact us if they were not getting a response from our adjacent neighbors. Even though they performed no work for us, we feel that they were unprofessional in their approach and tactics.

We appreciate the feedback given in regards to our Project Manager's performance when requested to provide a roof inspection and free estimate. Every comment provided is an opportunity for our organization to improve. It is our goal to provide excellent customer service to every customer and potential client. Advanced Exteriors, Inc. does not intend for pursuit of insurance claim proceeds for our customers to become an unpleasant experience for our customers. It is an unfortunate realty that some homeowners are unfairly denied or undervalued by their property and casualty insurer. Advanced Exteriors, Inc. will fight for the benefit of our customers in these circumstances and is often successful at pursuing the release of additional claim proceeds to our customers from their insurance carriers. It has been our experience that in such circumstances insurance carriers sometimes contact their insured and provide negative feedback on the contractor or their estimate in an attempt to close the claim without providing proper compensation. At this point a homeowner must choose to accept the position of their insurance carrier or review the evidence provided by other parties (including their contractor) and pursue alternative settlement action (including a re-inpsection of the property with a second insurance adjuster, appraisal process, etc.). Advanced Exteriors, Inc. will support our customer throughout these processes if we believe a claim is justified and we are requested to do so by our customer. We never want to force our customer to engage in such processes and will only proceed with express consent from our customer. It is standard practice for property and casualty insurance claims to be depreciated (funds partially withheld until incurred with work completion). Most homeowner's insurance policies are written this way and are called Replacement Cost Value (RCV) policies. I called Advanced Exteriors to give me a bid for installing some attic vents and attic insulation. The estimator, Brendan, refused to give me a bid for the attic vents because he said the roof as a whole would not meet code (it's an old house with an old roof) and therefore he could not warranty the work. I've gotten bids for the attic vents from two other companies. Whatever. On the attic insulation, I was promised a bid within a couple days. After having not received a bid for three weeks, I called for an update. Brendan finally got me a bid of $1900 to insulate 680 sf of attic space from R-10 to R-60. Not understanding how attic insulation could cost about the same per sf as hardwood flooring, I followed up. Brendan offered me a $100 discount. I instead had Arvada Insulation do the work for $680, about 1/3 of Advanced Exterior's bid. Granted, Arvada Insulation insulated to R-50 instead of R-60, but this still doesn't explain the huge price difference. My only explanation is that perhaps Brendan just forgot about bidding the work and lost his measurements after three weeks, then picked a number out of the air. Who knows? Anyway, I would recommend Arvada Insulation instead for attic insulation. Advanced Exteriors is overpriced and not punctual.

Thank you so much for providing feedback from your experience; even though you never became a customer of ours it is very important to us to see areas that we can improve our estimating and marketing efforts. We are not able to warranty work performed by others (roofing) and would not want to perform any repair that could pose any form of risk to you and your property. Thank you for your time and interest in improving our company and our processes.

I discussed the new roof over the phone with him and explained to him what my insurance company told me about the replacement. He pointed out the Big Deal doesn't give them any flexibility to work with insurance at all, so using the Big Deal would end up costing me more money. We recently had a hail storm that damaged some roofs in town. A roofer said ours had hail damage and needed a complete new roof including the plywood, which he assured us would be covered by our homeowners insurance. I was skeptical and sought a second opinion. The catch was that I needed the second opinion today and it was already after 5:00 p.m. I called Advanced Exteriors which I found on Angie's List and Blake came out to look at our roof within an hour of my call. He had me come up on the roof with him as he inspected it. He said this is the kind of job roofers want because the city code requires that any re-roofing for houses like ours must be a whole new roof from the rafters up- about a $10,000 job. But he said there was almost no hail damage to our roof and he did not think the homeowners insurance would approve any payment. He said our roof appears to still have 5 years of good wear left in it. His visit provided the information I needed on a tight time deadline and there was no charge at all for his visit. So of course I took his business card in case I may need windows or roofing in the future.

I was impressed by the company and would recommend them. I did not end up going with this company only because I chose a roofing material different than what they offer. On the morning that I contacted the company, Eli called me back within 2 hours and was able to come to my house the next day. He was very professional and explained things very thoroughly. He also offered to be here when the insurance adjuster came the following week. Eli was great about answering all of my questions and showing me samples of the materials.
