+ 1 moreI contacted Robert Krause in July of 2015. After receiving estimates, we awarded the jobs via email and phone. Then they disappeared...no reply. After 10 phone calls to them and and several emails, he finally replied by picking up his phone. This took about a month. His excuse was "I called those guys and I thought they had contacted you." Several more unanswered calls and emails later with no reply, I sent an email telling him I would review him on Angies List. That was 9/27/15, well over two months after receiving his bid. I realize I am remiss in not writing this sooner, hopefully helping someone else avoid the frustration. After the initial visit, their conduct was completely unprofessional and unethical. The total bid was about $3000

+ 0 moreI thought I had completed this review, and when I signed on today, I realized I had not. Regardless, it was perfect. First, I appreciated that Kyle was respectful, and did not talk down to me. As a woman, this happens more often than not. He presented my options and quoted me the same price throughout the the process. There were, of course, insurance details. Kyle met with the adjuster, took photos alongside, and gave options if the claim was not accepted. The planning went smoothly, and when the wrong vents were delivered, Kyle cleared that up immediately. Everything went according to plan, from planning, delivery, and roof installment. One day on the roof and everyone was done. A snow storm caused a delay, but that did not hold up Kyle's team. I hope that I will not need a roof for a long time, but if I do, I know exactly where I will turn-Advanced Exteriors will be my go to! Thank you for making the process smooth and relatively painless.

+ 0 moreI decided to use Advanced Exteriors to replace the roofing and gutters on my patio roof. I choose Advanced Exteriors over other roofers based on Angie's List reviews and the warranties (both materials and labor). The quality of work appears to be very good. I'm happy with that work. I am disappointed with the sales and office staff. The roof work was performed on June 15, the siding was not completed for almost a week later. The siding specialist came and left after a few minutes and then never came back. When the bill came I told them I wouldn't pay until work is complete and the siding and gutter work is not yet complete. A few days later the siding was completed. Unfortunately as of July 5 the gutter work is still not done. Apparently the sales guy didn't put my house on the gutter schedule and I am on hold for now. Communication was poor. I never knew when or if someone would come by. Or when I was told someone would come by they were either early or late. But the invoice sure comes with regularity. :-)

+ 1 moreVery responsive initially. Wrote up a detailed estimate and worked with insurance company to add a few things to their original settlement. Agreed after settlement finalized to cancel one window replacement and use the money on a few other fixes instead. Long story short- damage was in October 2014, and here in June 2016 they finally finished. The long version is that the roof replacement was done fairly promptly, about 4 months after initial contact- although I was planning to install solar panels and tried to get them to work with the solar company to coordinate the work, so as to avoid the solar folks punching holes in my brand new roof. Unsuccessful. But getting them to finish the other work has been like pulling teeth. Unreturned calls and emails, and when the workers do show up, often they do the job poorly or incompletely. The painter came out and was supposed to sand and paint the deck railings, which had large gouges from the hail, and to paint the spindles. Instead he painted the railings without sanding- leaving the deep gouges- and didn't paint the spindles at all, which looked like they had been sandblasted from the hail. After literally a year of nagging, they finally sent a painter out to do the spindles, but refused to sand and repaint the railings. We had one broken window and another with damaged vinyl. We agreed to replace only one window, and repair the vinyl on the other, then use that money to replace some gutters. The gutters finally got done in Feb 2016 (16 months later) and the one window's vinyl was finally fixed this month- 20 months after the storm. I honestly can't believe that it took over 20 months and dozens of emails and calls to get the work finished.
Description of Work: Contracted for massive hail damage to house. Needed to replace roof, paint 3 sides of the house, replace garage door, sand and paint deck railings, replace broken windows, screens, and shutters, and replace some gutters.

+ 9 moreWonderful! Not only were they the lowest bid, they got both homes on the schedule quickly and they are both completely done already. They are honest, fair, and do quality work. And the and quot;biggieand quot;, they even cleaned up after themselves like they were never here. Very hard to find these days. I wish that all companies had the integrity that Advanced Exteriors has. We worked exclusively with Mike and he was wonderful and always available.

+ -1 moreThis is a review for my Mother-in-law's home; we live in an entirely different state, so the entire process was handled via email and phone. I sent 3 emails based on Angie's list ratings, and Cliff with AE was the first to respond. He called me and set up a time to visit the house, stopped by, provided a bid, and followed up several times to see where we were in the process. Once we were ready for the work, he coordinated the date for the work, material delivery on Thursday, work on Friday. When they did the actual roofing work, they covered all the bushes, picked up the debris, and spent some extra time working on a portion of the roof that had leaked in the past. My Mother-in-law had nothing but high praise for Cliff and the team at AE. overall, very easy process, good communications, and they followed through very well on the job.

I don't get how someone would spend two hours with me documenting the work to be done and promising great things( even emailing me all of the photos) and then just drop off the face of the earth. Kyle Anderson was supposed to meet me on three occasions and missed all appointments without so much as a call. These guys are clearly only interested in chasing insurance companies for whole roof claims. It would be better if they just said "we don't so repairs" instead of wasting a ton of my time. Update: Im fairly floored at the company's response. My whole complaint is centered around my inability to talk to Kyle Andreson, he never showed up for any of the appointments. I did not ask the company to pay for anything because I NEVER got a followup appointment to work. Our roof is 2 years old, I'm unsure how we have aging and heat blistered shingles, that's not mentioned on any of the correspondence with Andrew Knickerbocker (who actually did show up but was somehow unable to estimate the project). I tried three times to get an appointment to get a quote for work to replace/repair the leaking valleys in our roof. on 6/12/13 I got this email from Angrew Knickerbocker: "sorry for the delay I am trying to get a project manager to come over to your home and discuss the repairs and give you an accurate bid. if you do not get a call by Friday from Nick Harte please respond by phone or email and I will seek out somebody else. once again sorry for the inconvenience we will get this taken care of ASAP thank you for your time" I called to get someone rescheduled and no one responded. They say in their response that no work was ever performed - that's exactly my complaint! I never spoke to Kyle Anderson, I wanted to, I had appointments to, but he missed all of the appointments. I'm not sure how I made demands of someone I never spoke to.
Description of Work: The provider failed to do anything. I originally called them to investigate a leak in my roof. They sent Andrew knickerbocker to give me an estimate and after climbing all over the roof and taking a ton of pictures he went back to get me an estimate. After several tries to follow up I finally got ahold of him and he said ill have to send an estimator.I thought he was the estimator?? what did I take time off work for?? With three weeks of attempted follow ups and missed appointments nobody ever showed up again. Please don't make appointments if you don't want the work!

+ -1 moreThey did a beautiful job, really paid attention to all of my very specefic installation requests. My only complaint was in the deal making process. They didn't honor a $500 Angies List coupon I discovered in my house. I think that on a $22,000 job, that was kind of cheap of them. The would also only agree to write the contract either with ALL insurance payments going directly to them, or as a cash deal only, thus leaving all contacts with the insurance company in my hands. It seemed that if they expected to get additional monies from the insurance company, it should have come off the bottom line, and not automatically into their pocket. They were very intransigent on this point, so I went with a cash price, perhaps to my detriment, but I thought perhaps they would at least honor the Angies list coupon ( which had no expiriation date). That disappointed me. I would recommend them for the quality of their work, and attention to detail. However, I felt they could have been more flexible with the deal making. Everything was purely to their advantage, and they didn't budge on pricing. That said, their price was one of the best estimates I received , and they were recommended by the manufacturer for the installation of this product, which is why I chose them to do the job.

This was a process that took six months, but they were extremely patient in helping resolve issues with the mortgage companies. They did an excellent job with the roofs as well.

+ 3 moreThese folks put on new lifetime guaranteed siding on my house and new trim to match my new roof, new gutters and new garage door . So obviously with all those new things I have some experience with contractors and companies after having had all that done. I also had an entirely new electrical box system replaced and got really ripped off as I did not use Angie's List.I had also ran into problems with another siding company that I first called and they couldn't even keep scheduled appointments and didn't answer calls. So I was worried and very gun shy as this was going to be a major investment I can not tell you how happy I am with the home and the men that provided the work. Bill Davis signed me up and came over daily to follow the work, including after the job was complete to make sure I was satisfied. The siding crew was overseen by Ken Choi. They came over early on a Friday and worked til way past quitting time. Now here's the extra amazing part, they showed up Saturday and Sunday( !!!!) and worked until the job was done Sunday.I couldn't believe it! I figured the job would take a week minimum and that is if and when they were available and could do the work. It is a two story house and double garage so it was a big job. They got to me in about a week after I signed on. I highly recommend Bill, Ken and his men. I have never, never seen anyone that worked as hard and efficiently as these guys did. I encourage requesting Ken and his crew to do your job if he is available. Can't promise they will do it on a weekend but you would want these people working on your house.They also did some extra work on the interior of my house that needed some drywall work and put up with my dog "helping"and barking encouragement. My neighbors are in awe of the house and ALL said they could not believe the hard working guys and final result. My neighbor that used someone else to paint his house was a nightmare job that took over 20 days to get it done. Needless to say he is incredibly jealous and wished he would have used Advanced Exteriors. These are the people you would want to work on your house. I hope to have A.E.do windows now down the line and would use them again in a second. I hope you have the excellent quality work and experience that I had.

+ -1 moreWe are selling our house and had the roof repaired by a roofer who said they were licensed. Unfortunately, they were not. So we called Advanced Exteriors in an emergency to get a certification of our roof over the weekend. The woman I spoke with was very compassionate and realized the urgency of the situation. The owner was contacted that day and within just a few hours the roofer that was to do the job called us even though it was a Friday evening. He was very caring and explained what a certification was and how much it would cost. He was happy to schedule for that very Monday in order to meet our deadline. This has impressed both my husband and myself. We did not continue with the certification, due to the fact that we came to a resolution with the buyer, but will certainly keep them in mind for any work needed in the future based off of their customer service.

+ 0 moreI own a duplex and had to coordinate the roof repair with the couple on the other side. It was difficult for us to agree on a contractor because we don't get along very well. Advanced Exteriors was one of the few companies that didn't use subcontractors for labor which was a must-have for the neighbors. Robert did an excellent job working with the insurance company to get every penny necessary to do the job. It was not an expensive roof (less than $10k) but we got first class service. Before we found Advanced Exteriors, I was convinced the roof would never get fixed and if it did, it would go over budget. Everything worked out as planned and Robert did an amazing job coordinating with some difficult personalities. I could not be happier!

+ -1 morefor all of the installation issues to be resolved to my satisfaction. All of the installation issues were eventually resolved. It became clear to me in the process that the sales functions from Advanced are professionally completed but the operations management of the company is not. There was little to no supervision of the installation crew and the carelessness and poor quality of the installation was direct result of that lack of supervision. It was very disappointing that the operations end of the company essentially left the quality control of their installers to me the homeowner and they were ready to declare a poorly executed job complete with glaring quality issues. In defense of Advanced Exteriors I will say that in spite of the number of return visits and their slowness to take my complaints seriously they did eventually respond and satisfied all of my concerns. No one ever raised their voice including me. I would work with Advanced again. I would recognize that their supervision and quality control are not up to professional standards and insist that they provide additional supervision to avoid the problems I had. Advanced uses independent contractors as installers and they need to provide proper supervision. Lastly I would also reiterate that Advanced eventually addressed all of my issues including replacing my siding. I am satisfied with the completed project.
Description of Work: I contracted to have the roof replaced on my home and detached shop. I got three quotes and I chose Advanced for three reasons. One was that they were willing to match the lower of the quotes I received, they provided a manufacturer's warranty from GAF that spans 50 years with a 20 year non-prorated period that is transferable to another owner, and their representative was professional and courteous. They maintained contact with me and scheduled the job to meet my schedule. Communications were good and their crew arrived on time and were also very courteous. My problems started after the job was completed and I began to inspect the work. The following list describes the issues I had. 1. The contract crew did not install the roof on my house the way it had been sold to me. There was a low pitch covered porch that the crew installed a flat surface roofing material that I had been assured was not required. I was right but my issue was that if they intended to make the change they should have communicated that to me prior to installing the materials. They wound up having to replace that portion of the roof and it would have saved them time and money. 2. The installation crew damaged almost all of the gutters on my house with ladders do to carelessness and lack of concern. in one area they completely tore off a gutter. All of the gutters were eventually repaired or replaced. 3. The installation crew did significant damage to expensive James Hardie siding I had installed previously. In the end Advance hired another contractor to replace and paint an entire wall on my house to repair the damage. This was one area where I was particularly disappointed since I had asked that Advanced take care not to do that. 4. Probably the most aggravating issue was carelessness in nailing the shingles to my roofs. There were countless areas in both of my roofs where nail heads were exposed. I am an engineer and I knew that was not acceptable. I also knew that GAF would also not have approved of this poor installation quality. I was particularly insulted that representatives from Advanced tried to tell me that a certain percentage of nail heads were acceptable. The problem was they could never actually define how many and their excuse failed to address the fact that the workmanship was shoddy. In the end it took two months and three return visits
