Run! Don't even consider him! His work is horrible and amateurish. He claims to have been doing this for 40 years but his work seems like he just started. We hired him to do a bedroom and bathroom remodel. He initially said it would take 4-6 weeks. Three months later he still hadn't even partially finished the job. As things were starting to come together we began noticing the shoddy workmanship. The first things we noticed was that walls were out of plumb and unlevel. He said he could fix it - never did. The second issue was the drywall finish. We have humps in the drywall on all the seams and clumpy messes along the entire seam where the wall meets the ceiling. There isn't one single square corner in any of the areas that he touched. The crappy paint job only highlights the inconsistency. The texture is so inconsistent that it looks like a 2 year old's art project. Then when it came time to seat the carrerra marble countertops, not only did he cut the first one 1" short, after we confronted him about his $750 mistake, he cut the other one the EXACT same length resulting in another $750 mistake! The next major $500 mistake was that he used a broken razor blade to remove plastic off of the glass panes in the bathroom door with 15 panels and scratched every single pane on each side. When I showed him that you could peel it off with your fingers, he looked baffled like it was something new that he had never seen before. The final straw was when he flooded our basement. He had made a poured shower pan out of concrete but in the front outside corner where the wall met the lip of the pan, you could see daylight between them. I was blatantly apparent that this pan would never hold water. When I heard him running the water, I ran back to see what he was doing and there was water all over the floor and leaking into my basement. He just stood there with his hand on his forehead trying to figure out where the water was coming from instead of turning it off. I had to yell at him to shut off the water before he did anything. When I ran downstairs, there was water pouring from a light fixture onto the floor and a large pool of water. At that same time, Al pulled the drain plug knowing that the drain hadn't even been attached to the main sewer line yet effectively flooding my basement even more. At that point I had enough and started calling other contractors. He walked out on us when we hired someone else to do the bathroom tile and finish work. After we hired Eric the new tile guy, Eric started pointing out everything that was done incorrectly and how he had never seen such poor workmanship before in his career. He had to gut the entire bathroom and start over just to make sure it was going to be done correctly. Eric suggested that we rip EVERYTHIN out and start over that Al had touched. That would be the only way that it would ever look right. We also hired an electrician to come look at his work. The Electrician had to rip everything out and start over because nothing was done to code or even partially correct. Initially, the electrician couldn't get anything to work. That's when we realized that Al had ran the main electrical line to an extension cord in the garage instead of directly to the electrical panel. When Al left, he took the extension cord effectively cutting off all power to whole back of our house. We have since gotten quotes to repair everything Al messed up and will have to save to get it done. I am extremely unhappy with the results and seriously want to sell my house because of what a crappy job this guy did to our house.

From start to finish Al was wonderful!! He was polite and professional. He came over right away to assess the problem, even though it was his day off! He quickly diagnosed what this issue was and had an estimate to us within hours. Al worked around our busy work schedules and communicated clearly every step of the way. He took pictures and samples of the dry wall to make sure there was no risk of mold. His work on the ceiling was seamless. He went the extra mile to assure that the concrete beneath our carpet was dry, then he replaced the carpet pad and re-stretched our undamaged carpet. It is obvious that Al takes a lot of pride in his work! He made sure we understood what was happening throughout the process and that we were satisfied with the finished product, which we were!! I will absolutely use Al in the future!!

Initially, he seemed professional, albeit slow in his work. He said he would come back to complete the remaining repairs and that I should pay him directly versus purchasing another deal on Angie's List. He never called me, so I attempted to contact him on Monday, again on Tuesday and finally on Wednesday I received a scathing email. This was my first purchase on Angie's List and I did not see all of the and quot;Fand quot; and and quot;Dand quot; reviews. They all comment on his lack of responsiveness, which could not be more accurate. Not a good feeling about this person and definitely would not recommend him - a bit of a loose cannon and a potential liability for both the homeowner and Angie's List. Contractor should be removed from the list of providers.

I initially purchased an Angie's List Handyman deal to have some heavy pictures hung in a house I recently purchased. I booked the appointment with Al, and overall he did a fair job. He arrived on time and did the work as agreed. I paid with my voucher and we discussed some future work. I scheduled for Al to come to my house to replace my screens after a bad hailstorm. I needed the screens AND the screen frames replaced. I have re-screened windows before and while a tedious job, it is not normally a terribly complicated one. I also asked him to replace a GFCI outlet in my garage that had been shorting out causing power loss downstream for my alarm system and outside lights. Al arrived at my house at 7 am. I arrived home from work at 4:30 PM and he was still working on my driveway putting screens together. He did not finish and leave until nearly 6 pm. I had only five screens that needed replacement. The fact that he took nearly 12 hours to do the agreed upon work and none of it was done right is inexcusable. Although he did replace the GFCI outlet, the outlet blew that same night causing my alarm system and outdoor lights to lose power again. When I arrived home, I did not have time to closely examine the work since I had an appointment. I incorrectly assumed that it would be done properly. When I checked the screens, I noticed there were gaps in every window he did (gaps between the screen frame and the window frame). These gaps would easily allow bugs into my home. I paid 350 dollars plus the cost of materials and have nothing to show for it. I will have to have all the screens re-done as well as the outlet.

Since Al told me his work was guaranteed for a year, I emailed him immediately to express my concerns. He did not respond until I texted him two days later. He said he would read the email when he got out of jury duty that day. I did not hear back from him. I texted again and he suggested I contact an electrician for the outlet. He made no mention of refunding my money. I asked about the screen and he said and quot;he had an idea to fix the problem and would get back to meand quot;. Still no word, so again, I texted him. He said more of the same and said he would try to get by my house before the weekend (last week), but if not, Tuesday (which is today). I have not heard a word from him. Al blamed the window screens on the fact that my house had settled some (built in 1999). Mine is certainly not the only house in Highlands Ranch that has done some settling and needed new screens, and I do not believe I am in the minority in expecting the screens not to have one inch gaps between the frame and the window frame.
I am entirely dissatisfied with the work but even more so with the lack of accountability and communication in an effort to make things right.

Al was extremely friendly and flexible with what turned out to be a very difficult repair. We had a leak in our roof that got into the ceiling and the light fixture in the room. We had the roof replaced, and a hole in the ceiling after removing the damaged area. Al came to fix it but noticed we still had a leak and was honest in his recommendation to wait for the repair until the leak was fixed. The leak turned out to be problematic and Al was very flexible in rescheduling the work a few different times. In the end we had guests coming and wanted to get the hole fixed in a very tight window right around the holidays. Al came out and did a get job on a difficult patch job and even helped out with a few light fixture problems we had. He has a small operation and that might not translate well to an online service like Angies list and the instantaneous expectations of the digital age, but I think the honesty and integrity was a breathe of fresh air and I will call them again for our next handyman job.

Al Combs was punctual, helpful and professional. Even though the coupon was purchased over 5 months ago he honored the
deal and was very prompt in answering my phone call. Al helped in finding the best toilet for me and recommended the
appropriate parts. In addition he fixed some of the flooring problems that he found in the bathroom. I recommend him highly and
would not hesitate to use him again.

Very professional and he did a great job! I was very pleased with the service, and the quality of the work performed. Al was very personable and pleasant. Got service thru a Groupon coupon for $100.00. It was the best $100.00 I have ever spent. I have already told some friends about the service. He gave some good advice on some other home projects. I have other projects that I will call upon him again. Again Great Job!

They did good work, were professional in their behavior, helped choose appropriate materials (e.g. floor tiles that were not slick). The job took longer than they had hoped, as there were some complications in the plumbing.  They had to work through the weekend, but finished in consecutive days.  It looks great.  I recommend highly recommend Al and would hire him again.

He always made sure that I got exactly what I wanted, and would explain sometimes why I should or should not use the measurements that I had thought I wanted - eg- how high to put shelves in a closet, where to put the hanging bar etc..
He made sure the smoke and carbon monoxide alarms worked. He hung a few coat hooks and misc odds and ends.
He is a very pleasant professional. I will definitely call him again.

Al did good work. He was responsive and careful with most of the jobs he did for us. If you are looking for a guy that can handle a list of household handyman work Al is definitely worth a call. He was flexible and took his time to do it right. Highly recommend.

Al is a good guy and goes good work. We had just a couple of scheduling speed bumps, but ultimately things worked out. He was responsive and gave plenty of notice for rescheduling our first appointment, so ultimately we weren't put out. If you are looking for a guy that can handle a list of household handyman work Al is definitely worth a call.

There were issues scheduling the appointment, after contacting the service provider three times he still did not return my call. Instead, he sent his brother to come out and unclog a garbage disposal. He installed two outside receptacle covers (which I purchased), that was a total of ten min and one was not adequately installed. I was warned not to report this to Angieand acirc;€™s List as this service providerand acirc;€™s brother stated they only had good scores. I needed him to re-plumb the garbage disposal, hang a ceiling fan and now I am left with incomplete projects.

Provider did not cut around doors before forcing them out, so the drywall was badly torn around both doors and WE had to have the drywall repaired. He left sawdust and wood chips from my master bedroom, through the main bathroom, down the hall and all over the stairs and entryway. He did not clean anything up. After forcing the doors out he did not install the new doors properly. He used huge screws, marring the doors and requiring us to use a tub of putty to fill the holes...he did not fill the holes for us. We did the framing ourselves and reset the doors after he left. He broke a picture frame which I had to clean up and he did not offer to replace it or clean up the mess he made.
