THE WORST MOVING EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!   -And we've moved 13 times. If you value your possessions, your home, your time or your sanity do not use A Alliance.  We were under the gun to move and failed to check Angies list--had we, we would have not chosen this moving company as there were plenty of warning signs.

Initial interaction and bid process went fine, they were not the lowest cost mover, but my husband's experience with the agent was the best.  We discussed the need to dissasemble about $4000 worth of office furniture (scandinavian furniture), identified high value items for special packing (which they didn't do) and we requested and purchased special boxes for our beds (tempepedic)

THe packing crew showed up on time and appeared to be doing a reasonable job---but we couldn't be in all the rooms to supervise.  packing done by the lone woman on the team was excellent and everything she pack arrived in great shape.  Packing done by the other two team members was a disaster.  Heavy ceramic pots and metal lamp bases were packed together with tiffany glass lamp shades with minimal packing materials--the glass shades were of course all broken.    Computer equipment was packed with silk flower arrangements--all crushed.  Food was packed with dishes---but packages were not sealed--rice, pasta, coffee, sugar, you name it all had all spilled--total loss and a huge mess?.and the list went on and on.

The packing crew ran out of boxes and paper however and left work for the moving crew to finish.  They also stated that the movers would do the furniture disassembly.  The moving crew apparently never got the word however as they arrived without boxes, knowledge nor apparently concern for the items not yet packed.  When I spoke with on of the crew about the furniture and some of the items he said "lady I've been doing this for 18 years I'll treat this as if it were my own".  Yea, well I'd hate to see his stuff.  Nearly every piece of office furniture was broken or damaged beyond repair--they repeatedly said it would be "fine" without disassembly, and we didn't push hard enough.   To make matters worse they attempted to hide the damage--rather than calling it to our attention as other movers have.  Things we caught--like gouges on ethan allen nightstands --and brought to their attention they later attempted to deny.  They dragged mattresses out into the garage --they were covered in dirt when they arrived---and had no boxes for them.

On the delivery end they had no materials and made no attempt to protect the floors and carpets we had just had cleaned in our new home.  THey didn't put things where we asked.  They stacked crushable stuff at the bottom of large stacks of heavy boxes, they attempted to hide obviously damaged furniture.

The claims process was even worse---after months of haggling, unreturned phone calls, pass the buck and other games of run around we settle for penny's on the dollar--making this also the most expensive move ever.

They were due to arrive after noon, but instead showed up at 11am. This would not have been a problem if I was someone who just sat around all day doing nothing. On the contrary, I have a job, and I work from home. I can conference calls I am expected to be on, business meetings I am involved in - just like everyone else - except I do it from home. When I was not able to drop EVERYTHING with no notice to accomodate them being over an hour early, I was treated poorly to say the least. I called the manager, Rob, and when I tried to explain my concerns to him I was promptly advised of all the things that I had done wrong...then was hung up on. How is that for service and professionalism?
