Customer service/relations is non-existent. I shopped around looking for the best place to buy my decking material from and settled on the Deck Superstore. I went in with a napkin sketch in hopes that I could walk through the material needed for my deck. Design and quote of the deck seemed to go fine until I received my material. Once the deck was framed and I started going through the composite decking I quickly found out that 1/2 of the material was delivered as square edge instead of grooved. The person I worked with and one of the sales managers told me it was my mistake for not reviewing the quote provided by the person I sat down with to design my deck. Because of this error I had to return the decking (added costs and a hassle since there were 20' long pieces) and pay a 10% return fee (again not my error when the designer inserted the wrong material in the quote). Also wanted to mention that when I went to return and pick up the correct boards it took 2.5 hours waiting at the store. When the return came back to me the cost was 6 boards short and when I asked why they noted 6 of the boards were damaged beyond repair. I would hope that by moving the decking twice 17% of the boards would become damage beyond repair but that is what I was told without any pictures or proof. I called and emailed the manager for a week trying to get some clarity on the damaged boards and how this is my fault but didn't get to talk to anyone for a week. I then sent to the store and waited 20 minutes to talk to the manager. At that point I asked to see the boards and they could only locate 4 of them and the boards had little if no damage to them. The manager stated they would locate all of the boards and look them over again. Today they told me 2 of the 6 boards can be repaired (likely the 2 they couldn't find). I will be picking up these boards and praying they did not mess up any other portions of the order. Save yourself some time and money and shop elsewhere.

They were very professional, courteous and prompt with requests. They were very helpful in coordinating deck design and materials to fit our budget. I would definitely recommend them to my friends. My friends were very impressed with the deck design and three dimensional renderings.

Scott was friendly and asked a lot of questions about how we wanted the end result to look. He kept us informed of new developments throughout the process. When we made a few changes to our order he was understanding and accommodating. Overall it was a great experience and I will do business with them in the future.

Last Spring I found a wonderful contractor (Bill, at First Choice Construction) to replace my average size L shaped deck.  He had been using the Super Deck Store for years and sent me there.  I asked the salesman a lot of questions because I wanted zero maintenance and no future problems.  I chose a plastic product made by Gossen and a glass picket railing.  He assured me the Gossen product was fantastic, everything I was looking for, but he did warn me that people didn't always like the glass railing because it was hard to keep clean. Bill had sent over the correct deck measurements, (allowing for wastage), and I showed their "Product Specialist, Scott, a brochure photo of the exact color, size and brand of the products I wanted.  Turns out he over orders the planks and fasteners and the wrong kind of railing.  Reordering the correct glass pickets was going to cause a delay, so I went online and found they wouldn't be delivered any faster, but they were cheaper.  Scott assured me he would honor that price.  At completion Bill offered to take back the extra planks, still on the pallet they were delivered on, (because the Store would charge to pick them up). When he got there, they told him they were going to discontinue the Gossen line because people were unhappy with it, that it scratched too easily.  They wanted him to tell me they would only take back a few, (with a restocking fee!), and the rest were too scratched.  Bill told them he couldn't believe how they were treating a customer, that he didn't see any scratches on the planks, and if there were any, they would have been caused when dumped off their truck.  He backed me up everyway he could, but it just got worse from there.  I never received any kind of an apology and they ignored me until I put a stop payment on my credit card. I wanted them to take back all the planks, refund the restocking fee, and honor the internet picket price they said they would on the glass pickets.  (I gave up on getting a credit for over $60 in fasteners).  They had me contact the District Gossen rep to come look at the planks that were taking up lots of room in my driveway for many weeks.  He didn't see any scratches.  Then they inundated me with loads of bizarre invoices and credits in the mail. (one credit memo would be identical to another except for a price had changed from negative to positive).  It truly was an awful experience and I did eventually get the credits, but I am left with a deck I am nervous about using.  However, the one thing they didn't want me to buy,- the glass picket railing- looks great.

I would recommend the deck store as a great source for all your decking needs.  I found that their prices were a bit more than others on some items, but purchasing everything in one place was convenient.  I had to return some extra items at the end of my project and the return process was trouble free.

We had an existing ugly pink kidney-shaped deck with a faux flagstone pattern stamped into it. We wanted to build a new rectangular deck atop the existing one. Using a drawing with dimensions of the existing deck we provided, together with our comments on what our desires were, Scott Adams prepared a computer generated plan showing a treated wooden substructure of 2x6 joists and headers; the layout of the composite deck boards, post, rails and steps; and several three-dimensional renderings showing what the completed deck would look like. Using the same computer program, he produced a detailed listing of the various materials we would need to build the deck, including everything from the composite boards, rails and posts, to the joists, redwood post inserts, joist hangers, nails, screws and the special clips needed instead of screws to attach the deck boards to the joists. It also priced out each of the various categories of materials needed. After we started building the deck we decided to make some changes in the design, whereupon Scott prepared us a new plan and materials listing. We needed to take some materials back and exchange them for some different ones. This was handled with a problem. When the deck was finished we were able to take any leftover materials back for a full refund. The deck was expensive to build (we used Trex Transend) but we thought the prices charged by the Super Store were fair, and whenever we compared them to Lowes or Home Depot, they were cheaper. The wood materials we bought from them were of superior quality, too.
