customer service we have received from a vendor. On installation day,
items we expected were overlooked and forgotten. The installers seemed to be
frustrated and anxious to get to their next job. The project was completed
after four weeks, requiring three more visits to our home. The piece in
question was at first broken, then ill-fitting, and finally installed.
Their sales manager's phone demeanor fit our definition of dismissive and
unprofessional, informing us that completion of our job would have to be
"fit in" around other projects. We attempted to contact the owners
for resolution to the situation felt we were treated with the same disrespect;
the answer indicating that what mattered was that the project was eventually
completed to our satisfaction. To their credit, the work done is of high
quality and we are satisfied with that aspect of the project.
The countertop market in Colorado Springs is highly competitive; we recommend
that consumers look elsewhere for their countertop needs.
Their initial quote was in the middle of four others we received. The project included a win-shaped bar sitting on a half-wall above and behind the countertop. Their sales person quoted two counterbalances (support brackets). Based on my knowledge of engineering, I expressed my concern that two would be grossly inadequate. He insisted that their template person would make the final decision. The template person turned out to be the company owner. He concurred that five supports would be appropriate. That raised the price by $300. It was not a deal breaker, but it should have been obvious up front.
The templating process was amazing. The owner showed up with a laser device and laptop computer mounted on a tripod. He positioned it in the center of the kitchen, placed reflective markers on all corners of the counter and bar tops, and shot the laser at each reflector. The computer automatically drew the components and created the program for the computerized water jet that would cut the granite to its precise final shape. The installation was scheduled for two weeks later. The faucet we wanted would not have fit behind the Blanco sink we had selected if the templating and cutting process had been less precise, or if they had used a sink mounting method that required more mounting hardware than their clip system.
On the scheduled installation day, the crew arrived after an already long day of work. The granite was gorgeous (Brazilian Typhoon Bordeaux) and the workmanship (cutting, edging, polishing) was perfect. But, as they installed the granite, it became obvious that the counterbalance supports were the wrong length making it impossible to position the granite properly on the bar top. The next day, they cut down the supports to the proper length and repositioned the granite.
Bottom line: I will gladly recommend them to others because the quality of their stone work is outstanding, their shop is the most efficient, and they are responsive to customer concerns. One shop actually quoted $1,500 less than they did, but I could see that the installation would be problematic.
