the technician took the broken socket out and scraped the center contact. he then explained to my husband that he could put in a new one and check out the kitchen outlets and light switches for $245.00. He wouldn't just change the light socket or give a price quote for this. He also explained other "packages" that would increase the number of outlets he checked and add a longer time of warranty for an increasing amount of money. Again, he wouldn't just change the socket. At this point, my husband, feeling cornered, asked how much to just put it back together. It was no charge, but the trip charge was $59.00. The light did work for 4 days and is now not working. Ridiculous!

We are selling our place and the electrical outlets in our Kitchen per inspection needed to be up to code. The technician, Daniel was very professional and polite. We originally thought we would need GFIC outlets on all 4 outlets in the kitchen but according to Daniel, only 1 GFIC outlet needed to be installed. He performed his work in a timely manner. We paid $336 which included the dispatch fee of $59. The price seemed a little to high to me. I wish I had done more research on pricing and had gotten another quote but we were in a hurry to get the issue resolved. In the future if their prices turn out to be competitive, then we might consider to using them again.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We are happy to hear that you got everything resolved in time for you to close, we absolutely understand closing can be hectic and stressful! We would like to assure you in regards to our pricing that we are competitive with other reputable companies but in case we do come in higher than someone else, we price match all apples to apples quotes. We just require seeing a copy of the quote the other company supplied you and as long as they are providing you the same quality parts and materials as well as the scope of work matches, we will price match them. If it does not match, we will still work with you on pricing to ensure you are getting the most value for your dollar. Again, thank you for posting a review. If you need anything in the future please do not hesitate to give us a call. Have a wonderful day!

Once WireNut arrived, performed circuit diagnosis which was not required because he missed CB tripped which would have fixed problem. Found CB had been actually tripped ....after expensive diagnosis. I was not told that I was signed up for Service Club monthly $ 19.00 fee used as future credit if needed. Today recieved yet another monthly charge. Was told that it was canx when I recieved a minor adjustment in November for disputed charges. Note: the technician never told me a thing about the Service Club and BINDING contract associated. When electrician arrived,I was presented with a menu of repair cost for each item. Charge options were not not given in dollar amounts but in a cost code such as 2CX and 4TX. Actual menu cost then explained after work completed... Extremely expensive for each fix and not adjusted for time and parts involved. Slick way to overcharge services and build billing. All my prior repair work has always been parts plus labor time. The electrician Benjamin was prompt and friendly....However I feel he was new and had been trained to maximize menu billing. Total charge of $745.00 . Replace : one GFI plug outlet....15 min one smoke detector...15 min one circuit breaker ...10 min

Arrival window was 8AM-12N. By 11:55AM no one had called or arrived. I called their office and was told the technician was at another job that was taking longer than expected. An hour later, at 1PM, still no call and no one came. I left to go to work. Finally got a call from their office at 2PM (a FULL 2 hours after the END of the arrival window) saying the technician was at my house and no one is answering the door. I say no one is answering the door because I went to work an hour ago. They offer to reschedule and I say I'll call someone else to reschedule. Only response from the other end of the phone was "have a nice day"

We have reviewed this situation and we absolutely were running late that day and we would like to apologize for that. What we expect is that customers are called so they are aware of the situation and we verify if that is ok or if another day would work better for you. We have also reviewed the phone calls and would like to say that our customers should always receive the best service possible and what happened on the phone does not meet our standards and those involved have been re-trained to ensure this does not happen again. This place will try to sell you services that are not needed. After my mother experienced some electrical issues and a power outage in her townhouse I called The Wirenut after hours. The service technician got her power back on said her entire panel needed replacing and half the wiring in her place was bad and also needed replacing. The temporary fix was a breaker to get the power on again. They explained that this part was no longer available and much of her electrical system would need replacing because of this. Since the work was very extensive and my mother is on a fixed income, we got a second opinion. The second company had the part on their truck and permanently replaced the breaker and verified the wiring in the home was sound. I would NEVER use this company for anything. They actually charged my mother to 'use' the breaker to get her power back up. They were very ugly to deal with and unprofessional once I told them the other company was able to repair her home. They were definitely NOT looking out for the consumer. A repair such as they were suggesting would have devastated my mother financially. Very bad company and unethical in my opinion. Stay away from them!

Seemed very expensive, considering it required almost no parts and maybe 8 hours labor for one guy. They also wanted to charge an additional $700 to replace 3 smoke detectors and add 5-6 additional ones, wirelessly networked, telling us it was required by law. We elected not to do that. Contrast that with another electrician we hired who just worked on our remodel, spending about 20 hours for $1000, I'd say they are about twice the price. The guy was very prompt and professional, and seemed to do a great job, but it was pretty clear they are overpriced and upselling a lot. Good job but definitely get another estimate to compare the cost.
Description of Work: Asked to check basement plugs and switches, as the previous owner finished the basement himself. They told us that all the outlets and switches were improperly wired and needed replacement. For this they charged $1100- about 10 switches and 10 outlets, give or take.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. In regards to the pricing we quoted you, anytime we replace any smoke detectors we also check all wiring running up to the detector and replace all wiring harnesses, should we encounter any additional issues while making the repairs and we take longer than expected we do not charge you anymore. All of our pricing is upfront and guaranteed down to the penny. The work also included an 18 month warranty on parts and labor. In the future, just something to keep in mind is that we price match all apples to apples quotes. We respect homeowners doing their homework but we always want to earn your business so please send us a copy of the quote and we will price match!

My daughter had signed up last year for a twice a year service to tune and inspect her furnace and air conditioner. They never called her to tune up her furnace this past fall, and so she called them in January to do the promised tune up. They said they had been too busy to call her and set up an appointment to do the work promised. So they came out last month to do the tune up. After doing the tune up, the technician informed her that she had a carbon monoxide leak that needed to be addressed immediately since it was dangerous, especially for her children. He told her that the furnace needed so many repairs, that it would be cheaper to get a new furnace. Just so happened to have a furnace specialist in the area to give her a sales pitch. The salesman again stressed to her that the carbon monoxide was dangerous, and of course she wanted the best furnace for her children's safety. Pushy sales pitch to get her to sign a contract for a new furnace. She called me in tears, wondering where she would find $5000. for a new furnace. I had her call the utility company, they came out immediately and informed her that there was no carbon monoxide leak. The following week she had another company come out and inspect her furnace. Again, no sign of a leak and he informed her that the furnace was working just fine. He also showed her what to look for and how to inspect her furnace for simple problems. Wirenut should be ashamed of themselves. I am telling everyone I know of this poor service and to always get a second opinion.

I think they took me for a ride. It was a very big rip off. It was something I could have done myself. They were here in October. The garage door was too close to where the garage light bulb was so it had to be moved over. I had the garage door guy come over and he took the garage door opener off and said that the main socket for the light needed to be moved over. I called and had The Wire Nut come out and he said he would put the new outlet in.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review about your experience. We appreciate all customer feedback and take it very seriously to ensure our customers receive the value they deserve. I have reviewed the situation and I see that we moved one outlet and added another in your garage. In this situation, we spent over 2.5 hours completing the work. Now regardless of the time we spend at the property, all of our pricing is upfront and guaranteed even if we take longer than expected. This means that we never complete work that you do not agree to. In addition, you received a 3 year part and labor warranty included. This beats any warranty anyone can offer to you. They did great work. Overall they were good although we had issues with the account because we were selling a house and somehow the people who bought the house were able to access it and tried to have services applied to our name. That is the only bad thing, but that is not the company. Their price was probably pretty good. I am not well versed on how expensive things should be, but it seemed reasonable. To get a better grade this company could have had a little bit more responsiveness, that would have been good. They did good work.

He did a good job. It was $45 which, I guess is standard for changing a switch. I haven't used a lot of outside help because, my husband use to do it all. I'm not in tune with the prices. I did have the coupon, I just wasn't expecting it to be that much. It was OK. He said that the ground had fallen and said that some electrical work needed to be done where it connects to the house. He said that they could do that for $6500 which, took me off guard when he recommended that. I would not use them until I check with somebody else on getting a $6000 repair. I have not done that with the winter weather and the snow. I am not use to having to call someone else in.

The prices were pretty high. Their quote was around over 2 thousand dollars to do the work. I don't know whether it's reasonable or not because we didn't really do comparison shopping. Their quote was on target but we decided to pursue a different solution because of the quote from Wirenut. We didn't pursue any additional services from them. We ended up not doing the work. They were flexible. We had them come up for an alternative solution with us. They were flexible in providing multiple quotes when they came over for the one visit. I just think the pricing was a little bit high. We would possibly use them in the future.

I called ahead of time and asked for a quote over the phone. I explained it was a fairly simple job for the electrician, removing 2 regular circuit breakers from the service panel and installing 2 new AFCI breakers, however, the person answering the phone would not give me a quote, just schedule an appointment. They said there was a $59 service charge and any work done would waive the service charge. I had a few other quotes and figured it was a safe bet that they would cost about the same, but since Wire Nut would be able to do the work the earliest, I went with them. Electrician was on time and professional. The electrician showed up and I explained what I wanted. He looked at the panel and came back with a series of options. The highest being around $1100 to do fire protection and GFCI protection. The lowest being what I had asked for originally, swapping out 2 circuit breakers only. I provided the new AFCI breakers and I asked how long he thought the work would take him. He said half an hour. Their price was $385!!! $385 for half an hour, labor only, no parts. Just to tighten the wires on all the breakers was another couple hundred dollars. I told the electrician the price was outrageous. The 3 other electricians I called all quoted me $90-$100 for the job. Why is Wire Nut 4 times higher? I told the electrician NO on the work, but Wire Nut still charged me $59. Thanks Wire Nut... I do NOT recommend Wire Nut to anyone, unless you are out of other options or they decide to reduce their pricing schedule. How do they expect people to agree to work with exorbitant prices and retain repeat customers?

heater and weekendThe tech was exceptionally demining. The work was done at my mother's home. She is 89 but her mind is very sharp. He was s curt and called her a liar. He was there for about 1.5 hours. Most of that time was taken up by him writing up a work estimate. The estimate ran from 820.00 to 1800.00. They had stated that it would be $400.00 do to the call being on a holiday and a weekend. My mother said ok. I had replaced her electric panel that day and when I was done the furnace did not restart. I am not a licenced electrician but I know what I am doing. I could see nothing wrong with the connections and I could not see why the furnace would not restart. That was why we called wirenut. There were three things that needed to be corrected, a connection to the water and dryer, some knockouts that had not been capped, and a splice. None of which wer critical. To do all of this he quoted 1800.00. My mother opted to just have the furnace restarted and she said she would deal with the rest on Monday. I took about 20 minutes to restart the furnace. For that he charged 800.00. When I came over on Tuesday following, my mother told me the water heater and dryer were not working. I checked the box and discovered that the tech had disconnected the water heater and dryer without telling my mother what he had done. I was able to complete all the work he said needed to be done in 45 minutes which included a new curcuit for the water heater and dryer. I can not believe unethical behavior demonstrated. Clearly this tech felt that he could take advantage of an old woman who did not know better.

We are sorry to hear you feel this way. I have spoken with you in regards to this matter as well as my electrician who is extremely adamant that he never called your mother a liar. He did however state that the panel you installed in your Mother’s home would not pass inspection. The furnace wiring had been altered and that resulted in the furnace not working. My electrician did a thorough diagnosis and checked the entire electrical circuit for the furnace and then located this issue and made the necessary repair and verified the furnace was working correctly. This repair took longer than 20 minutes as my electrician was onsite for about 2 hours about 1.5 hours of that was spent completing work. While locating this issue, he also found that the dryer and water heater were tapped into another breaker which is not only against code but it also overloads the circuit. This can lead to the breaker tripping or even worse the circuit overheating and melting or causing a fire. It is very unsafe and we would not leave it that way due to safety concerns. My electrician did however discuss this with your mother and let her know it was not safe and he would be disconnecting it, maybe there was a miscommunication and for that we apologize. When we quoted the repairs, this was basically a full panel refurbishment in order to bring the panel up to code as well as diagnose the issue with the furnace. At the time of completion of that work, you would be able to pull a permit, which for something like this is legally required to be done. We in no fashion take advantage of people regardless of age or any other factors. We always recommend multiple options for repair in order to ensure that our customers make the best decision for themselves. We present on the best option down to a band aid fix. It is up to the customer which they choose. In addition, as we charge flat rate, we cannot possible take advantage of anyone. We charge the same price for everyone for that specific type of job. Our pricing is also by the job not by the hour. As we do not charge an hourly rate, our goal is to complete the work correctly and inconvenience our customer as little as possible. We arrived at your mother’s home at 6:22 pm which was within an hour of her calling us. We restored the heat within about 1.5 hours. Had we stayed longer we would have been at your mother’s house late which does nothing but inconvenience her. We only want to ensure that our customers get the best service and repairs done possible. That was our only intention in this situation. We apologize that you feel this way. In light of your concerns and as we discussed, I did apply a credit to your Mother’s account. We hope this resolved the concerns you had. If you need anything else please give us a call. Have a wonderful day!

I was really disappointed that he installed it, then when I tested it, it didn't work and he high-tailed it out (I'd already paid him). His prices were high as well.
Description of Work: He did some doorbell and garage work.

I was not very happy with the scheduling. I wasn't expecting the ceiling fan was a little over priced for what I got. They tried to tell me my panel wasn't up to code. Very car salesman ish.
Description of Work: They installed a ceiling fan.

Tim and his guys did an amazing job. I was pretty sure they would do a good job but I was pleasantly surprised that it exceeded that. After getting all these quotes from companies and having various companies look over my current equipment, I only had two companies (Wirenut being one of them) point out things that could be improved on with my current setup without changing it out. Only a few companies told me I would need an additional air intake for example. Only Wirenut and Wright told me about the gaps in my duct system that could be sealed up to help with the system. Because of this knowledge you gave me, I was looking to see if Wirenut would do something like that because only one other company even pointed it out so it was doubtful that most if any would go the extra mile and seal the duct connections up. Julian and the other guy went that extra mile and sealed the duct which was a great surprise because it was something I hoped would be done but not something I expected to get done unless an installer went that extra mile. Not only that but Julian installed a GFI plug for the humidifier that he did not have to do. It was something we both missed because I told Julian that I was going to unplugging the humidifier when the inspector came but that was before we talked about connecting the humidifier to the system. With it being connected to the system it sounded like the inspector would have to inspect that as well. I told Julian I would talk to the electrician coming out to put in the AC connection to see about getting a GFI outlet installed close enough to the humidifier. Without me knowing he did this work himself and that was a blessing and something I did not except. You probably already know this but you have some great guys that work for you.
Description of Work: The installer installed a furnace and air conditioning unit.

The representative that came over was very nice and very knowledgeable about HVAC issues. He was on time and gave us a full blown estimate and why we needed to select the services he recommended. With that said, we decided to go against them because we received a quote significantly lower than them. What initially turned out to be a great first impression turned out bad since they had charged our credit card for the FULL amount before doing any of the work when we did agree to use them. That wasn't as hard to hear at first until they told us that they needed to charge us a 15% administrative fee for canceling (one week in advance) which would have been $600 for NO work done. That day was pretty chaotic but it did end up getting refunded in full after we spoke to management. We later found out that they charge a great deal of fees, including the use of the electrician, which they already have onboard, but charge you anyway. Their pricing is outrageous and their A/C units aren't even the best ones rated. Beware of the nice sales rep that comes to your house and oversells you on products you don't need.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We take all customer feedback very seriously. We would first of all like to apologize about the full amount being charged. It seems that was an error with our system and not a typical thing that happens. In regards to the 15%, that is charged in some situations due us beginning work on the job. This includes things such as pulling permits, obtaining equipment, time spent dealing with building departments or utility companies, and other things of that nature. In this situation, none of that took place, so we were more than happy to refund that full amount back out to you. We strive to ensure any dealings with our company work out in the customers favor. We want to make sure that all your needs are met and it was our understanding that you wanted a certain brand unit that we do not provide. We are happy to hear you found something that works better for you. For the inconvenience, We would be happy to extend a free year of our Maintenance and Protection plan which is normally $99 a year. Please give us a call should you like to take advantage of this offer. Have a wonderful day!
