Smith Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electrical

Be sure to read this entire review! If you previously had a negative experience with Smith Plumbing and Heating, I would highly recommend you give them another chance. (In 2020-21, I had several very negative experiences and honestly would not recommend them.) HOWEVER, in January & February 2023, I have had 3 separate heating and plumbing issues on 2 different properties where I have contacted Smith Plumbing and Heating because I have a 5-year service agreement with them from 2020. They have had significant turnover in employees and every single person I have worked with has gone out of their way to give me an exceptionally positive experience. First, on 1/10/23, REBECCA came for a furnace inspection on Property #. She was able to take care of a concern that I had with the brand new furnace they had installed in November 2020, she showed me everything she had inspected, and she went out of her way to show me she truly cared about the job she had done and to be sure I was satisfied. She told me she was out to regain my trust in Smith Plumbing & Heating. I was truly impressed with her as an HVAC specialist and as a person. Next, on 2/1/23 CARMINE came to Property #2 for a slow leak in both showers. He snaked the mainline and downstairs drain which cleared them. The upstairs shower needed additional work for which he provided several estimates. Again, he was polite, explained everything clearly and gave me options. Finally, and here’s the big one, on 2/7/23 Property #1 had a basement sewer drain that gurgled, drained very slowly, and eventually would backup if we ran a lot of water (toilet and shower)…so this was definitely an urgent situation. TRISTAN came out and after just a few minutes, he came back with the bad news that I had a cast iron sewer mainline pipe with a long crack that was leaking and literally disintegrating (see picture). He said he had to call a manager for this situation. Within a ½ hour JOSH FRIEDE arrived. There was a long section of sewer line in the crawl space that needed to be replaced right away, and then they could evaluate the rest of the basement sewer line. On 2/8/23, TYRONE, BISMAR, AND TRISTAN were back to replace the pipe within just a few hours. Again, very polite, explained everything that was happening, and placed plastic flooring on all the surfaces they needed to walk on. When they finished, JOSH FRIEDE came back and he and TRISTAN put a camera down the sewer lines to see what was happening. JOSH let me watch the entire scoping so I could see the extent of the damaged/corroded cast iron pipes in the basement. He wrote up several estimates which were a significant plumbing expense. The next day I another plumber come out for an estimate to be sure the price was fair. Smith’s was definitely the most reasonable. I had several questions about some line items on the estimate and JOSH returned 2/9/23 to explain and adjust the estimate. EMALEE – the plumbing coordinator - called later that evening to introduce herself and let me know she would be coordinating the job. Smith’s will be doing this work for us next week and I will update this review. Overall, these experiences, although unfortunate and costly, have been much more manageable due to the customer service I have received from all of the mentioned employees I have worked with at Smith Plumbing and Heating, but especially JOSH FRIEDE. He has definitely gone above and beyond to regain my trust and confidence in this company. I would strongly recommend you give them a call.

It was fantastic! They came when they said they would, and they cleaned up after themselves. Everything works great until now.

I'd give them "A's" across the board. They did very well.

The furnace stopped working in my rental house and they replaced a fuse and looked at a thermostat. The inside temperature of the house was less than 40 degrees when I was told about the heater not working. I called Smith Plumbing and Heating and she had a technician at the house in 20 minutes. He came out, looked at the heater, replaced the fuse, checked the thermostat and had the heater up and running in 25 minutes. It took a total of 45 minutes to fix the problem from the time I called to the time it was done. Simply an amazing job done. This is the 4th time I have used their services, 2 plumbing issues and 2 heating issues and they are always super fast, fair prices, and always easy to work with. I am very appreciative of their work.

I spoke with Julie. She was extremely kind, caring and concerned that she couldn't get anyone out to my home before 3 PM and that I'd be without water another night. She gave me the name and of a competitor. I made an appointment with Smith and said I'd call back if the competitor was able to come to my home sooner. I was able to get an earlier appointment, so I chose the competitor. Although I did not use Smith, I appreciated how caring Julie was. She even said, "Oh good. I hope they'll be able to get you all fixed up so that you will have water tonight." I COMPLETELY appreciated Julie's kind and empathic nature. You don't get that a lot anymore, especially when you call to cancel an appointment and they know you are taking your business elsewhere. I would call Smith Plumbing & Heating in the future--just because of Julie. Had it not been for the timing, I would have kept my appointment with Smith. The trip/diagnostic charge quoted was $10 cheaper than the company I went with.

She took the time to listen and although her company sold a totally different brand a/c she did advise me as to what steps the company should take and told me that she would love to hear the outcome. She broke down what exactly was the difference from the freeon and the new r410A which the government was going to. She advised me that we should probably take into consideration the new laws going into effect. Being a woman herself she was very patient in her explanations and didn't talk down to me as male techs sometimes try and do. If I ever have any plumbing needs I wouldn't hesitate to call her.

The service man was on time checked and serviced furnace and AC fixed leaky faucets as required. Service man was knowledgeable and answered questions.

The professionalism and expertise displayed was above and beyond what we expected. During the original checkout of the house they totally explained exactly what they would have to do to install the gas lines in complete detail. Then when we asked about also installing new toilets they offered to provide the toilets or install ones we had purchased for only a minor increase in the overall price of work to be done.
On the day of actual work, which was once day after the estimate, they arrived at 10 AM and had to completely repipe the gas system in the house including installing 2 new gas outlet pipes for the gas dryer and stove. All gas work was done and tested to ensure that no leaks existed. Then they installed the 2 ADA approved toilets were installed. Total time on the job was a little over 6 hours.
We are extremely happy with the results of their labors and expertise they showed and performed.

They perfomed all services and instructed me on how to set/reset the thermostat if I needed. I will use them again. I have used them in the past and they have always provided sevices professionally and to my satisfaction.

A plumber came out on Friday and said I didn't need a new water heater - "it just needed a new valve". I had NO hot water all weekend. Monday he came back and said, "I should have replaced both valves". That evening my son went into the crawl space and found the water heater spewing water all over! The bookkeeper was still in the office and tried "contacting all the plumbers, but they wouldn't answer because the Broncos were playing!"!! The next morning another plumber (Smith Plumbing) came out and replace the water heater, but couldn't take the old one out because it was full of water.

Smith Plumbing came to my house on July 23, 2012 because the AC unit outside kept frosting up and not cooling like it should. Ken came out and checked it and said that other than being low on coolant it was fine. He filled it and said call if it happens again and if they need to come back for the same problem then the labor would be free. I paid $171. About a week later it frosted up again and I called. Ken came back out and determined the same thing. Once again he added coolant and said if it happens again it may be a leak. There was no charge for that visit. Approximately a week later it frosted up again. This time when I called, the owner Beverly, said she would send a different technician for a fresh pair of eyes. Paul came and thoroughly checked the AC out and determined that there was a clog. He said the repair would run about $700. I told him that Ken had said if they had to come out for the same repair, the labor would be free. He said he was not authorized to make that decision and that I would need to call and speak to Beverly. I called expecting to have to argue the matter but was pleasantly surprised when Beverly agreed to honor Ken's promise. She was not happy about it since it was a large labor cost, however she agreed in the name of good customer relations. A few days later, Paul came out and spent a couple hours repairing the AC. I was charged only $122 for the cost of coolant. The system has been running great since the repair and I am very pleased. I will be calling Smith Plumbing for all of our needs and would highly recommend them.

I called Smith Plumbing back in April to get an estimate for Air Conditioning. After which, I had it installed.They were professional, timely, and reasonable. They also arranged for the electrician and the home inspections!they're terrific!

They were wonderful with me. I call them incase of any emergencies. They have been fair with me. The prices seemed a little high but I wasn't able to compare with anyone.

He is a good guy and I like him because he comes immediately, within a couple of hours of calling him. I like that in a person. I rate him very highly.

They were prompt and the price was good too.

I had an existing sump pump well but needed a sump pump installed with pvc piping routed to the outside. I also learned that I didn't have a GFI electrical outlet in my unfinished basement so I needed electrical routed from my box through the wall into the basement.

Smith Plumbing and Heating bent over backwards to help me. I was closing on my house sale and needed the work done in 2 weeks due to the inspection report and also needed temp financing until the end of the month. I had gotten several estimates and they were 3x what this company ended up charging me. The plumber and electrician were on time, did great work and were very professional. The receptionist at Smith Plumbing and Heating was wonder - a step above in customer service. I really appreciate all the did for me in a time where I was feeling very stressed about my home closing and under a tight deadline. I will definitely use them again.

My furnace and A/C needed servicing. The A?C was not working correctly. I called Smith's Plumbing and heating and made an appointment. I havee used this company before for plumbing problems. They have on both occasions been very responsive and have done excellant work. They were prompt, serviced the furnace and A/C, and put in a new thermostat. The technician explained the programing of the thermostat and programed it for me. It works beautifully. I am happy with the way the A/C is functioning. The technician left a check off list of everything that he had done. I thought the cost was reasonable for this service and will call them again for further plumbing and heating needs.

I was pleased with the price. I felt that it was fair. The man who came out was on time and he investigated the problem. He found the problem and had to go and get a part to repair the tank. He got the part and came right back to complete the repair. I give Smith Plumbing & Heating all A's for their services.
