MOUNTAIN SHADOWS PET HOSPITAL

I took my dog to Mountain Shadows Pet Hospital to see Cheryl McIntyre for grooming (nail and paw fur trim). After she over-trimmed two of his nails, causing them to bleed, she grabbed a used tissue which was on her table. The tissue had dry blood all over it. She grabbed it quickly so I did not have time to react until after the fact. I then asked her if she had used the tissue on other pets (it was obvious she had). She paused and then said, "Not recently" or "Not lately." Several days later, I called Mountain Shadows Pet Hospital and spoke to the office manager about this incident. I was very polite and professional, never raising my voice or expressing anger. I simply relayed to her what had occurred. Her response was, "Okay." I asked her if she intended to speak to Cheryl McIntyre, the groomer, about this incident and she told me she would have a chat with her, and then she (the office manager) chuckled, which communicated to me a nonchalant attitude about the incident. I was not offered an apology nor did I sense any sign of remorse from the clinic about this incident. I have withdrawn my dog from Mountain Shadows Pet Hospital and have filed a complaint against this clinic through the Colorado Department of Agriculture.

The team at Mountain Shadows Pet Hospital helped us and our beloved old cat through a very tough time. They were able to work with us to make her comfortable for the last few months of her life and were gentle and caring for the end when it came. I could not have asked for a more caring group. Prices were very reasonable and scheduling was very considerate. I wish I could find a human doctor's office like this.

Our experience with them was very good. They really care about animals and did what they needed to do. They gave us kind of a list of things that we should do and things that were optional so we could choose. So we chose to do some of the things and not all and luckily that was enough.

At our last visit, we began seeing swelling in our 13 year old lab's lower jaw. After talking with Dr. Durrance, he did a very thorough exam and even noticed that the skin under her jaw had appear to be "more lose" than was normal for her. She is being treated with drugs as we prefer not to put her under surgery at her age unless absolutely necessary. After just one day of the meds, the swelling is noticeably reduced.

We have been using Mountain Shadows Pet Hospital for at least 12 years for our two dogs, we deal mostly with Dr Wilson. They are compassionate and very good to work with on wide range of issues ranging from routine visits to cancer treatments. When one of dogs was diagnosed with oral cancer, Dr Wilson was fantastic to work with. From explaining the diagnosis, treatment options, referrals to specialist, and finally when we had to euthanize she made the whole process understandable and easier to deal with. She even came to our house to put our dog to sleep since it would be easier on her (our dog) and more comfortable. Her knowledge, compassion and love for animals is apparent every time we are there. I highly recommend them.

I have used them for the last 8-9 years and they are always very responsive to my needs. I recommend them highly to anybody and will continue to use them. Dr. Durrance is the vet I use.
