MC CLENDON CONSTRUCTION

McClendon Construction was hired to pour a large concrete patio and construct a deck made with composite decking material. Due to the size of the patio I felt that rebar should have been included in the concrete, they felt this was not necessary. Cracks appeared in the concrete within a couple days. He said this was normal due to heat, provided other excuses and filled the cracks with filler. Within the first year a support post was cracked and bowing and the railing was leaning significantly outward and dangerously loose. The railing was loosely attached to the side of the deck rather than secured on the top. After numerous requests they finally returned the following summer to correct. They only replaced the support post, which I was charged for. When asked about the railing they said they did not have the materials to fix and would return. They did not return. After many more months of conversations and patient attempts to get him to return he finally came out to look at the problem. Six weeks after looking it he returned to correct after agreeing to charge for materials only. They installed a couple 2x4s and some bolts and charged me $125. The railing still has a noticeable lean to it and he even admitted he would not show the deck to potential customers, nor want this deck in his own backyard. Shane McClendon Construction does shoddy work, is not accountable, has terrible customer service and I cannot recommend their services.
