 + -1 moreI returned the keys to Kingsborough and commented that we had not shampooed the carpet due to its spotted and worn condition. I fully expected it would be replaced as routine preparation for a new tenant. I was given no offer of walk-through with property management. I fully expected to be charged for normal cleaning of kitchen, bath and draperies but was shocked to be presented with a bill for cleaning of a carpet that should have been sent to the dump. I spoke to Sue at the management office and was told that just because a carpet was detached from the backing was no reason for replacement. She was more concerned about justifying spending $1,200 of property owner's money for new carpet rather than providing a comfortable living area for their next tenants. Kingsborough collected $36,000 during the six years our daughter resided in the apartment and did not spend a cent on cleaning or servicing the carpet. I would not recommend Kingsborough to anyone looking for an apartment
Description of Work: When our disabled daughter moved into this one bedroom apartment six years ago, we noted on the inspection report that the carpet was dirty and spotted in several areas. Management did nothing to correct these areas. I have carpet shampoo equipment and cleaned the carpet myself rather than wait for management to handle these items. During her six year stay, the carpet developed obvious wear and was coming lose from the backing in areas. We were troubled by the carpet and offered to help to pay for replacement several years ago. Management said carpet would only be replaced on tenant move-out. We wanted a larger apartment and terminated her lease in November. The carpet had exceed its useful life and we did not shampoo or clean the carpet other than a thorough vacuuming. We did not see any purpose in spending time and money on a carpet that had marginal serviceability.
