The woman that came to tell me what the cost and time it would be to move us grossly underestimated EVERYTHING. Her estimated cost was $11K with 1and1/2 days to pack everything and load. It took them over 4 and a half days to load, a total of three semi trucks (one was full, one they sent they put things in but it had no head or tail lights so IT WASN'T LEGAL TO DRIVE SO THEY TOOK IT BACK TO THEIR TERMINAL AND UNLOADED OUR STUFF ON A DOCK!!! The next day they put some of our stuff in a different truck and sent it toward Washington.
Sometime overnight 29 of our boxes and parcels disappeared conveniently. I don't know if they were stolen by employees of the moving company or others but I know I never got them back! When I confronted the Company about it, I was told I had to list exactly what was in each box to file a claim on their insurance. Well isn't that also convenient!?! They write down a "list" of what's in each box as they pack it (and they charge you quite a bit to pack those boxes too!). Here's how they listed things...
"Garage stuff"
"Kitchen Stuff"
"Bedroom Stuff"
(And worth noting, while they charge you for every box, sheet of paper, and tape, they carefully wrapped FULL trashcans instead of removing the trash liners to be disposed of, and they left fragile antique glass items and electronics unwrapped and buried at the bottom of heavy boxes full of books!)
Kind of makes it hard for ME to say EXACTLY what was in box #? now doesn't it!?! So they refused to even try to settle anything with me. One of them said to me, "Well, it's just too bad, these things happen." So I told him I'd be sure to tell everyone exactly what my experience with their company had been. Oh yes, and when we got to the Washington address, the second truck driver informed me they would not unload my stuff unless I showed him a Cashiers Check made out to them upfront. Otherwise, they were keeping my belongings. Oh yeah, this company is sleezy and crooked as the day is long. If there were a Grade below F that's what I would give them. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM.
Moving crew , which consisted of driver and packers, were great. Packers and loaders worked hard and efficiently. Driver was great, worked along with the crew, answered any questions, and took extra care with all my items.
Overall a great experience both times with Mayflower.
