Johnny Concrete & Remodeling

This was the best experience I ever had with a contractor. His price was much better than anyone else to begin with, the work was done with great attention to detail and it looks great! At one point in the project there was a surprise cost DECREASE from one of his suppliers and he chose to share that information with me and let me save a couple of thousand dollars. Usually those surprises are the other way around. He was very honest, hard working and we will hire him again for many other projects.

Once again a high quality job. We hired Johnny Concrete a few years back to do our master bath. We hired him again to do a complete remodeling of the hall bath. John quickly responded to our request with an up to date bid. He started the project on the day agreed upon and completed the entire project in eight working days. The project included a complete demolition of the existing bathroom; replacement of drywall, installing an in the wall medicine cabinet, new tub, vanity, plumbing fixtures, wall and floor tiles, exhaust fan, lighting fixture plus wall accessories. Nothing but quality work and he kept the job site very clean in our house. There is not a better person to hire for this project. He was very punctual each day and kept us informed each day on the plan for the day plus tomorrow. His cost was $4225 for labor and some material, the remaining cost was for the items we purchased for installation.

Exceptional. John Croft did a complete bathroom remodel for us. John handled everything from tile, plumbing, and electrical. The work was done meticulously, immaculately clean, under budget and ahead of schedule. I suffer from asthma and John worked out a system to vent outside with a fan so that there was minimal dust. John's price was very fair. He communicated daily and ensured everything was to my satisfaction. He offered technical advice to improve the shower for an aging family member to ensure safety. I would definitely hire him again.

GREAT! John Croft worked with us to identify suppliers for the new cabinets, countertops, and window and did all the work himself. The work was done meticulously, quickly, and neatly. He was able to close down each day and leave me with a working sink, frig, and range. Of special note: my husband's respiratory system is compromised, and John worked out a system to put up plastic and vent outside with a fan so that there was minimal dust, which created difficulty for him but made our experience living with the remodel VERY workable. John's work ethic is second to none and he is very fair in price and in negotiation. His opinions and leads were invaluable. This is the second major job that Johnny Concrete has done for us (bathrooms were first), and I'd hire him again.

Fast, and efficient. Very professional, left no debris behind, even watched for a while to be sure the surface set up before leaving for the night to be sure local kid on bicycle didn't write in it or ride through it. Returned next day to remove the forms and made sure the area was cleaned up. Still looks good a year and a half later.

Wow...if we had to described the final project in a single word, it would be Wow!  John is a great person to work with on a project.  He did not pushed for anything that benefitted him.  He was very easy to worked with.  His attention to details were more than we could have asked for.  He completed the remodeling as if our house was his house.  He took no shortcut and gave us a bathroom that is suited for a 5-Star hotel or luxury spa.  The primary focus was the removal of the all-in-one bathtub and shower enclosure and building a walk-in shower unit.  Our original intent was to hired someone just to do that conversion while we would do the remaining work.  John's price was so good, we hired him to do the entire project.  The cost listed above was for his labor and contractor's furnished materials.  We did our owned designed work and purchased the remaining materials.  We bought a complete vanity of hardwood with a marble top, under mount basins and matching dual mirrors online from Home Depot for $2100; from Tiles Trader we bought $2500 in tiles, Amazon we expended over $1300 on venetian bronze finished bath fixtures and light fixtures; and from City Glass we spent $1450 for an installed frameless shower door and wall.  Our total cost was right at $15,000.  This was less than the other three bids we received which was as high as $24,000 from a company that would make our dream bathroom.  John exceeded our dream with this remodeling.  We are hiring him to do our hall bath as well.  It is really difficult to put into words on how we feel this project turned out in it final form. My wife was very happy with how John protected the interior of our house with drop cloths that he collected each day and the plastic wall he built each day separating the bedroom from his work area.  We felt so good about John, that we had no problem with leaving him alone in our house each day.  We even took a day trip out of town with him working in the house.  It was evidenced each day on the amount of work he performed during the day. John arrived each day at the time he said he would, and put in at least 10 hours a day on the project.  We were very impressed with his skills and workmanship. You will not go wrong with hiring this man.

From helping us decide exactly what size and shape of patio that we wanted to completing the project, John did a simply outstanding job.  This was the second project in the past year that we had John do for us (the first was a total bathroom remodel).  John helped us think through things like appropriate size for and drainage around the patio - we modified our initial plan based on his advice, and we're so glad that we did.  He also helped us find a stamp that we're really happy with.  John always arrived when he said he would and was very conscientious in his work.  He's got a great work ethic and goes to great lengths to be helpful.  We wouldn't dream of using anyone else for a remodel or project involving concrete.  He's got to be the best there is.

Great, he is the best ever.  Everyday we came home to a kitchen cleaner that we had left it.  He is a great guy and a great craftsman.  I would hire again in a heartbeat.

John had done work for us previously as well. He is honest and fair and does great work.

.It went GREAT!!  The job started on 7 May and concluded on 28 May 2014.  My son and I started the staging area in the living room and filled it with Tile, fixtures, cabinets, lights, boxes of plumbing parts, paint, grout and other bits and pieces.  John arrived every day at 730am and worked at least 10 hours a day.  He is professional, polite and friendly.   John excels at what he does, if he sees that something in the plan  may not come out as expected he presents you with the problem and a solution all at once.  He did this several times during this job.  He also fixed several things around the house while he was here that had nothing to do with the project he was doing.  The subcontractors he brought in were all efficient, professional and very polite, and he worked with them throughout the day as they completed their part of the job.  He has a good working relationship with all of the building inspectors (we had 4 inspectors here in one day).  At the end of each day he took up all the drop cloths and VACUMED my hallway and living room.  I have other jobs that I hope to have John back for in the future.  I strongly recommend John to anyone who has a small or large job in mind for the future.  I know I feel lucky to have found him on Angie's List.

John was great to work with. He was prompt and took great care to keep my house clean, laying drop cloths on his work "path", taping up plastic sheeting to keep dust to a minimum, and tidying up at the end of the day. We felt very comfortable leaving John alone to work in our house as we went to work every day. When we'd get home from work, he'd show us what he'd accomplished that day, and would give us an idea of what was going to happen the next day. He asked questions to be sure we were getting exactly what we wanted, and had great suggestions to help us fine-tune our design. John's workmanship was outstanding and he took great care in getting everything just right. Even his initial bid proposal was detailed and thorough. We knew exactly what we were getting and how much we were going to pay for it. John was flexible both with scheduling and with changes we'd make along the way. We still have another bathroom to remodel and our kitchen needs an update as well. We most certainly will be calling John to do that work for us, and we'll be recommending him to our friends. We'd heard many horror stories about remodel work, but this was a wonderful experience, thanks to John's professionalism  and great work ethic.

John Croft is absolutely outstanding.  We knew basically what we wanted to do with our bathroom remodel but he offered tons of useful suggestions on both design and materials.  The finished product is better than we had even imagined.  The price was more than fair, especially given John's dedication to the job.  He was incredibly conscientious about everything,especially our time, attention to small details, and in cleaning up every night to allow minimal disruption to our lives while he completed the project.  That said, there wasn't a ton for him to clean up each night because of his careful preparation to protect areas outside of the area where he was working.  We were amazed at how quickly he completed the project.  John is absolutely trustworthy; we had no reservations about giving him a key to our house, leaving him to work as he needed while we were away.  He is a true professional and we would recommend him to anyone doing a remodel.

It went great. John came to our house and took out all the cabinets over Labor Day weekend. Then was finished before we came home from a vacation. He was willing to go the extra mile to fix an error in the cabinet shipping. Great guy and I was very pleased with the work.

Very well despite have to deal with "mother nature"

We contracted with Johnny Concrete for complete bathroom remodeling.  In consultation before and during the job, John had great ideas to share about things that have worked elsewhere, insights to realities of what we were requesting (many of which we hadn't thought through) and how things could be done.  He was very supportive of the decorating vision that we had, and his ideas were improvements, but presented in a cooperative way.  Because the baths were done sequentially (to keep a working bathroom available for the family), he spent approximately 3 weeks in our home.  He was as non-intrusive as possible during that time and worked independently, but we consulted with him daily and were always welcome to view progress.  As happens sometimes, there were changes that had to be accommodated along the way, and these issues were handled very professionally.  The rooms were stripped down to the sub-floors and the walls to the studs, and built from there.  During that time, the work areas were kept tidy and well-organized.  He respected our home and covered everything carefully, and he arrived at the times he said he would; when he wanted to work some longer hours, he always requested our agreement to the extension.  The owner worked alone and his work ethic proved him to be industrious and dedicated, and was truly remarkable to observe.  Of special note are some extra things that were provided like matching up grout lines through the niches that were created in both baths (without being asked) which added harmony to the rooms, handling a problem with the cabinet providers on a damaged cabinet delivered, ordering and receiving everything, and where possible, passing along cost benefits.  He even noticed during a rainstorm that our drainpipes were clogged and cleaned those out when he had an extra few minutes.  Overall, the entire experience was better than we could've hoped, and we would use Johnny Concrete again.

John Croft gave us a per square foot quote and stuck with it. He came when he said he would, and completed the work when he said he would.  Our driveway (not our house) is now the BEST in the neighborhood!  We have a 5-in-thick concrete driveway with rebar reinforcement and very nicely spaced joints.  It's ARTISTIC!  The curves he installed for our driveway are great.

John Croft discussed with us, at length, our project and vision and submitted a reasonable and detailed estimate in a timely fashion. From the start date to the completion date, John Croft stayed in close communication with us and notified us immediately of any changes in appointments or unexpected delays. He respected us and our home as if it were his own, e.g., never taking anything for granted; wearing covering on his shoes during our initial meeting; placing drop cloths over the carpet; completely isolating the work area with plastic to r***** the spread of dust to other areas; closing off the work area by shutting the door to lessen the noise; always closing the door to the exterior of the house in order to keep out cold and possible pests; cleaning the work area nightly; and taking down the plastic enclosure nightly so that we could have "quasi-normal" access to our home. His thoughtfulness and professionalism surmount that of any other contractor with whom we have worked. John Croft was tireless in his efforts to correct contractor errors, such as a damaged bath tub from a supplier and a countertop and sink of the wrong size, and was diligent in using his contractor discount to get bargain materials of high quality for us. What impressed us even more was that John Croft voluntarily took care of other problems he found without charging us--such as the rotted floor and a damaged attic inlet drywall cover. He even brushed the snow off my car during one inclement day!!! John was very pleasant, professional, diligent, conscientious, competent, and a complete joy to have in our home. He restored our faith in the small business industry in Colorado Springs.
