They did not manage getting all materials to the site on time so the work took place over multiple months and is still not complete. The installation was done incorrectly as the wrong underlayment was used. The new floor was a nail down installation but Reagan allowed an underlayment suitable for a floating installation to be used instead. As a result, the flooring is loose and attempts to "top nail" boards has been ineffective. Of course, top nailing should not be required and is not part of the manufacturer's installation instructions. And because of the underlayment, we have had five nails come up out of the floor in the first few months!
In addition to the underlayment problem, the workmanship on the floor is very poor. Boards were not trimmed well and the gaps were instead filled with putty that doesn't match the flooring well. And the putty itself is a problem because it is soft and collects dirt which makes the installation look even worse and is impossible to maintain. Much of the trim that was removed by the installer was damaged, kitchen and bath cabinets were scratched and chipped and other subfloor damage was done and not disclosed by the installer.
The floor needs to be removed and installed correctly. Unfortunately, IQ doesn't have the business ethics to stand behind their work and make things right. When there are problems that arise in a project, you get the true measure of the service provider and in this case IQ Floors demonstrates a lack of professionalism and integrity.
Our carpet is either very poor quality (even though we paid for high quality) or was poorly installed. At this point it is dangerous to walk on our carpeted floors because you could trip on the waves. People who have been in our home are appalled at the horrible appearance of our carpet.
While our 20 year old white carpet remains fine, we will be replacing our "new" carpet at our own expense. Obviously it is not the environment, care or use. It was bad product and/or bad installation.
****Following up on my comments from July 2013, today we were reimbursed in full by IQ Floors LLC for the re-stretching that had to be done on our carpet.
We showed up at IQ Floors literally 5 minutes before closing. The staff had left due to an impending storm, actually passing us as we drove up. The only person there was Rich, the warehouse manager, who was just closing up. Without hesitation, he offered to let us in and helped us look around. He gave us advice, and never once tried to rush us or sell us anything. He was open and honest if he didn't know something.
When we came back at a later date, Melissa and Reagan took very good care of us. The entire staff was extremely friendly. They are very much a family and truly enjoy their jobs. Long story short, I felt like they wanted the best for me and my budget, not for their bottom line. We bought flooring from them initially, which they were able to get for a great price, and when I went back to work out the details, I brought up carpet. We had initially gone with a box store carpet, and not only did IQ match the price, they gave us a better carpet.
Last, but certainly not least, they really go out of their way to help. With me installing the flooring myself, they had no reason to go beyond selling, but they continually offer advice and help throughout the process.
