Houdini's Drywall Magic

Generally, Mike has good reviews for his services - that's why we went with him in the first place. After accepting the drywall job he overheard that we were looking for bathroom remodel work and he asked us for that job too. After looking at some photos of tile work he had done, and since he was already in our house, we agreed to hire him for the bathroom job too. Things were fine for awhile but he clearly was out of his element with the tile work. He told us he could move some plumbing and then stared at it for 2 solid days without making any progress forcing us to hire a plumber to fix his "work". Mike also did multiple things wrong and not at all like we asked him to, such as putting shower niches in the wrong places and setting the shower dimensions incorrectly multiple times. He had to tear out some work because he wasn't listening to what we wanted him to do. Then came the anger. Anytime we asked him to redo the shoddy work he had done he would get mad and roll his eyes. This carried on for about 20 days. He also wanted to charge us $1300 to tear up the concrete shower pan that was to be replaced, so we rented a jack hammer and did it ourselves in 45 minutes after he left. Multiple times, Mike asked for personal loans and advances as well as money to get his tools out of pawn that he needed for the job. We also had to rent a jack hammer AGAIN for him to install a toilet flange because he doesn't have a credit card to do so. Things came to a head this morning. We probably had 2-3 days left in the project (after nearly a month of this guy being in our house) and I asked Mike to replace a couple tiles that were cut incorrectly. He rolled his eyes and gave me some excuse and argued with me before finally saying he would replace them. Moments later, he began taking his tools to his truck. His helper had not arrived yet and I assumed he was cleaning and clearing the space until he had help with the tile. Mike eventually left without saying a word and never came back. Mike promised us things that he never delivered on aside from not even completing the project. Our house is a disaster from the drywall (he says his process is "dust-less" but that is a lie) and tile work and we're left to clean up the mess. I would NEVER recommend this guy to anyone. He is the most unprofessional person I've ever worked with and didn't even have the decency to tell me he was leaving. Luckily, we had not paid him the full amount of his quote because he was not producing results. Rude and unacceptable behavior all around. Don't be fooled.

Michael and his team came in and really helped us out. Houdini's Drywall Magic removed ALL of the damaged drywall, checked rough walls for any pipe and wire damage, in some cases re-framed portions of ceilings and walls, built out uneven areas, turned basic walkways into beautiful arches, hung new drywall that passed the first inspection, and finished out the job with tape/mud//texture and even primed and painted. The amount of work that was done by Michael and his team was incredible and there are now aspects of our home that we only thought would happen in a dream (like the AMAZING arches). Since the completion of the drywall work, we have had contractor friends in our house and they ask for Houdini's number because they can tell just how great and unique the work is. The photos attached are before and after photos of some of the areas in our home (including what the first failed drywaller left us with). The cost of the project was high, but was worth every penny, and I honestly do not think we could have had anywhere near the same quality of work done by anyone else for that price.

Contractor said he could do the job and gave an affordable quote.  Then they began work - I was called to California for 4 days and when I got back the job was left incomplete with no return contact, save a missed follow up, and all my checks cashed.  They took the money and ran without finishing the job.   Very poor experience.
The porch is still in the same shape as it was when they dropped the job.   I invite anyone to drive by 550 Northlake and look at the unprofessional job, poor quality and shoddy craftsmanship anytime you want.   
I'll be filing with the BBB and am leaving the porch up as proof of a poor job.
