Good Fellas remodeling

This contractor Juan Martinez contacted me after I requested a quote on Angie's List. He gave us a good price, said he will take care of all the material for additional price and even brought some tile samples. We set a starting date 2 months in advance on July 16th 2018. I did ask for a contract and Juan said he doesn't do contracts. I guess, I should have backed up right away, but this is my first experience with remodeling, so I didn't. I called 4 days prior to the starting day on July 12, no answer several times. I left a message. He called me back a postponed the job for additional 3 weeks for August 6th. I already had a bad feeling, but I agreed. We met at a tile store on July 27th, where I picked up tile, material and paid for it. Tile shop called next they have the tile, I told them the contractor is supposed to pick it up, he never did. I'm calling him again 4 days before the new starting date on August 2nd. He told me he will start Tuesday, because he is dropping his kid at college. Called him again Monday the 6th, he said he will call me back in an hour, he never did. I called again, he says the bathtub he ordered wasn't delivered yet. He was very patronizing and rude on the phone. At that point I told him to stop lying, he had almost 3 months to order the bathtub or tell me to get it myself. He told is better if we go separate way, since he is HAVING SO MUCH ISSUES WITH ME! I thought the contractors depend on good reputation. Very disappointing experience, I would recommend to skip this person. And why was this kind kind of shady person on Angie's list? I turned away other contractors, because this guy was on Angie's.
