Services we offer
We specialize in custom homes, however, we also do remodeling, additions, basements, detached garages, and light commercial projects.
GMC came in with the lowest bid and worked with us throughout the process on any changes. Andy made numerous trips to the city planning offices on our behalf to get plans approved. He managed all the subcontractors coming in on time and within budget. His follow up after we were open has been outstanding. BumperDoc Colorado Springs highly recommends GMC for your home or business projects
Description of Work: We have used GMC several times and would not hesitate to use them again. Andy first added a side door to the garage in our home (with a doggie door) about 5 years ago. When we found a location for our new business we asked Andy to bid on project management and build out needed to open BumperDoc Colorado Springs. Scope included lobby renovation, installing the air compressor / piping, paint bench, and installing the 500 gallon sand oil seperator for our car detail area.

Andy was recommended by our first class landscape design team. I was very pleased with his quality and professional work and felt comfortable with him in our home. He is very customer service oriented.
Description of Work: Converted a small window in my bedroom to a French door, added a Coppola to an existing patio. Had him return in 2011 to add a large plate glass window in my bedroom wall.

Overall it went very well. Andy provided good supervision related to our project, was always on time for appointment,s and communicated very effectively. He promptly returned calls and addresses any questions we had. His price was within our budget and was less expensive than other bids we received.

The price started out at $80,000, then went quickly to $100K, then $150K - and the kicker was it was you buy the appliances and fixtures and it will be $150,000 cost plus contract. That's when we drew the line. On the plus side the designs they came up with were terrific. We paid them $2,500 for the design work. How it could go from firm fixed price at $80K to $150K cost plus - and we had to buy the appliances and fixtures?
Description of Work: They were supposed to bumpout the back of the house.

Response from G.M.C. Construction Company, Inc.
This review was posted about 2 years after we looked at this project and contains a lot of incorrect information. The initial number was $88,500 (not $80,000). It was a Budgetary Estimate (not a firm fixed price) based on an initial sketch of the project. This was explained to the customer and clearly labeled as such on the estimate. During the design phase, the project scope was increased significantly. During our meetings the customer was informed that the changes would increase the costs. Once the construction drawings were complete a formal cost plus proposal totaling $128,000 (not $150,000) was provided. The proposal provided the pricing for each category of work to be done and included all the construction costs, contractor fees, and allowances (including fixtures). We do not have our clients buy the fixtures - we prefer they don't. An estimate of $100,000 was never given. The appliances were delineated as being "billed at cost" or provided by owner in both the original budgetary estimate and the final proposal. Over the years we have found that most clients to do not want to pay for a contractor markup on their appliances and want to buy them direct - so we will buy them at our cost and allow the customer to have our discount or let them buy them on their own. We will provide either cost plus proposals or fixed price based on the clients wishes, in this case a preference was never provided. The clients were great people to work with so I was surprised at the ratings. We always return calls as soon as we were able to and conduct ourselves in a very professional manner.

They were referred to me by an acquaintance. They’ve been here for thirty five or thirty six years and I was very pleased with them. It’s a family owned company. The person who owns it or who is running it now is the son, and he’s the vice president of the company. His name is Andy Van Kampen. The work turned out very well. They were dependable and the work was done well. They were in and out at the time that they said they would be. They gave us a lot of very good advice. They are very experienced. I had no major complaints at all. This is the first time I’ve used them. When it’s a major reconstruction there were will be a few minor problems. Andy has been very good to follow through. He takes care of all the problems. He was very easy to work with and very helpful. I did not have an architect and I sort of knew what I wanted. He came in and did major designs for the closet and the bathroom. He did a very good job. Their price was fair. He’s not the cheapest but he’s not exuberant as well. He is fair with the pricing. He didn’t screw us. There were a couple of times when he was late but he runs his own business. So he gets busy. I would certainly use their services again in the future.
Description of Work: I used GMC Construction Inc. I last used their services yesterday. He did some reconstruction for me. He made a master bath out of the bedroom and did some remodeling in the master bedroom. He also did the other bathroom. He installed a large walk in closet.
