I feel very comfortable recommending Gene's. We initially scheduled a furnace tune-up but we were also having issues with the furnace cycling. The tech knew how to troubleshoot and knew what to troubleshoot. He explained what was happening and what he could do about it and when. He ordered the part, came back out, and we've been golden since then. Very personable front office, too.

We had used Gene's Heating and Air about a year ago for cleaning our furnaces and they did a fantastic job. That same year our A/C died and we received a quote from them to get it fixed and the best option they had was to replace a coil (a $2000 job) or replace it altogether (a $3000 job).  Since we didn't have the funds at the time to address either one, we received a second estimate to only replace some of the refrigerant and find where the leak using a dye, which was a $400 job.  While the A/C ran for an extra 2 months last year,  it turned out that the dye had actually created more of a spectacle for any future jobs. This year we aimed to get the A/C replaced as we had a budget in place and received various quotes. At the moment, we settled for the Wirenut which we are now very thankful we didn't get it done by them because it was a lot more expensive than it needed to be. We happened upon Gene's Heating and Air quote from last year and it was significantly lower than Wirenut so we called them to see if there were any reasons why it was much lower. It simply turned out the Wirenut just charged for all the additional services that were already included plus service plans that were unnecessary unlike with Gene's. We asked if they would honor the quote even though it was over a year ago and they DID!  Nick and his apprentice spent the full day with us explaining the process and installing the  unit that was appropriate for the space. Not only that, we ended up with a Trane A/C unit where as Wirenut would have used Lennox, a good model but not as highly rated as a Trane according to Consumer Reports.  The quote stood firm even though they had to use several tubes of solution just to clean out the dye from the last job and we now have a fully functioning quiet A/C unit.  Nick has a great sense of humor and is very dedicated to his job.  He is very honest and doesn't beat around the bush and we have a great trust with this company due to his work ethic.

Repair was successful.  Cost was $50 more than Nick initially told me.  So I paid $176 for a $10 capacitor.  I would have replaced that capacitor myself if Nick had told me accurate total cost.  However Nick was very friendly and helpful otherwise.
The furnace had another failure  that would have cost $385 if Genes Heating replaced the part but only cost $119 because I did the simple replacement.  My only complaint is that Genes is costly and misleading with estimates.  Otherwise Genes Heating is excellent.
Response from Gene's Heating and Air
"It is upsetting to our company that this homeowner, who called the office with no heat had diagnosed his furnace with a bad blower motor expected to pay whatever a google search gave as a price for his parts. The technician responded found a bad capacitor, not a bad blower motor, replaced the capacitor in order to get the furnace running to further diagnose the furnace, the homeowner was given the price at each step to repair the furnace. This homeowner decided to replace his own inducer motor after he was made aware that it was bad. So sad to see our excellent review history brought down by one homeowner who expects a company to work for free."

We woke up this morning (Saturday) morning with the house cold. I called 2 HVAC companies, one wanted $125 just to come to my house since it was a Saturday, the other one wanted $145. Gene's was the next number I called; he answered the phone promptly, was very courteous and said he would be at my house in 50 minutes and he was right on time. He asked for $99 to come to the house. He quickly repaired our furnace which had a malfunctioning igniter, vacuumed and cleaned the unit, and checked for carbon monoxide so the bill came to $210 total which we thought was reasonable and was completed in less than an hour. He was very knowledgeable and took a lot of extra time to answer our questions. We had a lot of extra questions regarding upgrading our water heater as we have 2 teenage daughters who take long showers, and he even looked at our water heater, recommended some plumbers and explained possible options for us even though he didn't get paid for the extra time as he doesn't do water heaters. I highly recommend him and we will use him again in the future.

I'm pretty picky about work done on my home and Gene's was great.  I had a number of estimates and what I really liked about Gene's is the guy who came out and gave me the estimate (I think it was Ben) was extremely knowledgeable, experienced, patiently answered all my questions, and he also completed the installation with a couple of helpers.  A couple of the other companies sent sales people who knew something about air conditioning, but not enough to convince me I was getting the best equipment and deal.  The guys from Gene's did a great job, were on time, cleaned up after the work, and I have had no problems with the system. I was also able to get a great brand in Trane at a price lower that the competitors that used comparable brands.  I found Gene's on Angie's list and will use Gene's again in the future. I have already recommnded them to others.

The provider was nice and services where priced below the norm. Almost to good to be true. So far the product works as promised. The installer was nice enough to install a thermostat that I purchased at a local store. I have suggested this contractor to many folks.

What a great experience.  Gene's came out after the first provider( who I had a signed bid with) decided to back out of their bid.  I was so frustrated by the complete lack of professionalism by the other provider who postponed and postponed until the delay brought my remodel to a screeching halt.  Finally, giving up on them, we started the bid process all over again.

Gene's was cost competitive, not my cheapest, but I went with them because they were knowledgeable and responsive when I called with questions.  I found out an interesting sales point on different furnaces (certain brands can use universal parts and certain ones require brand specific parts, I went with the universal parts because who wants to wait for a part to be ordered when you don't have heat!) and the woman I spoke with was professional and helped me to feel comfortable with them as a company.  They were spot on with their timing and communicated in such a way I was actually able to schedule other work.  I was a wonderful experience from start to finish.  As an upside I had a question about a specific furnace spec,  mentioned during the inspection, and even though it was outside the bid and we passed inspection Gene's returned to the project and made an adjustment.  I will definitely call them first next time.

Needed to replace my 20+  year old furnace. I met with 6 different heating contractors to obtain information and estimates. The first big positive is that with Gene?s, the person who comes out to evaluate and estimate is also the person who will install your new equipment. In my situation, this was Nick. Nick was able to answer ALL my questions and provide great product / installation information, other companies sent out a sales person (nice guys, but did not know products etc. as well as an installer like Nick).  Nick offered a variety of options and provided a very competitive estimate for my selection. In scheduling and finalizing arrangements, Julie and Mary of Gene?s office are pleasant and easy to work with.  Nick and Matt showed up on schedule for install, and they did a PERFECT job! So let the cold wind blow and the snow fly, I now have a new Trane furnace, Aprilair humidifier, Honeywell thermostat  and it all works great!  EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE with Nick and Gene?s, I highly recommend!

The service was done efficiently, expertly, comprehensively, professionally, and politely--with care given to our home and furnishings. Nick was patient and thorough in explaining his services and what he saw as problems related to the original installation. Our feelings of trust in his expertise and suggestion was almost immediate, and we agreed to his recommendation for a more effective furnace filter. At my request, he checked for problems with the original installation and found that not only was the gas turn-off apparatus almost unaccessible, but also the gas line was barring access to another part of the furnace. In addition, a PVC pipe should have been cut much closer to the base of its installation rather than protruding into service space. Nick serviced the air conditioner, cleaned out cottonwood from the condensing coil, cleaned out the condenser, and cleared the condensate p-trap. Nick check the charge "...and found was way over charged to the point there was no vapor. Removed R410A and achieved a required...subcool."  The house no longer has such disparite cool temperatures from the upper level to the basement; however, we are considering Rick's suggestion to seal the basement trunk line.

Scheduling for this appointment was a nightmare due to our situation. But Mary in the office was over and above patience.  Making me feel like my business was already valued. We had concerns about the old furnace. The Tech Nick, was nicer than i could even put into words. Very knowledgeable, honest. He didn't try to sell us anything. Just gave his honest opinion and left. Great service, great experience all around. I will use them again.

Gene's has done service on furnaces and air conditioners at my rentals.  There service people are the nicest and certainly the most honest.  I have never felt that they were constantly doing more than needed and there were never in added costs that did not need to be done.  The people in the office are very nice and professional as well.  They work me into there schedules as quickly as possible.
