I contacted Dr Electric because the circuit breaker for my AC unit kept tripping. The electrician showed up and within 10 minutes proclaimed that I needed an entirely new electrical panel at a cost of almost $5000. I went ahead and placed a deposit of $1300 to get it on the schedule. In the meantime, I was skeptical so I called in another electrician who found that it was merely a faulty breaker and replaced it for less than $300 which fixed the problem. It then took almost 3 months to get a partial refund of my deposit from Dr Electric.

"We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced. We did explain the refund process and that we have to wait for regional building department to issue a refund for the permit that was pulled per your authorization. Also they do not refund the whole amount of the permit which was explained when you signed the invoice and gave the deposit authorizing us to pull a permit. We are happy that your issue was resolved but we are still concerned about your panel being significantly overloaded. A 100 amp panel for a 2734 sq.ft. House with a 240v ac and a 240 hot tub is undersized. I would advise getting a third opinion."

Excellent service. Large crew completed all tasks in one day with no problems. The team was especially good at avoiding damage to the drywall for new outlets. No surprise charges. Dr. Electric provided all parts needed as part of the original estimate (unlike another electrical company that gave me a quote without including parts). Able to respond within three days of work request. I will definitely call Dr. Electric again for future electrical work.

Response was prompt and Rick was professional and courteous. The electrical work is obviously an area of expertise and he included an additional covered outside outlet at no charge. The area in need of improvement is with building work; however, they did return quickly to make final repairs to 4 ceiling holes at no additional expense. I have no issue with the work I hired them to do, except that even with the Angie's List discount, I felt the overall price was a bit on the high side. I do appreciate their communication before and afterward and their prompt response to the job.

They ran electric from the house to the garage; installed an outlet in garage, a security light and switch. Then they ran a wire for a front porch light, installed a plug, and another outlet. They are very knowledgeable, and all the work was done professionally. I do suggest to ensure everything you want is on the bid or it will not get done (my rookie mistake). I had them come out another time to complete the things I forgot to add.

First off, DR Electric was the first of four companies I called around 8 AM on New Year's Day to actually pick up the phone and I was able to get an appointment for two days later (Wednesday the 3rd). Huge points for responsiveness and overall availability. Jonathan showed up on time and I asked him to take a look at my electrical panel. The circuit breaker for the range was repeatedly failing and I wasn't sure if it was a problem with the breaker, the circuit, or the range itself. Jonathan isolated the problem and was able to conclude it was most likely the range that was the culprit, rather than the breaker or circuit, and advised me to have an appliance technician come out before trying to operate the range again. Moreover, he did not charge my for this minimal and short appointment, and also provided me an estimate for replacing the ageing outlets throughout my house. Thanks to this appointment, DR Electric has shot to the top of my list for companies to call in the event of an electrical issue.

DR Electric was able to book an appointment a couple of days out from my call which was fine as the GFI replacement was not an emergency, Tony was very courteous on the phone. Jonathan arrived on time for the repair. He was VERY friendly, courteous and professional. He gave me background on their company and business model. The repair was done AND TESTED quickly (no mess) and he took the time to explain the difference between the old GFI and the new "self-testing" GFI he installed. I know this was a small job for them, but Jonathan made me feel that taking care of my problem was important. And, their pricing is VERY reasonable! I will definitely use them for future electrical needs and be recommending them to my friends and neighbors.
