12-05-2014          Hurriedly measured for 4 countertops, delivery/install in 2 weeks (12-19-2014)

12-16-2014         Contractor stopped by to check on status ?Counters not started ? it?ll only take 3 days ? Told about commercial contract.

12-22-2014          Contractor checked again ? Delivery/install scheduled for 12-24-2014 9-10:30am

12-24-2014          Counters arrived at 2:30pm! Main counter with kitchen sink is WRONG by at least 16inches.  No room for backsplash behind faucet! They had the faucet.   Kitchen was scheduled to be FINISHED TODAY!

NOTHING FOR TWO WEEKS!

01-06-2015          Counter p/u for correction

01-07 thru 01-21 Counter delivered. Wrong again. Taken back.

01-22-2015          8am - Counter delivered on time, installed.  Notified contractor of problem

01-23-2015          D M S notified of error and unhappy customer.  Fabricator came by to see problem (different from the 1st and 2nd errors) to explain to office manager.

01-26-2015          OM- kitchen refund or counter fixed /Fabricator to make template/ Mid--February delivery!

01-27-2015          Template made at residence.

02-05-2015          BBB CASE#: 37035447 Opened

03-03-2015          Contractor called DMS for update. Notified early evening that DMS was just getting the materials together. I'll should have countertop, version #4, around March 16.

I was desperate to replace laminate counter top in the vanity in bathroom. I left toilet bowl cleaner which burned a stain in the counter. In order to put house on the market, I needed to have vanity installed in less then 10 days. Staff was very professional and worked with me using their in-stock supplies and scheduling. The product was promised within 7 days. After templating paying for the job, I was not called for almost 4 days to schedule final install. There was no explanation for the delay. They were able to install the counter top the next day. As I was in a time crunch, I felt helpless to make any further demands as I needed to product installed immediately.
They were professional, responsive and good quality products. I just felt my 'little' job was not important and was easily forgotten.

The only problem I have with the actual product is that they cut it with too little room for the range. Installer said they always do them at 30" (this allows for a 29 7/8 range). The original layout would have been less than 29 7/8. I pointed out my concern and he was able to push one of the pieces so it came out at 29 15/16 which just barely allows for the stove to slide back in. It's an old house and everything isn't square but I would have expected them to consider that in the original measure.
The bigger problem was with the scheduling. I ordered the counter top through Lowes to be installed by their subcontractor, DMS. After paying Lowes they are out of the picture, salesman gave me a "meet your Lowes team" sheet with nothing filled out ("I have to give you this cause Installation Services says I have to").
Because Lowes acts as front man only, scheduling, measuring and installation is done through DMS. Tina, their point of contact is difficult to reach and would prefer email ("for quicker response please email me at XXX"). If you keep ringing her she eventually picks up. I Scheduled the measure which seemed to go without a hitch. I advised the tech that we had not yet purchased a new sink and the Lowes salesman said they could do the sink cutout on site; ok, no problem.
I scheduled the install three weeks in advance, between 8:00am and 10:00 am on the 17th. I did the tear out of the old countertop and emptied the cabinets on the 16th. At 10:15 on the 17th still no installer, I called Tina (again with the "for a quicker response...") to ask if they were going to come out. Response was "Ah, I can't find your paperwork, let me call you right back." Eventually Tina called back to say they were still waiting on the sink template from Lowes. Y'know, the one that they didn't need 'cause they were going to do the cut-out on site.
They were finally able to work me in late in the afternoon (about two hours after the plumber was scheduled to install the sink with the new configuration so that required another reschedule). Eventually got everything done. Because of the nuisance factor I won't use them again (or Lowes installation service for that matter) and would not recommend either of them.

Kudos to Summer Mills, who was our sales representative. She worked with me closely to choose colors and beveling-styles.
The measurement and delivery folks were professional and clean. They did a great job.
Unfortunately, the work was done a little more slowly than I would have liked (estimate was 2 weeks, it took 16 days) and our basement finish job was put on hold (plumbing and inspections) while waiting for the countertops to be finished. Today's styles of laminate countertops are quite beautiful and we were pleased that it has a granite-like look for the cost of laminate.
