Chuck repaired the job quickly and thoroughly. He also replace other plastic wall mounts for other parts of the closet, so that the same thing doesn't happened on another side in the future. Chuck was able to make the repair quicker than originally estimated, yet the job was done well and I am very satisfied. I would use Chuck Dayhoff again and would recommend him to a friend.
The window repairs went pretty well, taking most of a day, Chuck replacing both cords even where only one was actually broken (a good thing). One window had access panels in the side jambs to access the weights, and repair went smoothly. Two windows did not have such access panels, so the inside trim had to be removed to access the weights. One repair went OK, but on the other a chunk of old plaster wall pulled away with a trim panel - we both knew this would be likely (since the same had occurred earlier on another window by another repairman), so this plaster fix will be addressed later (along with other plaster problems) by a specialist.
For the shower/bath enclosure, Chuck coordinated new tile selection with us, cut out the tile-covered wall on three sides, coordinated with a plumber to come and install new bath & shower plumbing and control valve, picked up the new tile and disposed of demolished material, installed concrete board, applied rubberized sealer, cut and installed the new 12" square porcelain tile over mortar, applied grout, painted the bathroom walls and ceiling, and reinstalled the shower doors, taking about eight or nine days for this work (the room - toilet and sink - was usable in a week) . Afterwards I found that the shower doors didn't slide correctly, and Chuck immediately came out and corrected the problem.
Chuck was due to return in a week to apply sealer to the grout, so we asked if he could replace our old toilet and sink faucets in the same bathroom - this he agreed to do. We ordered a low-water-use toilet and replacement sink faucet, and when these arrived, Chuck scheduled a day, picked up the toilet and necessary parts, did the installation of it and faucet, sealed the grout, and disposed of the old toilet, taking about five hours.
I am very happy with with Chuck's work. We were both pretty flexible with schedule; Chuck shows up when promised, and calls when there is an unexpected conflict.
Note: The "cost of service" above excludes the control valve, tile, grout, toilet and faucet items, and plumber's labor.
