Infinite stars is my rating for Dayhoff Remodeling. Chuck Dayhoff is an extraordinary craftsman and, more important, he is an exceptional human being. In 2022, my husband, who already battled Parkinson’s, took a serious fall and was hospitalized for the next 10 months. It became very clear that I would not be able to care for him in our home - I needed a more appropriate housing situation. Securing a one-level house was the easy part. Remodeling that house into a completely fitted ADA space was the challenge. In January, 2023, I initiated my search-for-a-contractor. I explored websites and read reviews specifically on Angi. Each review posted about Dayhoff Remodeling was positive - even glowing. I called. From our first meeting, I was impressed by Chuck. He LISTENED to my concerns, hopes, needs, questions, and ideas before he inserted his thoughts. He respected what I had to say and never once discounted my opinions. Instead, Chuck took my visions and moved them to a higher level. I felt as if I were working with Chuck and believed that he truly wanted to manifest what I hoped to have in my new home. When I got stuck with paint, tile, flooring options, Chuck would say, “A comfortable choice (in flooring or tile or paint) might be ___.” I followed most of his leads - and found the outcome “comfortable” indeed. Chuck consistently went above and beyond. Designing the specifics and constructing the ADA bathroom was critical to the ultimate success of the entire remodeling project. Chuck worked directly with my husband on every detail of the bathroom. Chuck made multiple scale drawings showing different placements for the sink, shower, toilet. Chuck took each drawing to the rehab center and showed each to my husband. The two even role-played fixture placement using the bathroom layout at the rehab center. Drawing on his years of experience, Chuck added sensible, practical, and, when executed, beautiful details to every aspect of the project - crafting new drawers in the kitchen and bathroom; also crafting pull-out shelves for the kitchen cabinets; designing and building a sturdy staging platform for the lift installed in the garage; noting that folding closet doors would be preferable to sliding doors; extending the kitchen counter for a usable bar-seating area. Attention to detail influenced each of his work decisions. Chuck is smart, artistic, and skilled - his work is exceptional, and so is he! I trusted him completely. He possesses the highest degree of integrity - it was a high privilege to work with him. At project’s end, Chuck had created a safe and beautiful space for my husband and me. I am truly grateful.

Chuck built a rustic lavatory cabinet with a copper vessel sink and bronze single lever faucet to replace a seriously ugly one that was too low to use very well. He also resurfaced the shower pan, sealed the wall panels, and primed and painted the entire bathroom. His work was inventive and first quality. He's given our old trailer new life.

Chuck was fantastic and very flexible to changes and adds to the project. We decided to remove the popcorn ceilings on the upstairs and main levels of the house, which was supposed to only take four days, but because of problems with the independent contractor we choose it ended up taking nearly 3 weeks. They had to come out numerous times to fix things with the drywall patching and texturing, which were no fault of Chuck’s. Through that whole ordeal, he maintained a positive attitude and did all he could do around the other contractors work. He made many useful suggestions on how to finish and get things done, and they turned out beautifully. The kids absolutely love their new bedrooms, and we really enjoy the look and feel of our new master bedroom. I could not give Chuck a higher recommendation! He is absolutely fabulous to work with and the quality of his work is superb!

This was my first remodel and I was looking for someone to provide me guidance keeping in mind my budget. Chuck provided that and so much more. He took my vision and help guide me into making very good decisions on design and use of my budget. The additional independent contractors that he brought in for electrical and plumbing were also top notch. Chuck has an artistic eye that added beautiful touches and the final result was more than I had hoped for. He built me a small dining nook that I was not able to find that fit the small dining room and gave me added storage. We worked with Prosource for the kitchen design and the cabinets were beautiful, doubled my storage space and were well worth the investment. Chuck designed and made my maple butcher block counter top and my friends cant believe the beautiful job. He opened a pathway between the dining and living room which gives more flow and makes the area seem larger. I asked him to redesign a wall using laminate wood flooring and again he exceeded my expectations. His experience with painting and updating baseboards, lightning and doors also exceeded my expectations. I have a beautiful new home. My next project will include Chuck Dayhoff as my contractor. I also have reliable contacts for electrical and plumbing services as needed because of this remodel.

Excellent! We worked with Chuck to fully remodel our house over the past few months. He installed new hardware floors, painted the whole interior of the house including the kitchen, tore down a wall, installed all new interior doors, and finished our basement. He is a consummate professional and his work is high-quality. He worked with us to stay within budget and complete the work on-time. We are absolutely thrilled with the finished house and have had family/friends/other maintence compliment the high quality work. We’ll continue to work with Chuck over the next year when we’re ready for more projects and have already recommended him to friends.

Our search for a 'contractor' began before we even closed on our home. I searched for Dayhoff Maintenance and Repair through angie's list because we desired to stay away from corporate contracting. Over the course of the last 4 weeks, this decision has proven to have been a very wise, very solid decision! We couldn't be happier with Chuck and all the repairs and remodeling he did for us. This was a significant financial commitment for us, but large or small job, please stay and read why you should hire Chuck! We hired Chuck to do extensive remodeling in our newly purchased but 12-year old home. From the first phone call I placed to Chuck, he picked up immediately and we began our discussions on home repairs. He has always been very prompt in answering phone calls or texts. Very important when you are having work done on your home! Before beginning work, Chuck came to our home and took into account all that we were asking, took all the necessary measurements, and promptly gave us an estimate that evening. Chuck recommended places for us to purchase our tile and our hardwoods, both recommendations we used. He picked up the tile and transported them himself to our home, and had the hardwoods delivered to us from the manufacturer. The tile installation process began first. Chuck knew from the get-go, exactly what he was doing. He had all the proper equipment ready, and began work on our agreed date and time of March 20, with no delay. Throughout the whole process of the tile installation, Chuck was always professional, but very down-to-earth and easy to talk to. He kept me and my husband updated on the progress, and any possible changes to building materials and/or costs daily. Chuck has an innate ability to manage his projects and timing well, such that when one part of the remodeling process was curing, he would begin work in other areas to expedite the overall repair time. Tile was installed in our kitchen, upstairs master bathroom and garage entry way. Hardwood flooring installation began as Chuck and we had discussed. His solid knowledge on hardwood flooring really came to light during this process.Chuck used protection barriers during the sanding process to ensure integrity in the rest of our home and protection of our goods. He advised us of the precautions we should take when the polyurethane coating was to be laid and beginning to harden the floors. He took the time to install the wood floors running the length of our house, taking into account all the unique angles and meeting points with other flooring. Chuck always made sure that the work was 100% and even then he double checked with us to make sure we were happy with the product. As a business owner, Chuck takes great pride in doing the job the right way, professionally, the first time. Other projects we had Chuck complete was a toilet installation after he discovered during the MBR tile installation upstairs that the toilet needed to be replaced. Chuck sent us pictures and explained the need. He installed our new toilet and plumbing with it. Chuck is definitely a handyman, and also helped us with painting trim on textured walls. His trim work was great, and we are very appreciative of the help in this area. Please see photos. Overall, this remodeling process took about 4 weeks to complete, with Chuck being present at our home from about 9-4 pm, Monday through Friday. We, the homeowners, were in and out of the home simultaneously, but did not move into our home until about 1 week before renovations were completed. Never at any point where we concerned about integrity issues or lack of professionalism. You will not find that with Chuck. When you are in need of a handy man, call Chuck! We are definitely going to be using his services again. We cannot express how happy we are with his work, so we'll include pictures of before and after!

We had already had someone come out to get an estimate and look at the fence and he was going to cut some of the wood off and redo some of the hardware. Chuck arrived, looked at the fence, went to the truck and got a wrench, tightened some hardware on the latch and fixed it within about 2 minutes. It pays to have someone who knows what they are doing.

Chuck came out listened to what we wanted and then he gave us an estimate. We had two other people come, but liked his professional opinion and his personality. His price was in the range we were looking for. He was alway prompt kept us informed of all details. We liked that he gave us suggestions of what would look good. The shower opening was made wider than what we originally had, he made it look more open by taking part of the wall area  of drywall out and replacing with glass.  The shower really came together nicely.  Chuck went to pick up supplies for the shower, he ordered our closet doors for the office  and made sure everything worked. we definitely will use his services again and we highly recommend him. Thank you Chuck for a great job. Our next project is to install doors for our entertainment area for our TV.

Chuck repaired the job quickly and thoroughly.  He also replace other plastic wall mounts for other parts of the closet, so that the same thing doesn't happened on another side in the future.  Chuck was able to make the repair quicker than originally estimated, yet the job was done well and I am very satisfied.  I would use Chuck Dayhoff again and would recommend him to a friend.

Fantastic attention to detail and a very thoughtful design, much better than the others whom we had out for a quote.  The cost was in line with the others but the end product was much higher.  I definitely plan to have Chuck back whenever I need custom, high end carpentry work done.  Great to see a small business man do so well.

Chuck was originally contacted to repair broken counter-weight lower sash cords of three wooden double-hung windows in our old house (built around 1897); and to replace the tile and water-damaged wall of a shower/bath in a bathroom, part of an addition made to the house in about 1989.

The window repairs went pretty well, taking most of a day, Chuck replacing both cords even where only one was actually broken (a good thing). One window had access panels in the side jambs to access the weights, and repair went smoothly. Two windows did not have such access panels, so the inside trim had to be removed to access the weights. One repair went OK, but on the other a chunk of old plaster wall pulled away with a trim panel - we both knew this would be likely (since the same had occurred earlier on another window by another repairman), so this plaster fix will be addressed later (along with other plaster problems) by a specialist.

For the shower/bath enclosure, Chuck coordinated new tile selection with us, cut out the tile-covered wall on three sides, coordinated with a plumber to come and install new bath & shower plumbing and control valve,  picked up the new tile and disposed of demolished material, installed concrete board, applied rubberized sealer, cut and installed the new 12" square porcelain tile over mortar, applied grout, painted the bathroom walls and ceiling, and reinstalled the shower doors, taking about eight or nine days for this work (the room - toilet and sink - was usable in a week) . Afterwards I found that the shower doors didn't slide correctly, and Chuck immediately came out and corrected the problem.

Chuck was due to return in a week to apply sealer to the grout, so we asked if he could replace our old toilet and sink faucets in the same bathroom - this he agreed to do. We ordered a low-water-use toilet and replacement sink faucet, and when these arrived, Chuck scheduled a day, picked up the toilet and necessary parts, did the installation of it and faucet, sealed the grout, and disposed of the old toilet, taking about five hours.

I am very happy with with Chuck's work. We were both pretty flexible with schedule; Chuck shows up when promised, and calls when there is an unexpected conflict.

Note: The "cost of service" above excludes the control valve, tile, grout, toilet and faucet items, and plumber's labor.

Perfectly, Chuck removed the old wooden ballusters and added new wrought iron ballusters. He brought the staircase up to code and make sure that it looked elegant and finished. He then redid the railing to match a newer railing that we had added and stained the existing wood to match. All in all, he did an excellent job and I am now using Chuck to build a piece of furniture that I have been wanting for years.

The work went well, and Chuck was easy to work with. Chuck was happy to update his estimate after a few additional damaged items were discovered.. We had severe hail damage to paint and roof as well, repair or replacement all of which was submitted as a claim against  our homeowners insurance policy. Chuck's bid for work and materials was accepted without modification by the insurer.
