Work was never done. After repeated calls to D & O to get an update the receptionist told me they were too busy.

Called 1 week ahead and made arrangements. Was there every morning and worked until end of day. Cleaned up everyday. Pleasant ,efficient ,and talented. Very, very pleased with results.

Ed did a great job. He provided a written bid shortly after inspecting the job. His bid was very competitive with other bids I had received. His bid was broken down showing both labor and materials which made it more easy to understand what I was paying for.
He showed up exactly at the time he said he'd be at the job site. His work was meticulous and he asked me several questions throughout the job to ensure that things were exactly as i wanted them. Ed and his crew cleaned up thoroughly after each days work. I couldn't be more happy with the work D & O Construction & Design Group did in my home.

FIrst, he missed the original appointment we made. He did call to let me know he couldn't make it. I called to reschedule. He seemed professional and friendly when he actually came - in late June - and listened and took measurements. Told me he'd have an estimate within a week. More than a week passed. I called to find out about the estimate. He said he was so busy he hadn't had a chance to do it, but he'd do it in the next two weeks. No estimate. I asked again, leaving a message. He said he was so busy he'd just get to it eventually. No estimate. I called again. He called back saying he'd get to it very soon, but he was so busy he wouldn't be able to start the work until October. Now it's mid-October and I have not heard word one.

We chose D&O construction and design because during the quote process, we felt that Ed understood what we were trying to accomplish and was willing to work with the materials we were most interested in. The implementation of our vision was even better than we had hoped for! Ed was extremely professional to work with. He showed up when he said he would and returned calls. His work was high quality, using quality materials. He helped pick out a quality sub-contractor for the railings. He kept the work space organized and cleaned up at the end of the day. He addressed any concerns we pointed out. I would highly recommend D&O construction for any renovation/construction project, especially if it requires special creativity.

I cannot recommend Ed Ott (D&O Construction) highly enough. He provides a high quality service, extensive knowledge and contacts, and a rare trait in the trades- punctuality. Ed is there, onsite, when he says he is going to be. He alway answers his phone and his reliability is superb.
We had very specific framing requirements for a Murphy bed/bookcase unit that was being built offsite. The builder gave us a set of measurements that had to be exact to accommodate his pre-built unit. We were also told shimming or adjustments were out of the question. The framing had to be perfect.
We called Ed Ott at D&O Construction and he framed that wall to exact specifications. The Murphy bed/wall unit slid into place and fastened to perfection.
Our time schedule for the framing was tight and Ed met our requirements and exceeded our expectations.
We had other projects on this job and my first phone call was to Ed. He always answered and he was always there.
Every opportunity I get, I recommend Ed and D&O and every chance I get to use him, I will.

He set an appointment for an estimate. When I called him at 11:30 it sounded like I had woken him up from a rough night. When I reminded him of the appointment he said' "oh yeah, I think I wrote that down, let me check". No need!

Nice enough guy, referred by another contractor. I needed some work in 2 rooms consisting of base board and door trim install. Also had some trim pieces I wanted relocated. Asked to for Ed to come by before the job to discuss, he felt there was no need since it sounded like a straightforward job. #1 lesson learned always have the contractor come to assess the situation. The day of the job Ed arrived promptly on time. I supplied the painted baseboards and trim. #2 Lesson learned, go into detail of expectations. I assumed he was going a complete job of finishing to include calking and covering nail holes, again another miscommunication. When I asked for him to do the caulking he had limited resources to complete the tasks. He did not sweep up nails or sawdust after the job. Lastly he walked into my house through a door not associated with the job without knocking which drove my wife crazy. His work was good but not exceptional. I would say is would be ok for others but not for me.

Construction projects in your home can be very difficult. Ed made my basement finish very pleasant. Ed did the framing, painting and all of the trim work. Ed was very good at all of his work and always "went the extra mile" for me. . Ed got all of the framing done within two days. He then arranged to have the drywall installed. He then came back and did all of the painting and trim work. The trim work included building a large closet with shelving and bi fold doors. Ed hung additional doors, installed the trim around the doors and put in the baseboards. With any construction there are unexpected details that come up. Ed had no trouble handling those items. You can tell that he is very experienced and good at what he does. Ed gets a 100% recomendation from me. Also, he is very fair in his pricing.

See above; it seems as if D & O has difficulty with keeping appointments/responding to requests for estimates even before any work is agreed upon, so not a good sign in our opinion.

Ed is a great guy and quite the character. We really enjoyed working with Ed and getting to know him a little bit. He does good work and charges a reasonable price. He's got an easygoing, laid back attitude and his response to "I'd like to" or "I was thinking about" is very helpful and reasonable. We ended up having him do more work than he initially bid and the price didn't increase a whole lot. He knows how to do a lot of things and he has the tools to get it done.
He always showed up a few minutes early ready to work, and worked hard until he left. He kept the area clean and warned us ahead of time if anything he was doing could potentially make a lot of noise.
We are very pleased with Ed and the work he did, and satisfied with the cost.

I scheduled an appointment for an estimate to frame and drywall some walls in our basement. I made an appointment with Ed (the owner of the company) for the estimate. He never showed up for the appointment and never called to cancel or tell me he was running late. I left him a voicemail asking what had happened and telling him I really wanted to get my project done. He returned my voicemail and I decided to schedule another appoinment for an estimate because he got such good reviews on Angie's List and I figured he wouldn't be a no-show twice. I was wrong--he didn't show up for the appointment AGAIN. I just wasted several hours for two days in a row waiting for this company to show up to an appointment. The owner did come to the house on the day after the scheduled appointment, but I wasn't home since it was a weekday and I work during the day, so he left a note asking if I wanted to reschedule. When I called him, he said that he thought the appoinment might have been the day before, but wasn't sure. Seriously? I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm not interested in working with this company based on the fact that I couldn't even get an appoinment successfully set up, let alone schedule the work and expect it to go smoothly. No thanks.

I basically told Ed what I wanted, gave him a picture i'd printed off the internet, and told him to go for it. He made it a reality!
He answered all of my questions, was extremely available to discuss the project, and was always punctual. He always added professional input but never 'steamrolled' my opinion - he was extremely willing to do minor things that I requested (such as recutting the mantle piece to make it larger). He also cleaned up after his work. Any changes to schedule were cleared with us well in advance and we had control of the project at every step. What I liked Most about Ed is that he is not a 'project manager' with subs like many handymen companies - he does all of the work himself so the cost of overhead does not get passed on to me, the customer. For areas outside of his expertise (ie drywall) he defers to professionals he seems to have longstanding relationships with, which I was fine with. Their work was built into my total price. I told Ed the price I wanted to pay (which was a bit below his original estimate), and he told me the materials we could buy and the scope of work that would be possible for my budget. It turned out to be exactly what i wanted and i am well pleased. I had 5 quotes and Ed's beat the next lowest by approximately 1000. We hope to have Ed back for a deck, some built in bench seating, and a basement finishing.

If you can find a better company to perform remodeling and new design and construction in Colorado Springs, I'll be surprised. I've hired many contractors to work on my home over several decades and D&O is the best in all regards. I seriously don't think you can go wrong by working with Ed and the excellent sub-contractors he brings to the job.
